Michael's is pretty handy because they have a really wide selection of all your basic arts and crafts supplies. Jewelry making, beads, scrap booking, wedding, floral, decor, frames, yarn, painting and drawing supplies, to name a few. They are on the expensive side if you don't use coupons...once someone commissioned me to decorate a wedding car last minute and all the floral supplies were over $400...Whaat? No they weren't made of gold! BUT they have sales all the time, and coupons for 40-50 percent off, in the app or mail or on receipts. When you need items in bulk or a bigger selection of certain things, online or specialty stores are a better bet, but Michael's had a good selection of the basics- just look for sales and don't forget your coupons! read more

The Worst experience ever! We went to the store to buy pens which are locked up. Not that big a deal unless you want to buy them, then you cant get anyone to open the case. We asked for someone to open it up then waited and waited and waited. We finally pushed our hands through the bars and started pulling out what we needed. Ten minutes later after no one came to help we had what we needed and decided we had had enough and would leave with what we had. We go to get in line and there are at least six groups of people in line and only one cashier. After waiting through two long transactions the manager walks up with a new cashier to open another line. The cashier started helping the person who had been in front of us and we stayed in our line. A couple seconds later the manager hollered at us that they could help us over at the other line and we should switch lines. We get there and they were still helping the other customer original customer. WHY CALL US OVER? We not only then had to listen to you gab about how your the new manager and don't know the cash registers but the people who had been behind us in the other line were done and checked BEFORE we even got to start checking out. This is definitely the worst Michael's has to offer. I like Michael's because it's close to my house and the have great sales (as all Michael's do). I have been to many Michael's stores but this one in particular irritates me. Many who work here have bland attitudes and appear as if they hate their job. I'll just make my way to Escondido, they have way better service. Ps. They appear to be low staffed. After being forced to stay at home I was looking forward to going to micheals after a long day of work. My wife and I went to this location to and to our dismay they had closed nearly 20 min early. As we were standing outside the door several employees just stood and stared at us, it took us knocking. I've never been to this specific Michael's before but I do have to say the employees are very friendly and helpful. they have tons of cool things, I went in tonight to get a poster and frame. I was helped out in the framing department by Chris. Chris was very very helpful he made my experience a lot easier and was very knowledgeable he even mentioned to me that there was a coupon online which saved me $12. Rude sales people! This store is closer to where I live, but I only go to this store in a pinch. I went there last week and as usual the store was cluttered and messy. The worst part about it is that the sales people are very rude. I asked one sales clerk where I could find an item and she sighed really loud , rolled her eyes and pointed in the general direction of where the item should be. Don't even get me started on how they handle returns. It's the most confusing process I've ever experienced. Stand in one line, oops, wrong line, go stand in another line to wait and wait and wait. Maybe that's their way of discouraging you from returning items. I will continue to go to the Michaels in Escondido where the store is cleaner and the sales people are helpful. read more

I literally am in disbelief that this store has anything above 2 stars. Sure, they have a good variety of yarn but could one single employee even be able to tell you where it is? I have had a number of disappointing Michael's experiences but today really took the cake...even more so than when I asked for "TULLE" the cashier asked me "What kind of tool?" The WORST customer service!!!! I've been shopping here since April and seriously I could have my 9 year old granddaughter do a better job than the lazies at this store. Yesterday walked in to No one in line, two cashiers taking personal stuff, walked up to ask a question about something they might carry. I am giving the Michael's in VIsta a 5 star review, because I absolutely LOVE the staff that works in the framing department. They are the BEST. They ALWAYS do a super professional job, are extremely conscientious about trying to get the work done as quickly as possible, and the pricing cannot be beat. I think they could use an extra helper especially during the holidays, because Jeanne and Noah and the other staff are some of the hardest working people I have known in the retail business. They are constantly extremely busy, but consistently give excellent customer service. I have been taking my projects to them for years, and have always received the most awesome service. Employees here are rude and unhelpful and always seem to have a new policy regarding their coupons every time you come in. Nothing is ever consistent, nor do their "policies" match their printed marketing. Makes shopping here an unpleasant experience. Chris in the Framing Department is OUTSTANDING! This is the second time I've gone to Michaels for framing and the first time I had a cross stitch project framed. What makes Chris so unique is that he reassured me that my project would be framed despite only having 1/2 inch on one side for the matting. Went to Michael ' s on Black Friday. In their whole store there is not one item for anyone Jewish or any other religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas. Not a blue ribbon or wrapping paper. I'm very disappointed today I walked in this location looking for plastic envelopes for some invitations I'm making, I showed the worker the sample and asked where I could find them and she called the in store manager to asked and she said they didn't sale them, I know I had seen them there before so I just walked around the store my self and found the envelopes that they ""didn't sale there"" I didn't find the right size and I asked the manager my self if they could call in another store for the right size and he said they wouldn't know because they need the actual item number... My wife loves michaels because she is an artist and they seem to have everything. They may not be the cheapest, but the selection if tough to beat. Also, it seems like there are a ton of sales and you can always get a 40-50% off coupon. Make sure you check the Michael's app for the current sale. The customer service is also very nice as the lady at the checkout helped us to use multiple coupons! I would recommend not letting your wife go into Michael's too often if she is into crafts because she will want to buy everything. read more

Im an avid beader/Jewelry designer and I stopped into Michael's Scouting out there beads More than once...There ok prices on their beads,But ive seen better. However the quality is great. The customer Service is not that Great and their signage is mis-leading...I went there during a sale, when there strands were 2 for 8 bucks and I brought my two strands and one of them was not part of the sale, Being that I have worked retail before, I know how to read small print on signage, and it did not say anywhere that some strands were excluded....The signs were in place in every strand section...Overall I do go back because they do have good deals,but Im in and out because the customer service is not that great. read more

Customer service is a an understatement when it came to the guy who helped me today. His name was Chris. He went above and beyond to help me find the things I was looking for and even made some unique / crafty suggestions when I was stuck on how I was going to bind together a planner. He offered up some really clever ideas, like using leather strips or cords and to tie them in a bow. Even I couldn't think of something so creative. This guy deserves a raise. He was very polite and he knew what he was talking about. As I walked around the store I noticed several other customers with questions. Not one of them walked away without a smile on their face. I am very disappointed in the politically correct position Michael's has taken. I wanted to pick up a Christmas themed (Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus cut-out) and one of the employees told me that Michael's does not do "religious themed" items. She said that "We like to stay neutral" . I responded but it is Christmas and Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus is what Christmas is about.From now on, I am taking all my future business to Hobby Lobby and other businesses that honor Christmas. I have had an ongoing battle regarding their price match policy. They claim to beat prices, take competitor coupons, but when going up to the register to check out I am told they don't take this specific coupon. Yet no where in the store is the policy listed. As a previous retail manager, I find this to be horrible customer service. Being told to look on their website to read the policy made me leave my cart sitting in the store. There are a few very nice employees, but for the most part the store is uncomfortable to shop in when you get looks for managers and associates of disappointment, it sure makes me not want to come back in. There is no consistency between store to store either. I am so disgusted that I will not shop at a Michael's again and will tell everyone I know what a horrible place it is also. read more

I had a photo I needed framed on VERY short notice and this Michael's location was the only place out of 8 frame shops that would accommodate my request. They were extremely friendly and the framing manager's (Jeanne) work was impeccable!! I am extremely satisfied with their high level of service and the quality of the product. I find it interesting that this location and the one in Oceanside are quite different. I have found two very different stocked stores while looking for materials for my kids. I appreciated that there was a ton of workers stocking the store however it was odd that no one asked me if I needed anything after looking around the whole store twice.
