    2 piece fish & chips
    Tracy F.

No frills fish & chips. Cheap prices but delicious fish. Total hole in the wall. I was craving fish & chips on a cold day while I was in HB. Needed to go to Grocery Outlet and this place was next door. Only 2 tables inside. Greeted by a cute little Asian man who quickly took our order. Ordered the 2 fish plate with chips. Sodas are in a can so I stuck with water. Ready in 15 minutes. It came out piping hot. Not too many fries but fish was healthy portion. Extra charge for tartar sauce but you have to have it! January 2024 price for 2 piece fish & chips with tartar sauce was $7! Give it a try!! Oh, and they also have Chinese food!

Great deals to be had in this fish and chips establishment! Owner is very friendly, attentive and eager to please. Great to-go or partake inside the small cafe style space.

People are pretty hard on this place. The food was good, but yes, sauces are extra and it can be difficult to communicate. But I liked it.

Only note of dissatisfaction is not be seated on a hot day at the southwest corner table. Thought it was premium spot, but ended up in center of magnifying glass. Next time, table away from windows. Folks always talk about how there are certain types of restaurants they avoid. Mostly it's because…read more they don't like the taste of the cuisine. Or maybe they like the cuisine, but for health reasons they've been told to avoid eating it. I know for me I just haven't come around to a lot of Asian cuisines that are focused on high vegetable and low protein content. But to this day Toby and I have never shared a seafood boil together. She has a germaphobe reaction to eating food with her hands and there's no easy way to knife-and-fork stuff like shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster. She's offered to get something else like fish n' chips or a plain steak or something, while I get myself a boil. However, one of the joys of boils is digging into a mound of Cajun-flavored seafood together as a group effort. A wondrous temple to the art like Roux Seafood Kitchen would be wasted on her. I couldn't get enough of their shrimp and crawfish. They were both plump, flavorful, and disassembled easy in my hands. At a lb. each, I was more than stuffed at meal's end. I think the only thing that could've made it better is if I had ordered a lobster tail in there. That would've been my ideal order. The service was great here for my party. The drinks were refilled quickly, the food was brought out in an efficient manner, and even the order taking was controlled in what kind of have been haphazard conditions. I liked the ambiance too. The dining room was a spacious and accommodating. The music was low. And the crowds were busy but not super full, which is where I like it. Nobody was on top of each other at neighboring tables and the noise level wasn't drowning. All in all, I think this is the perfect example of a seafood boil joint. The only thing that could've made it better is if my oldest eating buddy (and ex) could've miraculously gotten over her condition and joined me. That's the dream.

The Brussels sprouts were not as crispy as they could be but flavorful. The shrimp tempura turned out to be sushi not real tempura. The lobster grilled is always so good bc it's grilled really grilled not faked in the oven. For $5 more you get garlic noodles so yummy bc they used real butter not margarine. At the entrance they had a beautiful Mount Fuji display as it turned out they had a new owner. I love this place n the only reason I don't come here more often is bc it's like an igloo here n I hate wearing a jacket while I'm eating . They are waiting for a liquor license so my husband was bent out of shape not having his sake w dinner, I dont drink but I'm having a problem w coke not coming out if a can , it was flat no gas. That said I'd still rate this 5 stars bc price is reasonable n the lobster was so succulent not. chewy like in most restaurants. I'll be baaaack!

They do this near the end of the month on Mondays. Unfortunately, this is their 3rd to last event as they're going to be doing some restructuring. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Drinks were flowing and the sashimi was non-stop. Nigiri and handrolls were also delicious and I ate until I was close to puking. It was super cool to be able to cut into the fresh fish from Mexico. It's definitely tougher than it looks. I always thought it would be easy to cut like butter, but definitely takes a lot of strength and skill. There were other tasty tuna dishes like the miso soup, salad and crispy tuna steak. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see Chef Yamasaki cut the fish in the front row seats. It was cool to taste the varying levels of fatness of the fish. The super chutoro was practically butter. They also offered tuna to go at $50/lb. Definitely worth it. The venue is their regular restaurant but with more tables in the middle. A little loud but definitely a fun time. There were 3 birthdays too! Along with that, our table also ordered: the quail with sticky rice ($20.99), salted fish and shrimp fried rice ($24.99), shaken beef with garlic noodles ($22.99), bok choy with sautéed garlic ($12.99), a hot tea ($4.00), Coca-Cola ($5.50), a mojito ($15.00), and a margarita ($15.00). With tax ($17.71), our ticket was $209.16 before gratuity. The NOLA Grilled Oysters come sizzling on a hot griddle, with four different fillings, four pieces each, for a total of 16 oysters. The price might seem a bit indulgent, but not if you consider the effort and ingredients that go into this presentation. Each type was flavorful, and there wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy. The salted fish fried rice was an interesting experience. I enjoyed the dish, though the salted fish was less salty than I expected. Someone in our group, who usually doesn't like salted fish fried rice because they find it too salty, actually liked this version for its milder flavor. The plate also includes four large shrimp. The shaken beef was tasty and tender; the garlic noodles were al dente and had just enough garlic--not excessive. The sautéed garlic added a smoky, nutty taste to the bok choy. The quail was marinated well and tasted good--but I wonder if it was fried just a bit too long. After this meal, I chatted with a friend who lives in the community. He'd been to this spot before but dismissed it as just another seafood boil joint. After our conversation, though, he said he'd be willing to give it another shot. I guess your impression of this restaurant depends, at least in part, on what you order. The service, by the way, was excellent.
