After hunting for a very particular color-changing satiny-fabric that changes color between blues,…read morereds, and purples to match a fabric scrap I brought with me to 10+ different fabric stores, I finally found the closest thing at Fabrics Garden! There were 6 yards, and even though I originally needed just about 3 yards, they said they were willing to sell off all the yardages to me at a discount to take it off their hands, because it would be hard for them to sell any remaining yardages. We haggled, and they discounted the price from $25/yd to $22/yd for all 6 yards. Was happy with the purchase of the beautiful fabric. When I took it back, even the puppy wanted to snuggle with the fabric! I'm really happy that I found this here at Fabric Garden, and am very thankful for the helpful staff with helping me find it.

I'm not sure why everyone seems to dislike this place so much…read more I ended up here because it's one of the few fabric stores in the area that's open on Sundays- a plus when you are just a hobbyist like me and only sew on the weekends. Fabrics Garden is large and has one of the biggest selections I've seen. Unlike a lot of other shops, it's quite open and well-lit, so you don't have to grope your way through dark aisles and can actually see what you're looking at. The fabrics are organized fairly logically and I was able to find what I needed quickly. (I'm sure the employees would have helped me, too, but I like to peruse myself and they did not hover too much.) I got some very decent silk for $15/yd, so I think the prices here are quite fair. The gentleman who cut the fabric for me (likely the owner) was helpful and also pulled down some other stuff for me to take reference photos of for later. Will return.

As with other locations, fewer sterling silver collections were displayed in favor of the higher end jewelry. On the ground floor are two bright lifelike walls depicting the city's famous buildings, with gorgeous floral bouquets accenting the display cases. Every floor has something unique to view. You can appreciate the stunning beauty and craftsmanship of the items displayed like a museum piece. You can get a different perspective of the stacked Louis Vuitton cases from an upper floor. The houseware/tea room/children's floor is beautiful, with many staged tables for your special occasion. I hear how hard it is to get a tea room reservation, but on this summer weekend afternoon, it was almost empty. Dine in only. I couldn't get an iced drink to go. I love how there are some designs exclusive to this flagship location. I kinda regret not buying the Please Return to Tiffany themed ceramic cups. A very worthwhile experience when shopping on Fifth Avenue.

Two guys mostly making sure you pay and don't take, but they're kind of rude when you ask a question about something. They answer in a tone like you should have known. I have purchased a garment once but never really wore it. The stitching is misleading and on the hanger it lays nicely but on a person it's tight in the underarm and balloons out in the front. If you don't care about that, then go for it. The earrings are cheap and made in third world countries. Most of the backings are bent out of shape. There are also signs posted on the walls that you cannot try them on. So, I recommend holding it up to about where it would sit on your ear and look in the mirror to see if you like it enough to drop some $. The bracelets and necklaces are cheap as well. They have scarves too, but I recommend buying a scarf from one of the street vendors on 37th Ave near 74th Street. Better quality and price. The other thing to note is that this shop is inside of the subway station and if you want to go just there and nowhere else you have to pay the Subway fare just to go shopping, whereas other shops above ground are free to get to. And lastly everything is not returnable and some things are not exchangeable. Happy shops!
