If you like Etsy you'll LOVE Prussian Street Arcade! I'm not sure what took me so long to check this place out but so glad I did. It's worth a trip from anywhere in Central PA. Now for what it is...described as an antique mall or flea market (co -op where there's different vendor spaces), it'a a mecca for many different booths of awesomeness. Each booth represents a different vendor selling their wares. More curated than collected each artisan exhibits top notch craftsmanship and creativity. They carry everything from unique handmade items, to creative up-cycles, to modern and timeless vintage items, to gourmet shelf staple foods. You'll find something for everyone on your Christmas list. And because each vendor is a local craftsman or small business - it's shopping you'll feel good about. The space could not be more perfect. I was told it was an old chip factory in it's prior life and the unique architectural features are the perfect backdrop. With exposed beams and windows flooding the space with natural sunlight it's as pretty as the goods featured. There's plenty of parking, it's easy to find right on route 72 in the middle of Manheim, and with a bakery next door, you have everything you need to stay for hours browsing. It's the perfect girls day out adventure. If you're like me you'll be in awe that such a marketplace exists outside of Waco, Texas.

This is a resource to the community where you pay a membership fee and borrow tool so you don't have to buy into the consumerism culture. They also offer classes so you can learn a skill. I started following them on Instagram and saw that they were having a fix-it fair where you can take everything from close to vacuums to Vitamix to knives to get it all fixed for free! Honestly, what a great resource to the community and I have been wanting to get my knife sharpened for years. It was so lovely to go. Carlos, an instructor at the tool library was so kind and educational. Let me film content, and was a delight overall. I believe the fix-it fair happens twice a year and I am definitely thinking about volunteering at the next event! I will definitely be back to take a course and learn. Truly a magical spot in the city.

It's not much of a community, especially with only one open day a week and limited space. I would have loved it if the classes had provided an opportunity to find people to work with or make new friends. Or if there were ways to get information and help with projects online.

Located in Philly's fashion district, the large space has room for filming, recording, photography, podcasts, and even live performances. As amazing as the location, I think the true value is in the sense of community among other creatives. The membership's credit system makes using various studios and equipment super simple. Sly, was an amazing tour guide and gave so much insight and REC Philly's back story, I was already sold but it was great to hear his passion and commitment. I love the hours of 10am to 10pm to accommodate schedules and that members have exclusive access to courses and events. Still not sold, schedule a tour of the facility and purchase, William Tyrone Toms' (REC Philly's co-owner), (UN)common Sense, it's a great blue print for those looking to get paid while having creative freedom.
