Stopped in looking for tiny pumpkins. Small, older store. They did seem to have a little bit of everything you'd expect to find at a Michaels, just not a large selection. They did have a whole row dedicated to stickers... yay! There was only one check stand open...seems to be a craft store thing, but the girl was super upbeat and friendly. If you find an ad in the Sunday paper, it will have a coupon for you. read more

I always love coming here as they offer something for everyone. I used to avoid this place because I am not artistically inclined but as time passes I realize that doesn't matter. It's very easy to get lost in here as far perusing each every shelf but so long as you realize that you will be leaving with more than you intended to purchase, you'll be fine. Always be sure to watch their specials because they offer some of the best deals around and often times they will beat Wal-Mart and Amazons prices for the same or similar items. read more

I love coming to this Michael's. They are always so helpful when I have no idea where an item would be let alone what it's called. They never make me feel bad for price matching and using my coupons lol. (I don't go overboard either). The store is always well stocked and I've even used the order online pick up in store and it great for holiday time and busy sale days. My kids love the craft Saturday events they do. In all reality this place is decent for Merced, but in the real world this place sucks. Thank god I am only crafty that time of the month cause if I was a die hard I would go out of town to avoid this place. Staff is rude. Yarn prices are the best in town, but that's not saying much. On December 24, 2021, I purchased a Visa Giftcard for $200 in Michael's Crafts in Merced , CA. After paying at the register, the cashier handed me the gift card, and I immediately put into the mail for my daughter's Christmas gift. On Wednesday December 29, 2021, my daughter received the gift card, and went on line to verify the amount When she punched in the Visa Gift Card number, the online reply was that the balance was 0 dollars, and the card had not been activated. Interestingly. I had a receipt from Michaels with a transaction validation, cashier verification, and a small receipt verifying that my gift card had beem activated. However, the giftcard my daughter received and the activated gift card on the Michael's receipt were different numbers. I immediately contacted the store, and took in my cash register receipt. They attempted to make this issue a problem to which I somehow contributed. They asserted that I took many or more than one card up to the register; they asserted that I had mulitple gift cards in my home, and I simply mailed toe wrong one to my daughter; needless to say, I am not wealthy, and only one person in my family was to receive a Visa gift card with such a large amount. My retail background makes me think that the cashier was attempting a theft: provide the customer with a blank card, and keep the card that was actdivated with the money, Sadly, the retail establishment attemptd to make this situation about me, the victim. In the interim, a company called Blackhawk is the third oarty distributor of the gift card. Each entity involved: Michaels, Visa, and Blackhawk are each pointing at one another about who is responsible for simply reissuing a replacement gift card for me. I am not a thief, and obvioulsy will not go out and try to use the original gift card that was validated and activated fdor my $200! Bklackhawk has stopped paymenet on that "missing" gift card. The one my daughter received was never activated. Yet, here, on January 5, 2022, I have yet to receive a refund or a new card. My $200 is just gone, and I did nothing ot make this happen. read more

This review is specifically for the framing desk. I had never been to any Michael's in my life. I just needed to frame my university diplomas and this place came up online. The service I got was outstanding. I am very impressed. There's a guy in the framing desk named Julio. He took the time to go through all the different framing options with me: different materials, arrangements, color combinations, etc. He gave me information about all the different price ranges and helped me find the best option. The final result was amazing: the diplomas look beautiful and will definitely be the fanciest items in my office. Thumbs up to Julio. That guy is a gentleman and a scholar. read more

Julio helped me get an assortment of items framed after helping me with a few custom pieces. I would have never figured out my best options much less get them into the frames without his help. I have bought beading supplies here for a decade, then out of the blue the display for my favorite brand of beads, and all the beads, were gone. I asked management why and they had no idea. I beadweave, to do so I need either Toho's or Delica beads, Michael's was the ONLY store within 40 miles that sold them, I was heartbroken. Fast forward to yesterday and mysteriously THE BEADS ARE BACK! I am so happy! If they'd stock Delicas I might faint out of shock and happiness but I'll take what I can get read more

I usually go to Michaels during the Halloween season to get a new piece from the Lemax Spookytown collection. I bought a very expensive piece and was ready to flip my lid when I couldn't find the provided adapter. Called and was ready to yell at someone but the manager, Julia, was so sweet and took the time to look through the collection and look through the whole package to find out where this adapter was, turns out it was in a hidden door in the back of the Styrofoam. I am very thankful that she took the time for my call and to help me find this hidden adapter. It must have been a ten minute phone call. Thank you so much, Julia! read more

Needed a medium-large photograph framed and Rachel and Cathy were outstanding in the framing department. Rachel is the "stylist" and she knows her color schemes, designs, and has vision to help you select what is the attracting. Cathy was quick to greet me and get me started. Both very attentive and spent as much time as needed until I made the decision. I've used Michael's before for framing and will continue to do so. read more

My mom & I ran in 5 minutes before the store was closing and we were in a hurry to find a bookshelf for our boss. Martin, an associate, went above and beyond the last 5 minutes the store was open to help us find exactly what our boss requested. Although he had to go back and forth to the back to get a specific colored shelf, he did it with no hesitation and grace. If you wasn't helpful enough she also offered to take it to a vehicle after we purchased it. I love customer service especially when it's lacking everywhere else. As of 11/21/2011 Michaels manager is a unfriendly, older woman. There is a lady that works there named Annie, who helped me. Of the 7 years that I've been here in Merced and shopping at Michael's she has provided the best customer service. I went to Michaels on Sunday at 4pm and whatever lady running that store...oh jeez. So they left up some old sale signs, and the girl at the cash registered honored it but the manager or old unfriendly lady was just rude about it. read more

I have gone to this store for several years, but have never found the staff to be helpful or even polite. I recently had some framing done and they prices are much more expensive than other options in the area. I am now using Hobby Lobby and the updated Joanne's in Merced for all crafting, framing needs. read more
