The store's table is a gathering place for the locals and anyone who cares about yarn. True friendships are forged at that table. I truly felt honored to converse with the women in that store. They were so friendly and treated me with the utmost respect. House Mountain Yarn is an asset to Lexington.

I went into Magpie Knits got the first time yesterday to look for some yarn because I just started…read moregetting into crocheting. They have so many colors and types of yarn that seem like really good quality. The range I personally saw was anywhere from $9-$34, but I didn't walk around there checking every price. I did end up getting a $9 cranberry color yarn that is super soft and they put it into a ball for me (I forgot what that's called....remember, beginner here haha). Overall, I definitely would go back again! Maybe not all the time as I'm starting out, but, if I do get better, then for sure. I also asked about classes and they said if more are interested in crochet classes they will add some, or I could do a private lesson. I also feel the need to say something about that one star review below that would cause any hesitation from going there. While I was not greeted after coming in (something that doesn't bother me personally), except by an adorable doggy, there are people in there that you can go up to and ask for help if you needed to. I will say this, I definitely wandered around staring at yarn for a few minutes waiting to see if someone would ask if I needed help and eventually someone did after making eye contact. So, in my opinion, you definitely have to just find someone and ask for help. Everyone was really nice though.

Besides having a special talent for selecting a wide collection of beautiful merchandise, she is a survivor entrepreneur of the covid era which began shortly after she started her business. This hardship led her to create one of the most beautiful and practical websites that I have ever seen. Not only creating a place for customers to purchase her merchandise contactless, but establishing a strong relationship with her customers this way, so now they can visit her shop to gather for one of her workshops, borrow a book from her lending library, feel the products before purchasing them, or simply spend some time chatting with the owner who has a wonderful personality. Beside the great variety of very unique and quality, colorful yarn, of which I had never seen before in larger, corporate shops, she also carries items such as books, accessories, sweaters, scarfs, just to name a few. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the variety and quality of the products sold there. The place is also decorated with artworks with meaningful and some funny quotes. There is also a good size room on the side where people can gather to attend one of the owners workshop, or simple to relax and knit. Lots of examples of what you can make with yarns. Great notions and project bags. They offer virtual shopping as well. I needed quite a bit of yarn for my project, so while I am in love with some of the locally dyed yarn selection, I did buy a commercial brand. It is gorgeous and perfect for the cardigan I want to make. Staff was so helpful; spent time with me helping to pick the yarn out and match the colors. I got a great project bag with sheep. I could have spent more money, but there is a budget involved! If you're in the area, this is a go too. Even if you cannot get there, sign up for a virtual shopping tour! I will definitely be back.

I bought my Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needle set years ago online and I've never regretted my…read moredecision. It was about $50 for my set but it comes with needle heads size 5 to 15 as well as various sizes of cords. They also have a lifetime warranty. If, for some reason, something breaks (due to normal usage!), just mail it back to the company with $1 to cover shipping. Last month, I broke the black connector tips off two of my cords. I was pretty frazzled because the cord popped out and I had to do a mad rush to save my dropped stitches so I wouldn't have to re-knit my project. Anyway, I mailed the two cords back to the company and about a week later, I get an envelope from Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles with a letter apologizing and giving a possible explanation of why two of my cords broke (my set was made more than two years ago, which is prior to when they changed their machines to make less bubbles in the cords - or something to that effect) and then they sent me a WHOLE NEW SET of cords. That is so awesome! Definite 5 stars for one of the best inventions ever and the BEST customer service!
