After having heard high recommendations from a family friend I took my wedding dress into Michaels to be altered. I think Michael is probably a very good tailor, and my wedding dress was probably too intricate and difficult of a job for him to do. Instead of saying no to me, he charged me an arm and a leg for work I had to take to another location to be fixed. When I went to pick up my dress, it was not done, despite having been told it was finished and ready for pick up. I needed the dress to be shortened, the sleeves pulled up, a bustle added and applique added to the neckline. When I got there only the length and sleeves had been shortened. I wanted part of the neckline covered, ideally using applique or lace left over from shortening the dress. Instead Michael took a scrap of white, men's shirt material off the floor, folded it into a triangle, and hand-stitched it in, it looked awful and not at all what I had asked for when I facetimed my mom in a panic, he pulled a piece of lace from the floor and stitched that in. Not entirely satisfied but not seeing any alternative to the work he had done, I let him work on the bustle. He did a one-point French bustle, while I waited 45 minutes for him to complete it. He rushed and by the time he was done didn't let me try it on and test the bustle he had just put in. When I got home and put on the dress, in daylight the piece of lace he had put in the front was entirely the wrong color and looked terrible, and the bustle still had most of the dress laying on the ground. Not trusting Michael to fix these mistakes I ended up having to go to a different alterations place, where they added applique appropriately and added TWO more places to correctly bustle the dress. While I would like to give Michael the benefit of the doubt, I wish he had told me my dress was too much for him to alter and sent me on my way. I'm sure Michael is very talented at what he does, but this was not a good experience. read more

This is the same post as in Michaels Fine Tailoring company listed on Yelp in Framingham, MA. I am giving this Michael a 1 star just because I need to give something...I brought my Hugo Boss dress, Hugo Boss linen pants and Burberry sailor shorts in because I was referred by Hugo Boss (their seamstress was not in on the day that I was in the area). At first I thought Michael (he did the alterations himself) was quick and precise, but when I went to pick up the clothing he was everything but!! I think this guy has too much on his plate and things resulting in sloppy work. My dress had to be taken out and had a lining which also had to be taken out. I noticed that he did not bother to fix the lining- no wonder the dress did not fit properly. The linen pants were a light blue color that needed to be taken out as well. Michael's fine tailoring put 2 holes in the pocket area where the seam meets and did not bother to fix that either and the back of the pants were not sewn tight enough. I also got them back with a black dirt mark on them. The Burberry shorts had to be taken in because they were fitting loose. He basically did these on the spot. He pulled them apart and used the sewing machine on the spot (removed the Burberry tag and all while I was waiting). I got them back with the Burberry tag (on the inside of the pant) sewn back which was crooked. The waistline was also sewn sloppy (none of the seams met and were uneven). At the prices he charges ($65 for the dress, $35 for the linen pants, and $25 for the shorts) I would expect better. I could have sewn the burberry tag on myself and it would have looked better. I will be calling Michael but don't know if I will have him re-fix the mistakes... Overall, I would NOT recommend Michaels Tailor Shop at 60 Worchester RD (Rt. 9) in Framingham (in the Jos.A. Bank plaza) to anyone. read more

I have bought a few suits from Jo Bank, and they send you to Michael's in the back. I agree with the other reviewer that he seems to have way too much business and rushes through. He also seems to tailor everything generically, vs really measuring and fitting to you. I had several dress pants (part of suits) that he tailored where the hips and thighs are sort of bagged out, and then the legs are much narrower. I doubt anyone would notice, but I definitely feel it every time I wear them and it bugs me. I give him very low grades, and Jo Bank even lower for blindly referring people to him. He's also a little cocky and annoying. Would not recommend him nor go back to him. read more

Annalisa, looking at your profile, all your reviews are negative for every place you've written about. There seems to be something wrong here. Why are you giving Michael the tailor a 1 star? I hope your joking. Ive been going there with my family for the past 10 years. This guy has the best customer service. He loves his job. Try comparing his quality of tailoring and pricing with other tailors in the area. You will not find anyone near to his quality. Michael has invisible weaved my suit jackets in the passed. Find me how many tailors in New England that can even do that for his price? Ive called other tailors before and IF they can invisible weave, (chances are unlikely), their prices are insane. Any kind of tailoring, you name it, Michael will do it for when you need it. And his personality is exceptional. Please, if your gonna write a review about a place (@Annalisa), I would appreciate it if you do not mislead others. Looking at your post, Ive seen more people find your review funny than useful. People will catch on how FAKE your post is. All you yelp users, listen up. I've been using Michael's Tailor Shop for over a decade and have always been pleased with the quality of his work. He has done a great job altering my slacks, suits, bathing suits, and shirts, and my wife's dresses and complicated designer plants. My wife is a pretty good seamstress and Michael has been able to alter designer pants and dresses that she has tried to alter herself and given up on. His rates area reasonable and he has been able to accommodate even quick turnarounds when asked. I have no problem recommending his shop. read more

I can not recommend this shop. I have visited Michael 3 times. The first time he took in a dress for me and also took in a suite for my husband. We loved the work he did so I went back again with a pair of jeans. When he measured my jeans and put the pins in I told him I thought he measured them too short so he redid it and made them longer. When I came to pick them up I saw that he went with his original markings which made my jeans too short. I can only wear flats with them now. Despite the fact that he ruined my jeans I decided to give him one more shot because he did a good job for us on our first visit. I brought in a bridesmaid's dress that I need to wear for my sister's wedding. I'm sorry to say he ruined it. When I tried on the dress to see his alternations there were big stitches going from the front of the dress to the back side of the dress. It looked horrible. He said it was a mistake and quickly removed the stitches. I also noticed what looks like a big pull in the front of the dress and he said that's a stitch he needed to make in the dress to hold the cups he put in in place (I don't know why he couldn't hide it better). Finally when we were checking out my husband pointed out a white stain on the dress on the hip area which wasn't there before. Michael tried to remove it (and it did come out a little) but the stain is still obvious. He quickly shoved the dress in a bag so I couldn't inspect it anymore and sent me on my way. I was so devastated I didn't even know what to do. I guess I will have to pay to get it cleaned. While we were waiting for his stain stick to set in my dress he showed us a designer dress he said was $3,000 that someone brought in to be altered. The dress was literally crumpled in a ball on his desk. 2 out of 3 times Michael ruined my clothes. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because he did a good job the first time. read more

Michael does fantastic work! He has altered new clothing that didn't fit me at all because of the weight I had gained. He made them fit beautifully. Now that I am skinny again, he has worked miracles, making new clothing fit perfectly. Michael is not an inexpensive tailor, but I can always count on his work to be perfect. read more
