I am glad I came here instead of Walmart the day before Thanksgiving. I needed cake rounds for 2 cakes and found exactly what I needed in the bake aisle, which is straight to the right as soon as you enter. After I found what I needed, I was set to go. There was a line and only one cashier, but they did mention the option to self-checkout, which at first I didn't want to use, but ended up utilizing it. I had an issue while trying to use the app for my coupon, but one lady did come and help. But if you don't mind missing out on traffic, go to Michael's for your bake needs. read more

This Michael's location is pretty old and not huge, but it seemed to have everything I expect at a Michael's location. When I'm at Michael's, it's almost always for one of two things: (1) painting supplies (just for fun) or (2) custom frames for art or prints I bought. I've been to this location for the latter, and the frames turned out nice. It wasn't as affordable as I remembered from the last time I framed art at a Michael's store, but they did a good job. A fine store if you need some art or hobby supplies or if you need some framing done! read more

I do very much like this store but I often find that it's under staffed. As an avid baker, I love coming here. They have great supplies between cake pans, pre made fondant, sprinkles...you name it they have it. I was coming here a lot. Maybe once per week and getting things. Often I would have to wait a little bit to take home my supplies, but this store is always well stocked. Since I do think Michaels can be a little bit overpriced, I would try and find a coupon to bring in and sometimes they would have them right there at the register. You will be able to find everything you need for arts and crafts otherwise just know its going to be busy (and that includes the parking lot). read more

I had a wonderful experience. Employees were kind and someone even walked me to the keychains (as they were all the way in the back of the store) Michael's had a great selection of trendy key accessories including lanyards, key chains, poof balls and mini wallets. I loved it! I initially came in for 1 key accessory but ended up buying 3. I even bought two pieces of chocolate in the front. Overall, I spent $13 bucks which is a steal. Despite her job being a cashier who should bag your items, she literally rolled her eyes each time she was asked to bag something. I wont even get into how she couldn't even crack a smile. I placed an online order that never came so I decided to go in on my own. I grabbed all the items and went to the check out so they could scan my items that were already paid. The old lady, her name was Dianne, was absurdly rude to me at a point she made me and my roommate cry. She started throwing the paints that I had and said it was "wrong" when it was exactly what I had in my online order. She kept giving me stares and said that I needed to fix my attitude when I was nothing but polite to her. It was not just us that noticed her rudeness, other customers pitched in and agreed how nasty she was. If you are working in customer service, there is NO reason to be so negative and rude to the customers!!!! I will definitely not be going back to this specific location if Dianne is there. read more

As a adult art student at Towson State--just around the corner from this store---I am appalled at the poor stocking and lack of service when it comes to fine art supplies. Specialty ine arts papers are not stocked, and they were out of stock of the charcoal paper that I was looking for. No vine charcoal either. They art sections were a mess, everything out of order. Being so close to a nationally known art department at Towson State, you'd think they would cater to these student customers. Certainly, I'd like the convenience of the parking in the mall that this store resides. But going to this store trying to find all the fine art supplies you need is a waste of time. read more

No wonder this place has really bad reviews... I visited this store 2/29/2016. I bought a mat board and asked if it could be cut for me. The store employee by the name of "Frank" told me he would charge me 50% of the to get it cut. I had never been charged for cutting a mat board in store, thus I inquired if this was new store policy and he said the following, "No, I'm just charging you because I have been cutting mat boards all day long and I'm tired." I thought he was joking, but his rude tone and his unwillingness to help was amazing! Unbelievable! I called the manager to see if she would be of assistance and after the manager spoke to the employee she told me that there was nothing she could do if he wanted to charge extra for cutting the board. hahaha. Ridiculous! Never going back to that Michaels again and will try to go to Jo-Ann or the Hobby Lobby before trying another Michaels store. read more

