Came here to buy stuff for my son's senior night, particularly for balloons. I checked out the balloon section by the checkout counter, and they had a large foil basketball balloon which was $12. I found a clearance section in the back of the store. I love clearance so I started rummaging through it. I felt really lucky because I found a smaller foil basketball balloon for $2. I also found a spa headband for $1, these are so useful when I'm washing my face so I couldn't pass it up. I was at the self checkout ringing my items up, and I had asked the worker if I could bring the balloons back to get aired up. She informed me if I took the balloons out of the store and brought them back it was an extra charge- $10 for the large foil balloon and $7 for the smaller foil balloon. That's extremely expensive! I'm so thankful I asked because she told me that I could finish my transaction and then she could make an order for me to pick up my balloons another day, thankfully I didn't need them the same day and I'm thankful she provided me with that information as I would have not been happy being charged that fee. I came back the day I said I would to pick up my order, and I also needed some latex balloons as well. Every color I needed in singles was available except black. I had to purchase a whole pack of black balloons, and I had them air 2 of them up. The pack of black latex balloons was $2.99, and to air each black latex balloon was $1.99. I was only charged the purchase price of the other single latex balloons, those didn't have a fee to get aired up. It was very inconvenient that they didn't have any single black latex balloons and more expensive. It's probably better to plan ahead with balloons and know exactly what you are paying for. The man working the counter aired up the latex balloons I requested, but it did take some time and another worker had to help check other people out who did not want to use the self check out. read more

First, you could hire a better workers that care about the customers. Why are they working for Michael's? If they don't want to work find another job! Michael's has gone down the hill on the east side at the E. Washington St. store in Indianapolis, Indiana. It's the total pits first of all Noah a black man that works in there is horrendous. His behavior is not acceptable. I won't be back. Beyond him being rude with his comments he could've kept to himself. It's been a long time since I've been to Michael's and they have a self check out so me and another customer were a little confused about how checking out works. He comes over and says to the 2 of us both black women he wouldn't have done it to his white customers I bet he wouldn't he says in an annoyed tone you aren't reading it! Well it's in teeny tiny small print. We're trying to check out without becoming a members.. let me say I can read and write and spell and count and that comment should've been kept to himself. He's walking around, acting like he's the one that's not working with a full deck. He was beyond appalling and he wasn't approachable. He didn't want to be asked anything, Finally, I said I need you to come and help me so I can check out he did reluctantly then here comes another worker I guess the stock girl shaking her head and was visibly disgusted and explaining to him how another customer in the store isn't listening and paying attention. really is this what we've resorted to. It's been years since I've been there and it'll be years before I go back what happened to the little nice older ladies at work there no problem. Not the shiniest Michael's but I had a positive experience and was happy that I was one of only a few in the store on Friday night. I was hesitant to run in and grab items and was fully prepared to stroll out if it was too packed but I felt really comfortable with the way things were set up. It turns out crafters don't show up in hoards on Friday nights at Michaels I was on a mission to grab some Easter decor and quickly found what I was looking for- garland, silks, and egg dying kits at the front of the store. You'll also find fabrics, wreaths, kids craft projects, lawn decor, hobby kits and so on. Again, not the newest Michaels but it got the job done. read more

I recently found myself running to every Michael's store in the Indy metro area looking for a specific item, so this review should serve to compare those 6 locations. This store is a bit on the small side, and I feel like the further back in the store I got, the less impressed I was. Pretty good selection for the size though, and employees were fairly friendly - but I did go in at the end of the night and you could tell everyone was ready to go home for the day. (I didn't blame them, I was ready too!) If you don't find what you're looking for, the Castleton location or Greenwood location are probably your best bet - between this and one of those two, you should be set! read more

I just want to thank the woman who filled my curbside order today. I showed up before getting notification that it was ready, but she promptly filled it and brought it out to me. I typically love going to craft stores and it's hard for me to find anything negative to say about them. However, this was the first time I'd been to the Michael's on Washington St and I was a bit dissapointed. It was a messy inside, many shleves were bare or had random out of place things on them. I also noticed trash on the floor throughout the store. They had a very poor wood rounds/ wood cookies selection compared to other stores. I don't know if this is just the Washington St store or if they are all this way. Maybe they are just understaffed? I did overhear the woman at the register talking to someone about the cricut machines and she seemed very knowledgeable and helpful in what she was saying. I could tell because I own one myself and what she was telling the woman while explaining which machine to get was accurate. I may give this place another shot in the future as it is slightly closer to my house than the greenwood location. But most likely only if I need a quick basic craft supply. read more

Super dead today but it was a Monday. I stop in for random things. Plenty of staff forever running around the store to help. 40 percent off coupons are always available. Stopped in today for a foam mannequin head. Came to the check out and lady was zoning out, when she realized I was there she apologized profusely. They have free craft days every Saturday for the children. Great prices especially with the coupon. They also take JoAnns coupons for better deals. read more

If you need anything framed or want good customer service DO NOT go to this Michaels. I had given my husband an authentic signed Peyton Manning jersey for his birthday and so we took it to Michaels to get framed. The lady that runs the framing department and is "supposed to be" knowledgeable in framing was Brenda Gordon. SHE WAS HORRIBLE.. She portrayed herself as being able to do any type of framing and stated it would be two weeks. Two weeks came and went no call.... call to follow up. She claimed the frame arrived but broke so she had to order another one. Another month passed nothing. Call again and she claimed this time that she actually doesn't know how to frame jerseys and had to go to school for it. Frustrated by this she said that she would give us a $100 credit on the order and it would be ready in a couple of weeks.. time came and went always having an excuse and never calling to follow up with us. I was always the one calling. Next thing I know we are five months into waiting on this frame and the excuses did not stop. So I finally said if you can't complete this then just let us know so we can go somewhere else. Oh no she said she wanted to do it but would refund all of our money. Went in to pick it up today and it looks HORRIBLE. The screws she used caused bubbling in the frame, the jersey is oddly folded in the frame, the corners she chipped and attempted to paint it black I guess thinking we wouldn't notice, and it was not stitched in the frame evenly, and it had the back border coming out of the sides. The manager, Robert, who was on duty called her and when I got her on the phone I said this is really messed up and she said quote "oh I know doesn't it look horrible". Then she proceeded to blame it on everything but herself and then tried telling my husband it was not a $1400 frame but a $450 frame. That is incorrect.. we may have paid $450 for it but normally the cost of this frame is $1400. My husband, upset and rightfully so left and this Robert manager had the nerve to cuss at me telling me how my husband needs to calm down and he was out of line. Even when I asked if we could just go to another Michaels store to have them fix this he didn't bother helping with that and then tried telling me he is a customer service manager. Well let me go on record that he was the worst customer service manager I have ever dealt with and both him and Brenda should be fired. I will NEVER go to a Michaels again and now we have to try and find someone to fix this when it should have been done right five months ago. I feel both an exciting sensory overload and overwhelming panic attack when I step inside a Michael's. The magnitude of products on the walls and hung in the aisles is astounding. I usually end up buying $50 worth of random craft supply stuff that I didn't intend to purchase, and probably won't use once my Michael's craft high wears off. Three stars just because with this much STUFF, you'd think store employees would be around more to assist, but I guess they like you to wander so you spend the extra $50. read more
