Wow. I have never…read morebeen to a "yarn shop" like this. I really don't think this should be called a yarn shop. It's more of an antique shop type of feel, if a horder enjoyed a hobby of knitting. There is yarn - kinda sorta - but there's exponentially more chotchkies. I had to actually step back and take it all in - yep, the chotchkies are all for sale, so they're there on purpose. Yarn. Meh... kinda. Nothing that grabbed my attention and made me want to buy some. I drove out of my way to come here? Good thing I parked where I didn't have to pay for parking. Yikes. What they did have a LOT of for sale was hand-knit things: socks, dishcloths, hats. So peculiar. What knitter wants to go to a "yarn shop" and buy someone else's hand-knit goods? This shop was so baffling. What really emphasized the awkwardness & weirdness of this shop (I can't call it a yarn shop) was the person behind the counter. She wasn't friendly, nor welcoming; she seemed bothered that I was there. Trust me, I became just as bothered to be there. I walked out empty-handed, completely befuddled, and kicking myself for driving so far just for this really-not-at-all "yarn shop".

The staff there was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly in getting us in the right direction. They have a very large inventory, giving you several options with styles and colors and were eager to work with us in our search. First and foremost, true Amish/Mennonite quilts are Works of Art! Hundreds upon hundreds of hours and Hand Stitching went into these pieces. They are not machine produced. Can you find a cheaper quilt elsewhere in the area there, sure ... but buyer beware, you get what pay for. In the several stores we went to, selection and quality was far inferior! Storing and displaying quilts was also subpar! Folded up and in stacks like your shopping for t-shirts. Shop around at the cheaper places if you want, but a stop at Millers should be on your list if you want true quality and professional service!

Upon arrival, there were white gloves to put on before handling any of the quilts. The 2 ladies there were very helpful. The quilts were all hung on dowls that you can go through and when I found the one I wanted, they kindly put it on the bed so I could see all the beauty. I was explained who made it and a little history behind the quilt. The more I looked at it, the more I felt that this wasn't the "one". When I told the Manager that I was looking at another shop, she completely encouraged me to go look, that when you pay a price for a quilt, you should love it. I was blown away by her saying that. That being said, I did go to another shop and purchased "the one" quilt.....but when I got home I called Millers and bought the one I looked at because it grew on me. Since I "liked" their page I've been meaning to check them out. It took me awhile but finally got there last Friday night for a book reading/crafting event for kids for $5 I knew a little about the business and what they offered from Facebook but didn't really understand the concept till I was there. You can craft here a number of ways. On their walls they have tons of completed projects that can be customized just for you. Mainly the trendy graphic signs and such. For a fee they provide all the supplies, crafting space, and additional materials (glues, etc) as well as instruction. For graphic signs you pick from their enormous supply of specialty papers and they'll cut out the design on their circuit machine, provide instruction than you complete the project. You can customize the print, size, font, papers, and the backboard. You *may* even be able to bring your own design to them to see if it's something they can do. The crafting space is spacious and cozy - the perfect space to connect with friends and socialize while you craft. An added bonus is they do the clean up! While the projects on display are not for sale they are priced so you know how much it will cost to make. While I did feel the prices were the same or higher than buying the project premade from Etsy (for example) the experience and girls night out would make up for it. In addition to crafting on your own they offer workshops for specific projects ranging from graphic signs to string art - both for adults and children. The event we attended was a few days before Christmas. The children were encouraged to come in their jammies to hear a Christmas story, drink hot cocoa, than craft a wooden ornament. All for only $5! Our girls loved the experience and as grandparents we enjoyed that the painting, glue, and mess wasn't in our house! We'll definitely be back to craft some more.
