I really enjoyed my visit to Michael's today. I don't usually come to this store but happened to be in the area. The store is very neat and nicely organized. I am a crocheter so I was really impressed by the variety of yarn they have now that Joann's closed. Everyone was super friendly. Was able to shop without being interrupted. I found some really good after Christmas sales. They discounted the holiday items 70%. Not bad! read more

I've been coming to this Michael's location for a couple of years now. This is your run of the mill store however it does feel smaller than the other stores in San Antonio. Due to this, there's often times where I have to order from a different store. I've used the other ahead option a few times which has been great! I like this Michaels cuz it's newer than the rest in the area. I was looking for a wooden cree att re that I found online and at first the dumb website was giving me a store in Houston (staring into space with dismay). After correcting the zip to my own, it showed stores in my area that had it, and were out of stock. I went there after work, no traffic, ample parking. The store was neat and organized. I wasn't offered any help but I was also there less than 2 minutes shopping for my crate. The line did suck. 1 clerk and 5th person in line. So I probably spent more time in line than I did in the store but the price rung up correctly and the clerk was nice and polite so I left happy. I also got a receipt printed with discounts on a future purchase. Tip: not all products are created equal. I looked at ALL the wooden crates and some had some imperfections. Look at each to ensure it doesn't have any flaws. This is true of any smart product purchase. read more

Worst experience ive ever had at Michaels was today. Charlene the manager needs a new position that doesn't involve dealing w/customers. We shop at Michaels a lot for our business & as an organization very involved in charity work. This month alone we've spent over $1000 at this store alone! Yesterday i bought some Christmas items & ribbon for the last of the crafts we are making for charity & as we were checking out, the very nice cashier reminded me about the Buy2Get3 ribbon sale. I mentioned to her i wasnt sure what colors i needed more of & she told me not to worry i can always just exchange it w/o a problem so i went to grab more for the BOGO sale. Today i went in bc i in fact did need more of one color & not the other so i needed to exchange 2 rolls for 2 other rolls. All same price. Easy right? Well nope it was a nightmare to say the least! The cashier was nice she did try to help but she wasnt able to code in the exchange so she had to do a return which would cause me to pay more at $12.99 each ribbon instead of at the even exchange face value of $5.99 shown on the receipt for each ribbon i had initially purchased yesterday, so she called for her manager. I told her no problem i didn't mind waiting. Another girl came a few mins later, also nice, but she apparently wasnt the manager. She tried to help but then realized they did in fact need the manager to override it. They seemed reluctant to call for the manager again & mentioned they tried paging her already. Several minutes later the manager, CHARLENE, finally came around the counter very noticeably upset that she had to come from the back. I think she said to another worker that she was eating or something like that. Not sure exactly. She walked up with thee worst attitude & asked "whats the issue?" as i explained i just needed to exchange 2 rolls of ribbon for 2 different ones. She immediately cut me off and said "We Dont Do That". I asked her why not & she said, "Bc we just dont mam!". I explained im not getting anything more or less expensive i just need to exchange ribbon colors so its not fair id have to pay out of pocket more instead of just exchanging evenly. They are all the same price. She got so loud yelling at me that "thats just how it is" and that its "unfortunate for me" but she cant do anything. I asked her to please lower her voice & let me speak & she just got even louder cutting me off every time i spoke. She kept saying there was no other solution. At this point i told her fine ill just grab 3 more to do the Buy2Get3 deal AGAIN & just return the 3 i dont need, basically waisting everyones time. She said "you do what you have to do i dont care" so i quickly told her she was very rude & thee worst employee ive encountered. She just laughed. The cashier saw how upset i was & told Charlene quietly she thought she would just do an override & just discount them so i can get the even exchange like the other manager does instead of making me do an entire purchase & return. Charlene hushed her & told her to just ring up the transaction. After doing the purchase of 5, i went out to my car to calm myself bc i have a disability w/my heart & started to feel unwell. I finally went back in to the store to get back in line & return the 3 ribbons i didnt need. It went smoothly with the cashier. As i passed by the manager on an isle i told her she had a horrible attitude even with her employees & that you do not treat people like that & that I would report her to corporate. She said she did not care, that its just a job anyway & screamed at me to get out her store. I told her to have the day she deserved & walked out. I will never return to this store again. Ive never felt so humiliated in my entire life. It was so bad it made me feel very sick. She offered no resolution, i had to figure out a resolution myself. With charity projects every penny counts for us. Michaels needs to find a new manager quickly. This is a new store in this area & already has a bad reputation within the neighborhoods here that i personally hadn't experienced until today. I also want to point out that in the past they do not honor the prices on the floor. I have always let it go and just paid what they say, but with this situation i will definitely be contacting corporate and the BBB. read more

I wish I could leave a negative star review but this will have to do. So we purchased yard signs for 2021 graduation and it's supposed to come with 30 metal stakes for the yard sign lettering, Michael's doesn't check returns for all the items and just replaces returns having faith in a customer to return everything and puts it back on the floor for resale. So we got the lettering with no stakes for letters themselves. This is the first and last time I order online for curbside having faith in minimum wage workers to make sure everything belonging in the package is in the package. read more

The first time I went to this Michael's it was amazing. Everything was done professionally to frame my 20x24x1 family photo. Molly was amazing. This time it wasn't so great. They did not install the kit on the back of my photo, so when we got home to put it up, my hubs had to hunt for screws in order to put it up. I called to ask about this and the lady said oh well we are training people to frame. Ok smart thing to do is train them right. Managers and supervisors need to over see their work before giving to customer. I pay to much for these photos. read more

Super misleading sale signs I believe this is the typical bait and switch I will never come back to this place for crafts !

If you shop here you better hope & pray you never need their customer service. Frustrating and beyond infuriating. They do less than the bare minimum to assist a customer. Do not I repeat to do not buy Xmas tree or anything over $20 they DO NOT stand behind the products they sell and their vendors provide false info to get you off the phone. This Michael's at Dove Creek is AMAZING! Since the first day they opened. Anytime I have gone I walk through the doors and hear Welcome to Michael's. As I walk through the store employees have asked if I needed any help. Even if they are busy with other stuff. This place is Clean, organized and the staff is on point. I feel bad for those that may have had a bad experience there hoping it was just an very off day but please don't write them off just yet. Give them a chance. read more

I understand we are all going through a lot during this pandemic but I don't think that makes an excuse to make anybody feel horrible or extremely uncomfortable during a visit. I created a curbside order for a floss thread and bath bomb molds I made an honest mistake in going early for my pickup thinking the confirmation I received a couple hours from the order was a ready pick up notification. I headed over to the location to pick up my order, one woman came up to my window asking the name on the order. I gave her my name and said it would be right out. A couple minutes went on by and another woman who I assumed was the manager came up to me saying calling out "Gomez" as I told her that wasn't my last name she then replied with "same thing" I said no she then stated I was too early for my pick up and I am holding up the line, making another employee force through my order. She then said she knows this isn't the first time I've done that and I then replied with it's impossible because my home store is Alamo ranch and had never been to that location and was also the first time I used curbside. She left to get my order not even saying anything just aggressive giving me the bag. I would not have minded if I had to go a later date to pick up order I ACCIDENTALLY misread an email and showed up early. I don't feel any obligation to step into that location. I don't think that's a way to treat customers being we all who work in retail are struggling with this covid pandemic. I don't think my name should've been something to berate me about or MISTAKING ME FOR ANOTHER PERSON. Dorian here is amazing helped me with all my needs go to her for and advice. No matter how many kids are in the class she is able to help everyone and make the kids happy. Definitely needs a pay raise, can imagine dealing with all the kids at once. read more
