They did not have my daughter's school cardigan color at the time that we went so they had us try on a different color cardigan "A+ brand" and we placed the order to pick up when it was in. At the time of pick-up, it was a completely different brand and extremely oversized. They told me to speak to Michael and he said "we only have one brand." SERIOUSLY???? come on man, look around. On a serious note, Michael, you should really look at your inventory. I bought another cardigan today and happened to try on the same brand that we originally ordered the previous time "A+ brand." You are wildly mistaken, it's unfortunate that the school no longer uses Dennis uniform because the quality is extremely poor. Summary: I would not recommend to buy things from this store unless it is in an emergency situation. Please be aware of negative signs as business operator. My circumstances: I purchased jumper for my daughter on 08/27/2024 at noon. The mexican lady at counter gave me a used item: importantly, she lied to me as new product. She told me that cost would be 45$. In addition, I asked how much for socks, and pine-green color shirt. She said socks were 4.99: and shirt was 22$. However, when i went to register to pay, another mexican lady charged me 46.99$ for jumper, 9.99$ for socks, 29.99$ for shirt. I quickly told the lady that i refused to buy socks and shirt. In addition, I asked the lady i may come to return or exchange the jumper too. She said 'fine. Keep the receipt.' In the same evening, I went back home, and a parent of my daughter's school sent me info saying that Kohl Store has sale going as 24.99$ for jumper. Therefore, I did not let my daughter use the jumper in order to return the item. I went back to store on 08/29/2024 at 10am. The same mexican lady at cash register I saw 2 days ago, quickly went to owner (or manager): and showed the jumper that I purchased. This owner or manager (Caucasian bald headed big built gentleman) right away told me that i could not return it because i have already washed and used the jumper. He brought out another jumper to show me the differences on tags . I was very hurt with his cold-comment for accusing me as a lier. Therefore, I pointed out the mexican lady who sold me the jumper and told him to ask the lady if the jumper was the same jumper she gave me 2 days ago. Then, this owner or manager told the lady at cash register to give me exchange. I told them that i wanted a refund. No exchange. Now, this owner or manager showed me a sign cryptically stated on statement saying exchange only. I told him that this was not what the lady at cash register and the lady at counter told me when they sold me. Most importantly, I got the jumper less than 2 days ago in the same condition that i was sold. The owner or manager insisted no refund. I decided to leave the store instead of practice claiming my customer right for their unethical sale technique to take my hard-earned money by using the vulnerability to spend on my daughter. I paid 51.68$ with tax for jumper That I could buy at Kohl Store for 27.45$ It is less than 25$ difference Yet, I did not appreciate their unethical technique to trick parents. Most importantly, i purchased it on Tuesday noon: and returning it on Thursday at 10am, in the same condition that i received in plastic bag: without using the item. I understand small business has more struggle, compare to big corporate store. However, there is always rule to the exception. They cannot simply sold used item with over-priced: then, told customer item has been used and washed. I would say 'Do not buy unless item is in the package, or you see associate open in front of you.' On side note, I am calling my chase bank to complain about this transaction, as well. Excellent customer service by Benjamin, Sonia and Luis. Michaels uniforms has been around forever. I shopped for my daughters schools and know my grandsons. It is back to school so you know its busy . But they handled business under pressure . Luis , Benjamin and Sonia each looked for items and were professional, courteous and respectful. I was in urgent need of a school skirt at start of the school year. I visited Michael's 3 times over two weeks. There was a TWO HOUR wait to get into the store every time. I ordered online from Land's End. I visited recently, there was no wait and the employees were nice. This place has been around for decades & it shows when you walk inside. I'm going to guess they're doing business the same way they always have, which could be fine & quaint, but not when there's a 2 hour wait for customers to enter the store. They're the only approved brick & mortar retailer to buy our school's uniforms, so they are a monopoly. But...we can also use Land's End online. Michael's School Uniforms needs to drastically adjust how they do business, especially at the start of the school year. And don't blame it on COVID or a hiring shortage. I saw moms with small kids wanting to make a simple transaction like exchanging or returning a shirt, being told to wait in the 2-hour line in the hot sun. Really? You couldn't be bothered to set up a separate line for returns or exchanges? When this local, iconic business goes under, don't blame it on Target, Amazon, etc. Place the full blame on a business that failed to: 1) adjust and adapt to the times, especially during the busy back to school season 2) put their customers first with convenient, great customer service. read more

On 8/12/2019, I came here to have the schools logo placed on 3 shirts I purchased elsewhere. Another parent did the same for 6 shirts on 8/10/2019. Of course, I was told it could not be done, by the older man who I believe is the owner. He refused to put the logos on my shirts because the school wouldn't allow it; then proceeded to ask who did the previous ones because he does them all. Based on his statement it's safe to say he did the logos, since according to him he does all of them. He also said it's a judgement call & still refused to place the logo on my shirts. Keep it consistent because he clearly put the logo on shirts purchased from the same store where I purchased mine. read more

It's school time again however this year is like NO OTHER! With that being said I honestly don't think schools will be reopening this year as scheduled due to the COVID pandemic we're facing, for the safety of our children and our school staff. I'm sure at some point though we will get a handle on this thing and schools will safely reopen, and this is why I'm here today! I came in to purchase my sons uniforms and was completely blown away by the top notch service I received. Everyone was helpful and welcoming from the owner to the employees. I didn't purchase as many things as I would if this was a regular school year, but I got just enough to beat the rush when the time comes. The store is well stocked and clean the staff all are wearing masks and practicing social distancing. They only sell school uniforms so sales right now are really low at the moment. I encourage you beat the rush and help them stay a float, stop by and pick up a few things that will be used when schools reopen, if you can. read more

