I went to Hilda's Uniform Shop on a Saturday to buy sweaters, pants, and tops for my son. I also paid extra to have his school logo and name embroidered on the sweaters. They told me the sweaters would be ready by Wednesday, and my receipt clearly stated that. On Wednesday, I took time off work to pick them up. When I arrived, the sales associate couldn't find my order and accused me of coming on the wrong day--despite my receipt saying otherwise. No one apologized for the mistake. They started embroidering the sweaters while I was there, so I decided to wait since I had already made the trip. When they were done, I noticed immediately that the first letter of my son's last name was lowercase instead of uppercase. I brought it up, but the associate just shrugged and said, "That's how the machine did it," with no apology or offer to fix it. I asked for a refund or discount, and was told "no" without hesitation. I left feeling upset, but came back a few minutes later to speak with a manager. Another employee was slightly more helpful and offered to fix it--but the embroidery machine was broken, so I'd have to come back again. I asked again for a refund or discount for the inconvenience of now having to make a third trip, and they refused again. Needed last minute uniforms for my grandson that was due to start school the day after Labor Day. Due to most schools starting g before hand most retailers was out of stock. His school also sent us to this location just because they are known to have the items needed based off school districts just going back to school. They are a small business I believe however the uniforms are very pricy. I bought 2 items which cost me 36 bucks. Yes I know if your looking for quality yes use them but if your looking for quantity I suggest not to use them. read more

After a 2 hour drive, we went in to Hilda's today to get uniforms and although it was busy, I was greeted promptly and with a smile. I was taken to an area with my kid's school colors and such and the lady who helped us immediately picked a skirt and my daughter tried it on- Fit perfectly. They know their stuff. This is a popular location in Compton to purchase uniforms. They have a big variety of styles and sizes. They even have the layaway option which is very helpful. The prices are average. Street parking only, so parking can get a little tricky. The staff is very nice and helpful. read more

First time there, you have to street park or park on the side, yes parking is an issue. For safety reasons some has to buzz you in. Once in someone immediately ask me if I needed help an of course I did, had a deer in the headlight stare on my face ( she didn't introduce herself) so can't give her props. Very helpful helped me find what I needed, very knowledgeable about why I needed, uniforms not too expensive I was expecting worse. Check the websites before you buy maybe able to find it a little cheaper. Overall a good experience. They don't sell uniform shoes anymore. read more

This place is terrible. Order 2 years in a row and both orders were wrong. The first order was for 2 girls pants and they sent 2 boys pants. We called and said it wasn't there fault so we had to pay to ship them back. We decided to bite the bullet and ordered 2 more pants and keep the boys pant. This year we ordered one pans and one dress. Suprise!!! We get 2 pants. We call in again and the same story. It's not there fault so we have to pay to ship back and swap out. I asked to speak to the owner and I can't because there gone for 3 weeks. No customer service at all. Worst part is you can tell they are totally uninterested in resolving the issue. I had heard that this was the place to go to get reasonably priced school uniforms, but came here twice with no luck. The first time we were looking for a female's blue collared shirt. The second time for a shirt from a middle school in the area. Both times the lady did not offer to accomodate or work with us, (which I had heard previously that you could order stuff that was not in the store.) She did not offer any suggestions of other places to look, and she seemed generally uninterested in us, even though we were the only ones in the shop. I like the variety of school uniforms Hilda's carries. My kids are in private school and Hilda's is one of the only uniforms I know that carries every type of uniform. They make the uniforms in their store. They also do logos and names on your childs uniform. I feel like their customer service sucks! And their store is really old looking. Hilda's Uniforms is a huge werehouse like store with all your uniform needs. They have a huge selection of uniforms, shoes, socks, and more. The women that helped us were really nice and helpful. The day we went in was the Saturday before the first day of school. It was PACKED! The dressing rooms had long waits but the staff assisted in finding other areas of the store that could be makeshift dressing rooms to speed up your shopping experience. The prices are reasonable. Terrible customer service. The first time I went to this place they didn't even open the door for me. It was during store hours, they were standing there, I knocked, and they still didn't buzz me in. I went back a different time to get a quote on putting logos on uniform shirts. I thought it was a fair price so I came back a week later with my shirts. Then they charged me 60% more than what they'd originally told me. Unfortunately I didn't get the quote in writing. But, they could've at least apologized for the mix up. All she said was the other girl didn't know what she was doing, and pretty much just blew me off; no apology. I wouldn't mind paying the higher price, but not at an establishment that doesn't value their customers. Avoid this place if you can. read more