Although, this location is small they normally have a good stock, just never a large quantity of it. I normally find one or two of the item, but not a bunch. The main issue is staffing. There never seems to be enough employees to help. They've also changed the Wilton courses. So now I will visit the White Marsh location, which is large enough to accommodate my scheduling needs. The Towson branch is good in a pinch. They are always willing to let you know if another store has the item you need if it's not in stock here. read more

I didn't have any yarn left to knit and since I was in the area I decided to pop in.. The store was pretty empty. I went straight to the yarn department and right on the end cap just what I was looking for was on sale. Even though I am not a Steelers fan they had team spirit yarn that was on sale for just #3.99 I picked up a few and headed to the cashier. customer service was terrible. I came in to a store I was unfamiliar with looking for art supplies. I had a specific list, but out of the associates I have seen on the floor non offered help or seem to have blinders up when a customer was near by. I did flag down one associate to help me and she did give me a price scan, but I should not have to flag someone down to get help. The items also did not have price tags on them so carrying a few canvas boards I had to get those priced to decide which ones to get. I did end up buying canvas boards but did not buy anything else due to the Customer service with the people that "suppose" to work the floor. This location seems like many other Michael's stores I've visited, nothing outstanding, decent selection, okay employees, although this site was smaller than others I've been to. Organization was fine - it seems like Michael's is standardizing all its stores so the layouts are as similar as can be. There weren't many holes in its merchandise, though, with a 70% off sale at the strung beads, there were many beads that I was looking for that were gone. Lots of sales throughout the store and many coupons available online - no need to buy ANYTHING for full price here unless you need it immediately. read more

I recently did some custom framing at this particular Michael's with Marie R. I took in two pieces--a photo and an art print. The photo looks fine. It turned out to be a frame and a piece of glass for $220 ish. Looks like I bought it right off the shelf. The art print was smaller and I was hoping to spend less than $200 on it. We picked out two-tone matting and a frame and it came to $110 ish (more in line with what I was looking to spend). I left the store shocked over paying so much for framing that was "60% off" -- I was scheduled to return on 7/10/11 to pick up both pieces. Turns out our dear friend Marie R didn't ring up the framing for the art piece we selected, hence the low price. She called on 7/9/11--the day before I'm suppose to pick up the order--to explain that to frame selection was never entered into the system. She had only charged us for some matting and a $100 piece of glass. I asked her how this happened, and she explained that it was a computer error. I asked how she only realized this the day before I'm suppose to pick this up? She then hints that I also had a copy of the receipt and saw the order and didn't notice the mistake either--as if I am partially responsible for her mistake. Yeah, I didn't get the copy of the order until after I paid for it, figuring that I wouldn't need to re-review the order we had just discussed for 15 minutes. It took her about 10 minutes into our angry conversation to apologize for her mistake. "I'm sorry I screwed up" should have been the first words out of her mouth. F in the customer service department, C+ for the execution of the framing. I will never go to Michael's for a custom framing job again. read more

I came here many times when I was an art student at Towson University and EVERY time I was there, every single staff member I encountered seemed miserable, and sometimes they were openly rude, acting as if my coming there was an inconvenience. This specific store is also very dark inside. Your people need more natural sunlight, Michael's. read more

Very limited frame selection. They did a very poor job of flattening posters before framing, had to go back and get it redone. They may be the cheapest around so if you're looking for a bargain this might be the place ... as long as you're not picky. read more

Pretty disappointed in Michaels. As an avid crafter, I often go into Michaels to pick up supplies and I shop in there at least once a week, spending a good portion of money. Last month, I went in there to get a canvas and supplies to make my wedding guestbook. While grabbing a canvas, a fire extinguisher that was not properly secured fell off the fall, onto my foot, breaking my toe in two places. I was given the information to their insurance and went to the emergency room as suggested by the Michaels manager. I was contacted the next day by the insurance claim representative, who took my "statement" and then asked for a release of information for my billing and medical information. Now, almost two months later, I received a letter stating that they did not find any fault in the store and that they would not be paying my medical bills. Thankfully, I have insurance and can (somewhat) afford the deductible and copay, but this puts a tremendous financial strain. Not to mention that it impacted the sports that I paid money to play, and also my job in some aspects, as I work with kids and had to go on light duty. I didn't go into the store expecting to knock over a fire extinguisher and break my toe, and because of this, I will no longer be purchasing from Michaels, which is really unfortunate because it's one of my favorite stores. They've already taken hundreds of dollars from me in medical bills now. Oh, and the fire extinguisher is still on the wall, unsecure. Let's hope a child doesn't knock it over next time. read more

