I like Michael's and while my mom and I were doing acrylic painting together one day, we went shopping to buy more canvas and paint. She lives in the boondocks so we came here. They had a lot of neon acrylic paint but didn't have much to choose from in regular colors; a lot of the skus were sold out. When we were checking out, we went to separate registers as the store was busy. I found out after we left we had different experiences at checkout. While the cashier that helped my mom was really nice to her and even went out of her way to have someone get some push pins for her, the cashier helping me was the total opposite. I've been receiving coupons from Michael's via email for years. When I told the cashier I had a coupon and started to look for it on my phone, she told me they don't send coupons out to customers that way. I said yes, they do and asked her to wait until I got the coupon up on my phone to scan it. She then told me the total and asked me to pay without waiting for the coupon. I then saw my mom waiting for me so I paid and left. I won't be coming back here. read more

This is by far the worst Michael's store that I have been to. I just moved here and was excited to try out the neighborhood Michaels. My excitement however quickly diminished by how this store is managed and by how little inventory they have. I have been here a few times already and every time I came in, all I saw was boxes laying around the store making it really hard to shop. I will definitely try finding a new Michaels to go to next time. read more

I am a watercolor artist, and recently did a full sheet for my father. My mother thought she could go with a standard frame, which was super affordable but not worthy of my original masterpiece. She soon realized her error and I was called in to assist in the framing redo. Paul at the AaronBros framing department was amazing!! He has an excellent eye, we picked out a fab frame, matting etc. Paul also have us a refund on the previous frames. My mother was so relieved and thankful to Paul that she gave him a hug. I would highly recommend the Silverdale Michaels for ant framing project. They are really pros and Paul is very knowledgeable. read more

A necessary evil, Michaels has things I need quickly. (Isn't it amazing that overnight delivery from Amazon sometimes isn't fast enough? I'm searching for a hole punch & some butcher's twine. Seems simple enough. Because wandering the whole store means I'll find stuff I like but shouldn't buy, I stop a salesperson about butcher's twine as soon as I'm in the door. (Get in/Get out.) Without thinking she prays on her com device for the answer to the Great & Wonderful Oz. The answer relayed to me is (spooky voice) "aisle 107 & 106." I thank the medium and trot off. Finally finding the poorly marked row, I find myself in "wedding-land." This is definitely not where butcher's twine is or is meant to be. I see another salesperson and ask the same. Just as quickly, she prays to the invisible being the same question. Before her prayers are answered, I let her know I asked once and was sent somewhere the twine was not and didn't look to ever have been. She relays the standard, "go away, I'm busy, I don't care" answer of all lazy people: "Then we're out and we'll be getting a shipment of it soon." Time for a store tour. Of course I find the pricy twine and take the purchase to counter (first salesperson). I realize I have forgotten a hole punch. I ask the first supplicant. She prays and I'm given the aisle number. With trepidation & doubt in my heart, I trot off. I'm back in weddings. (What is it with pushing the wedding supplies?) A brilliant light bulb shines over my head as my brain turns up a notch: Michael's is online and sometimes they'll list the item location in the description. Sure e'nuff I find the hole punch. I find DOZENS of punches... scattered in different areas of the store. Time for another tour. I also find more (and cheaper) twine In a different location that the original. I'm finally satisfied by my purchases, but my basic 10 minutes task has turned into 45 minutes. THAT's what I object to. Lesson learned: Shop Michael's online and just pick up the package. read more

Normally I would rate higher, but today was a "you have got to be kidding me day." I went up to the cashier and placed my stuff on the counter. She didn't say one word to me. Another worker had told her she needs to stay on cashier until her replacement shows up. I am guessing she did not like that. She rings my things up and all the while is smacking gum very loudly. The only thing she said is what my total was. After I paid, she slammed the bag down at me. I really wanted to go off on her, but I walked out shaking my head. Will this stop me from coming back? No, I will make sure not to go to her. Watch out for the girl with teal colored hair. Very rude and unprofessional. read more

