Michaels is a nationwide arts and craft supply store. This store is in an unassuming - aside from the traffic on Slide Road - plaza. We came here in mid-September (2025) for supplies for my daughter's science project. Aside from one staff member who greeted us and later asked "Are y'all ready to check out?", we weren't asked if we needed assistance let alone acknowledged by the other employees. That lone employee, however, acted like she was going to check us out then led us to a self-checkout. Even my daughters noted this. Lol. The self-checkout screen & scanner was not particularly easy to use... it was dreadfully slow that morning. Fun Halloween decor on display. Nothing to out of place for this Michael's. Had the Halloween decor out, and without a specific reason in the store, just browsed around. Always love their decor options and crafts. The Halloween decor was fun and the miniature scenes were my favorite. The possibilities of how to create decor with the flowers/vase/pictures are endless. We did ask about a DIY frame build which was only available online. The team members were pleasant and helpful. Loved this flume tree and the cost of $80 was above my price range soooo, will be looking to see if there is a DIY option. read more

This location is smaller than what I am accustom to in a Michaels, however it has a decent selection of the basics as well as holiday decor. Lots of parking, easy to find, staff is always helpful and the lighting is good. read more

Big kudos to MICHAEL in the Framing Dept. at your store. We had a large, heavy framed picture, acquired 25-30 years ago, that fell off the wall because the wire broke. I brought it in, and Michael installed new hanging wire of a heavier grade, with a protective coating on it. When he saw the Michaels sticker on the back of our item, he smiled and said, "No charge... that ither Michaels should have done a better job!" Both the associates that helped me were awesome!!! I went in the store looking for the right sized picture frames, floral stuff and some other items so I could make my mothers Christmas gift. Michaels, seems to appear to have e v e r y t h i n g. I went in on a sunday because the other craft store in town was closed, and picked up some last minute supplies to make a flower hair clip for a dios de los muertos costume. The associate that helped direct me to where specific items were located was extremely nice and helpful, despite how busy it was right before Halloween. *Pro tip: The have an aisle with mirrors so if you need to see how something (for example color matching a flower garland to your face/ is this flower too big for my head) will look...you can go there and check yo'self out in the mirrors. The line was long since it was a busy day but the cashiers are efficient and the line moved fast. They gave me a 15% off coupon on the receipt. Michaels is a stalwart has outlasted some other businesses in that plaza (circuit city I'm looking at you); Michaels will satisfy all your craft needs. read more

Lots and lots of stuff! We love looking around and being inspired by what we find. Some prices are higher, but the sales even it out somewhat. They offer classes and events that really sound fun from what they said. Staff was ok, except for the lovely morning meeting of about 5 or 6 employees out smoking close to the entrance. It was pretty crummy to see them scatter when customers were walking in, then getting the added joy of walking through the lingering odor of cigarette smoke into the store. read more

A place for the teacher and the art fiend: Location Location Location: This Michaels is located on the South Loop and Slide in one of our most popular shopping centers. Its fairly easy to find and its big competitor is just across the street but this location has been around for years. So don't worry about trying to shop around. The Store: They have always been up to date on their seasonal goods which has been a help to my mother that shops here on a regular basis. As for myself I have found that they have been a big help when trying to find supplies for teaching or school in general. They have started to have classes with local artisans that has helped to show off the talents of our local artists. Overall: I think this is a great location for any store and would encourage everyone to start their art search here before going on to larger pastures, you might just find what you need in this more handy location. read more

How to get a photo matted, in six easy steps: 1. Take photo in. Have dimensions ready (18x24 overall size, 12x18 opening). 2. Return to pick up work. 3. Discover it's been matted to wrong size (16x20, so they didn't even get ONE dimension right). Leave to be fixed with promise that it would be done "tomorrow." 4. Two days later, go to pick it up. It hasn't been fixed yet, but the employee tells he'll do it right then. 5. Go back to pick it up. Another employee brings it out, and there's a gray smudge on the white matt. Leave it, once again, with the promise that it will be done "tomorrow." 6. Return the next day and it's finally ready. Yes. SIX steps for what ought to have been a two-step process. I have received nothing but great service here! The staff is always friendly. I can always find what I need and great deals. The staff doesn't seem to be bothered when you ask questions nor make you feel bad for having them. One thing I wish, would be for a larger store. They have a ton of items for sale and can feel cluttered at times. Other than that, I would come here for all my crafting needs on a budget. I can't say enough good about this store! Great service, polite, friendly, helpful. Don't ever move, just take over that empty store on the north corner and stock more goodies! I am handicapped, and nearly every time, if I ask where something is, they go get it to bring to me! Framing dept does great work also, very patient while I make up my mind just what frame and mats I want. Love shopping at Michaels for my crafts, and my granddaughter's crafts. Even if I hadn't thought of an idea, Michaels has ideas that helps me with projects. The manager, Keith, is very professional and is always willing to help the customer. The framing department has done several pieces for me, and Mike is meticulous about everything being precise! The other employees that work there are nice and will take the customer to the product, rather than just pointing and telling them which aisle the product might be placed. read more

I was very disappointed in my experience here. The store was not very well organized, aisles clogged with items, help not to be seen. It was a busy day, but the checkout process was slower than I would expect. I'm usually pretty pleased with Michael's, in general but this store has a ways to go to get up to standards. read more