I've been shopping at this location for over 15 years. Over the last 10 years I've shopped here consistently at least 2-3 times a week, assist customers with purchases while shopping, engage in classes & I always have a cheerful demeanor. The employees & I even have a running joke that I need to come pick up my paycheck for all of the assistance I provide to their customers while I am shopping. Over the years I have acquired friendships with a few of the employees as well has have a great rapport with the other employees. Recently, I HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE & I FEEL IT'S NOT ONLY INEXCUSABLE IT IS ALSO UNCONSCIONABLE. This is the Season to be THANKFUL & it has reminded that everyone isn't going to be so thankful or professional. While shopping one day while my young daughter was engaged in a craft class, I made an inquiry to an employee about some sale items that are sold at the store. While speaking with this particular employee the Sotre Manager radioed her to come to the store office. Please be mindful that I see this particular Store Manager on a regular basis as well engage in dialogue with her each time I shop while she's working. When the employee returned to the sales floor she advised me that the Store Manager advised her to tell me that, "I cannot come into the store talking to the employees because I am a distraction & noted that I shop at least three times a week". Needless to say I was devastated!! I thought Customer Service was the hallmark of Michael's!! When did it become a crime for a Customer to speak to an employee and when did it become a crime to support a business financially?? Perhaps I'm missing something. The Store Managers actions were inappropriate & unprofessional to say the least. I would be remiss to say that I also felt offended and discriminated against as I am a woman of color and the employee that I was speaking with was the only employee of color on the sales floor. Later that day, I wrote a scathing email to the corporate office, not limited to a detailed account of my negative experience but also provided "my customer resume". It wasn't until I wrote multiple emails that the District manager finally contacted with "fluff" nor did he address my concerns & then he became unavailable or should I say not easily available. I also received an email from the Store Manager stating, "I would love a chance to meet with you in person so we can resolve this. I would really like to resolve this and keep you as the amazing customer you are". But yet, I wasn't an amazing customer that day! I sent the District Manager another email expressing my displeasure's & the only option he provided was that I meet with the Store Manager & except her verbal apology. I reiterated to him how upset I was. In return he was very nonchalant with me, told me that the Store Manager "didn't mean it that way" and that she wants to personally meet with me to apologize. I was shocked that he would agree that this would be acceptable. Please note, I was not unreasonable and I maintained my professional demeanor at all times. For the mere fact that I've shopped here for so long I pretty much know store policies & or procedures. Typically, if a customer has a bad experience they're offered a 10% off your next purchase coupon. I was offered ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! Although I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars at this particular location, the STORE MANAGER as well as the DISTRICT MANAGER has left a very bad impression on how they are THANKFUL for their customers. There was no unaccountably in this negative experience! Although the District Manager didn't seem concerned that I shared with him that I will escalate this issue, I would like for him to know that it's appalling that I would be forced to do so for the mere fact that he wasn't willing to work with me. Apparently he didn't care enough; however, I am sure that Chuck Rubin (Chairman & CEO), Kiley Rawlins (VP, IR & Communications) and Denise Paulonis (CFO & COM) would like to know how the leadership of this company is treating their valued customers and how grievances are being handled. read more

This Michaels does have horrible customer service. I went at approximately 6:00PM on 06/09/2017. The woman at the register did not great me with at least a hello, was extremely nasty and rude. My assumption is that she wanted to get off work. If that's the case, then why call for the next customer? The place looks like a pigsty, and has a very limited selection. This was my first and last time at this Michaels location. Never again, and I do not recommend this location. read more