My most recent journey to Michaels was for a very few easy-to-obtain craft items. They had about half of them and promised to have a couple others soon. My bag of goodies weighed about 8 ounces and cost over $20. WAYYYY too expensive, and whimsically, they're right next door to a Dollar Tree where some of the very same stuff that sells for $3 or $5 at Michaels is $1 next door. But items like five very small puffy-stickers on an inch-tall three-inch-wide strip of plastic, $4. There is a cheaper place in town, and it isn't even cheap: Scrapbook Zone. Gosh, I just don't know. I rather like a lot of this craft kitsch and geegaws, but the prices are basically ridiculous, and if you can by any means make something yourself without components from a store like this, by all means make it yourself. read more

I normally shop here a lot but I was disgusted on Wednesday night when I got checked out around 4:30/5 pm and the cashier burped super loud in my face.....ew....and the stood there and had conversation with her coworkers and didn't even hand me my bag from behind the counter. Very rude! read more

Lately, I have been all about painting, making crafts with my hot glue gun, and rhinestones. Michael's is like my one-stop shopping place for bringing my creativity and imagination to life (aside from Joann's, maybe). They have a wide assortment of paints, varnishes, canvases, brushes, and other products. The same goes for beads, rhinestones, and other little things that you can use for making jewelry or accessories. I like this place better than Joann's because it has most of the supplies that I need for my projects and sometimes at a somewhat cheaper price. But then again - I don't have a sewing machine. I think one of the only reasons people would choose Joann's over Michael's is just the fact that Joann's sells sewing machines, fabric, and a wider assortment of ribbons and yarn. read more

I can literally spend hours here- and today I did just that. They have a decent selection. I come here mainly because they are the only local brick and mortar store that carries a decent selection of polymer clay that's close by. They have also a wide selection of planner accessories and for a planner gal like me it's wonderful. Overall, great store, and helpful employees. read more

So I went in two days in a row to get some flowers for my daughters graduation and there was a sale sign on all the flower stands stating 50% off all spring and summer flower. A straight forward sign. When I got to the counter they weren't ringing up right. Cashier said only certain ones on sale. Of course I didn't have time to go back and check so I paid. Came back the next day and bought more flowers and I was sure to check the signs to make sure. Again I had the same issue at the register. I mentioned the sign. Cashier calls the manager and I'm told only certain ones. Frustrated I went back and brought the sign up and it said "ALL SPRING AND SUMMER FLOWERS AND STEM" nothing about certain colored tags or such. Signs where all over the ones I got. Again same cashier from yesterday told me "only green labels " . Nothing on the damn sign said green label. It's said "ALL SPRING AND SUMMER". And of course there was a line because there was only one cashier. Not wanting to hold up people anymore, I politely told the cashier to tell her manager to fix the signs because they are very misleading. So much for customer service. read more

I'm very concerned about the state of my local Michaels. Every year I come shopping for Christmas craft supplies - something Michael's has always specialized in. I just went tonight and the shelves were 75% empty. I couldn't believe it. So I started thinking that maybe they just havent yet stocked new incoming items for the season yet. So I strolled around, found a few items of interest, did two laps around the store looking for tried and true scrapbook/cardstock packs of christmas/holiday theme - which usually there are TONS of options but there was literally 1 pack that was semi-holiday theme with some pine tree and log/snow designs. Otherwise nothing. When I asked the clerk at check out he told me that they just "recieve what they recieve every year and it changes". So then I asked if they were waiting on a shipment of holiday items because their shelves are literally completely empty and he said "no". Is this store closing? What is going on? This experience truly soured this location for me, I travelled 45 minutes from the rural farm area of Chimacum to do my yearly shop at Michael's and I walked out spending only $20 on random pens instead of the planned big stock up trip. Please tell me it's not closing and going out of business?! read more

I had 5 pieces to frame and every time I went to Michael's competition, there was no one in the framing department. I was told on several different visits that the framing person at the competition was lunch and I had to wait for them to come back in 30 minutes. It's not the person's fault because they have to go to lunch when scheduled. After this, I decided to try Michael's framing department. Both times I have visited, there have been very helpful staff at the framing desk. I picked up 2 pieces today, which came out beautifully, after the framing manager spent 25 minutes helping me pick out the right color mat. Today, I had another piece to frame and Barbara in the framing department was super nice and helped me to pick out a mat and frame. There were also other people available, in the framing department, in case they were busy. Prices are competitive and the service is outstanding. Michael's is getting my business from now on. read more