Ordered my child's uniforms through a school set up uniform day. By the first day of school my child had still not received their uniform. When I called to inquire about when the items would arrive I was confronted with attitude and poor customer service and promised that the items would arrive 2 weeks ago seeing as they were special ordered and all items hadn't arrived together previously but were now in their possession and would be shipped. Gave them a week & still NO uniform. Contacted again about expected shipping date, lady cussed me out placed me on hold for 10 minutes came back on the phone and gave me same story as last week about items being special ordered and had just arrived. Called her out on her BS and told her she told me that same story last week so she needed to ship items or reimburse. Items have arrived now-a month later. Terrible customer service, lie about having items in stock. Must be chased down. In an era of transparency & customer service-this business is anything but transparent and customer service centric. If they hadn't lied about shipping and gave the same BS story-would have possibly gave a better rating. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at Michael's for uniforms as it is where my mom shopped for me and where my husband and I shop for our son. It is also sets the mood for getting ready and excited for school. Today, the experience was unpleasant. In fact, it was rude and offensive. Not only were the customers rushed and threatened to leave the store at 5:00, but they were told to leave the store in an unpleasant voice and aggressive tone which initiated anxiety in people as they scrambled to work with the consultants to find the correct uniforms and sizes for their children. Even as people were closing out their conversations and standing in line to pay, one of the managers (tall big guy) turned off the lights and one employee at the cash register said, "I can't see." Can you imagine spending your hard earned money and someone talking rude to you and turning off the lights? Yes, the store closed at 5:00 and it was about 5:05 p.m., but the consultants were having difficulties sometimes finding items or finding the correct sizes which is not their fault. That's just part of the rush of getting ready for school and having many customers at one time. Some parents even complained that 5:00 was too early due to their work schedules. SCHOOLS if you are reading this review, please identify another vendor who can service student and family needs. We want the total experience to be pleasant, especially after this COVID year, and rudeness does not support the goal of a great school year. If there are at least two vendors, it will empower parents to choose where to buy the uniforms. This was the worst experience ever! Parents -contact your schools and voice your concerns! Bought a an overpriced child's tie that was poor quality and unraveled after a week of wear. Five stars for really great customer service. This was my first uniform buying experience and I was shocked when I arrived before the store opened on a weekend day to find a huge number of people waiting. I think I was number 50-something. However, the line moved at a decent pace and the two men running the line were friendly and patient with customers - even those who were less than friendly themselves. When it was finally our turn, I headed inside only to be taken aside by the manager. He could see that I had a return, and asked me about it. I explained that my husband had gotten the wrong size for our child in just about everything - I had our child with us, and he took one look at her and agreed immediately that everything was too big. He pulled his floor manager over to take care of us, explained the issue and said he could handle it. The floor manger swapped sizes, measured her, took care of it all, and sent us on our way. No one asked for a receipt, we never went to the cashier, we didn't have to wait in line for our items to get the school logo - they just handled it. I was shocked by how nice they were about the whole thing - especially in this day and age; and incredibly grateful, which is why I needed to come write this review. Good customer service is rare these days and it didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. I saw the other reviews - and I get that it's chaotic in there, and yes the uniforms aren't the highest quality clothing, but it's back to school time and they are uniform clothes. read more

Never again my daughters father bought the wrong uniforms for her school she has eczema so I naturally was her new clothes because her skin is sensitive to new products. I called the day before to see if I could exchange for the correct uniforms and they said I can't because they were washed I explained that I did r want my money back I simply needed to exchange because we bought the wrong one the owner Michael said no that clothes still look new. O know he has clothes he has used for people to try on and he refused to exchange them for me I have never experienced such a shady and frugal individual. I had a bad experience here. I made a large purchase for my son's uniform - pants, shirts, jacket so on. After paying I waited at the register while they took all the shirts to the back to iron the school logos. I was then given one heavy bag and left. A few days later the night before first day of school I don't see a single shirt in the bag. I email the store and get no response. I went in person the next day. A man who identified himself as the manager said he responded to my email. First red flag because to this day I never got a reply. He probably wasn't expecting I'd show up. He said he doesn't see any shirts by the register. I explained they had taken it out back. He asked a worker if there were shirts back there. I explained it was different workers. He just didn't care and said they don't have it and disappeared. I paid another $97 worth of identical shirts. No splitting the repeat cost or nothing when I never left with the shirts from that store. I wish I could purchase from an alternate store who cares. If you have an option take your business elsewhere where they'll care about you and not lie or rip you off. read more

The ONLY thing I like from this place is their Tom Sawyer pants compared to other school pants. They've never ripped or have messed up after washing. Everything else I feel is cheap quality and the guy at the desk that swears he knows your size better than you do, is so annoying!!! I constantly hear people tell him that it's "too big" and he's like "oh no! As a matter of fact I think you need to go one size bigger!" Regardless of them telling him they feel they're already swimming in it!!! He's rude and very pushy! I like to walk in, go directly to one of the girls, get the pants, and be on my way as fast as I can!!!! I avoid him at all costs! OK, initially I didn't want to give this place any stars. This time around I was debating if I should give it 3 or 4 stars, but I'll say 3.5 stars. My tune has changed about this uniform shop. The uniforms have stood up to endless amount of dirt and washing. The uniforms are still in great condition and the fabric color has not faded one bit.
