I will never shop at any Michael's ever again thanks to the actions of this location, and the management at the KC district level. This is an incredibly long story that goes back many months to June. I will summarize the best I can. I had a very important package being sent to me via UPS. This package was signature and ID required. I missed the UPS person by minutes as they came outside of the window shown in the UPS app. Instead of trying to deliver it again the next day, UPS took it to the closest "UPS Access Point" which is this Michael's. A thief beat me to Michael's to retrieve my package, and the on duty manager released the package valued at nearly $1000 to a random stranger who was in no way authorized to pick it up. When I went to pick it up, I was told I already picked it up. I involved the OPPD, and the store admitted they released an ID and signature required package to some random person without even checking with me to see if it was okay. The on duty manager and the store manager admitted fault and that they did not follow UPS procedures. I was told by the store manager that there would be a swift resolution to this and I was told to send my invoice for the package to the store manager's email. I was told this was a "learning experience", and that their staff had learned a valuable lesson about following UPS policies and procedures more carefully. I'm glad I could provide such a valuable lesson at my own time and expense. Weeks turned into months and there was no resolution. The manager stopped returning my phone calls or responding to my emails. I was told a district manager was going to be contacting me, and it never happened. I haven't heard anything from Michael's in many months at this point. The person who stole my package was caught by OPPD, but that was a dead end - financially anyway. The company I bought it from pointed the finger at UPS, and UPS pointed the finger at Michael's. Although Michael's accepted responsibility, I never got any compensation from them. In the end, I worked with my credit card company to charge back the amount and was able to provide the police report and other information from the OPPD to prove I never got the package and I did get my money back that way. I will never shop here again, and I strongly caution you against using the UPS Access Point here as well. They will just give your package to anyone who asks for it. read more

Full disclosure I'm not a frequent shopper at craft stores and I tend to visit when I have something very specific in mind that I need to pick up. On this occasion, I was on the hunt for some fake foliage for centerpieces at an upcoming party. When I walked in, it was as if nothing had changed in the five years or so since I'd last visited. It had that same craft store smell, the same layout, and much to my delight the same outrageous sales happening all over the store. I was able to snag a ton of fall themed foliage at quite the steal of a price, which was a welcome surprise. I never like how they try to sell you on a credit card a checkout but that's somewhat par for the course at big box stores these days. At any rate, I was in and out pretty fast and would return next time I need something like this in the future. read more

Came in here after checking online stock. When I arrived it was hard to find any sales associates to help. Once I found one, I asked where I could find the product I was looking for and she was a tad rude and dismissive. Turns out they did not have the products but she didn't even offer to find a substitution or order them online. I'm disappointed at the customer service and will just order the items online. read more

During my visit, I really only needed a couple of specific items. I was able to find what I needed immediately and decided to check out the clearance section. Well, that didn't work out because they hd the section blocked with one of those huge metal staircase things. No one was using it...you'd think they could park it somewhere out of the way. I went to pay and the one item I went to get rang up as the wrong price. The cashier refused to let me show her where I got it to show her the price, so I had her remove it from my purchase. So, after all of that, I left with one item that wasn't even what I went to buy and ended up going to Joann to get the item I left behind. read more

This Michael's is pretty great except for the lack of actual employees. They always seem understaffed. The staff they have are great though. Always friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of items in general. This location also has classes which is cool though I haven't taken any myself. read more

Do yourself a favor and visit the website before visiting to get your weekly coupons. 40% sales are pretty common, so I'll visit every few weeks so I always get what I need on sale. Took a great Wilton Cake Decorating Class here. Classroom size was good and the instructor was knowledgeable and friendly. I think the classes are a great bargain, especially when they run specials. I wish I could point to something that makes this location stand out above other Michael's, but it's a true chain and they've got the pattern down. read more

I am so in love with the order online and pick up in store for free! It saves me so much time. I get online order exactly what I need and it's ready to go when they email me. And this new store is so nice! The store is nice a new and fresh. Totally stocked and great employees. Let's hope they stay that way. I'm willing to drive a few extra miles to this location just for those reasons. And now that I just got my new Cricut Air 2 I'm sure I'll be ordering many more things for pick up. I always thought one of the best retail jobs for a creative person (if they absolutely had to work retail) would be an arts & crafts store. To be surrounded by creative materials and shoppers, in my mind, would lessen the blow of being a "struggling" artist stuck in a crappy retail job. Just my theory. Apparently, any work with human beings for a "struggling" artist is torture on their soul. Good luck finding a friendly or helpful worker at Michael's. I was really put off when two workers decided they HAD to move the display I was looking at...immediately. Never mind there were plenty of other things a mess in the store that could have been attended to first. The two workers crowded me and gave me little explanation before chasing me away from the display. I had spent an hour shopping, and if I hadn't really needed the items I picked up, I would have left my basket. Very rude. Very awkward. I give this store 3 out of 10 glitter sticks for customer service and the store being a mess. read more

Custom framing service, very poor, unprofessional. I had an expensive poster matted and framed. Cost was over$400. Specifically asked if they could do museum quality of matting and framing- meaning that no adhesive is in contact with the Art work and all material is archive quality, acid free material. The department manager assured me they know how to handle the art work valued at $900. The store contacted me when complete, went that day to pick-up, to find my art work torn in two! The store only apologized but offered no compensation, no discount to the matting or framing, nothing for the destroyed art. Brought the art to a restorer, who found they further damaged the Art by glueing it to the mat. The store has no idea how to do quality framing. Do not use the custom framing, your better off buying a stock frame and doing it yourself, better yet take it to a quality custom framer, one who's business is framing not art and craft stuff read more

Michael's is pretty good for home decor & paper crafts, which makes up for their skimpy yarn selection. I bought some wreath-making supplies there during the holiday season just past, and created a couple of cute things. Got some cheap poster frames there that look like a million bucks, too. They have some pretty generous post-season markdowns for whatever holiday has just passed. The store always seems to be messy, though, and they rarely have enough registers open. Parking is generous, but the lot's so torn up that you're liable to turn an ankle walking across it. read more

I took a poster to them in their custom frame part of the store. They salesperson was helpful (I didn't know anything about framing). I got a call it was done before the estimated date. I came to pick it up and they had not put glass on it...because apparently I hadn't paid for it in the first place, so it wasn't on the order. I thought I had, since I chose which glass to have, and the cost was high, but the itemized receipt showed I didn't. Luckily they didn't charge me for the glass, but I did end up waiting around about a half hour while I waited for the glass to be put on. Also, my receipt came with a 40% off coupon, but it had already expired by the time I picked up my art. In general the floors and crevices were dirty and dusty as well. read more
