Had a VERY expensive piece of art I wanted a custom frame for. They trimmed the canvas too much and now it falls out of the frame and bubbles. Total disappointment and lack of care on their part. I thought I would support a local store rather than more internet shopping, so Michael's was one of the stores I visited. Walking in I noticed a lady and her daughter say loudly, "then forget it" walking out frustrated. I grabbed a few things and was ready to use my 50% off coupon; I had both one printed from Michael's website and one they mailed me. The cashier said the postcard was expired and the printed version can not be accepted w/o a bar code. I said sure it says right here, "accepted in store or online" and "use Promo Code: 50Save10117" but she would not even look at me then looked away and rolled her eyes. I said I can pull it up on my phone and she said it has to be printed, I replied, sure it is printed right here handing her the print out. She looked away dismissively. Although there was no line on a Sunday afternoon I too said, "then forget it" and walked out frustrated. Even with the 50% off I was sad to see the internet price was still better. This is my 1st time to take a Wilton decorating class located in Encinitas. The instructor, Rebecca, is so nice and helpful. If I have any questions she doesn't hesitate to patiently answer. I would highly recommend taking a class with her. read more

This is my favorite michaels by far. I'm always stopping in for random bits and bobs and I have to say the new management has done a fantastic job at turning the store around! Employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. The last few times I stopped in Sarah & Madeline helped me find exactly what I was looking for with a smile and they seemed to actually be interested in what I was working on which was fabulous. I've noticed a lot of new younger employees rather than the grumpy older ladies that I used to see. Overall customer service is great and even though the lines can be a bit slow sometimes they usually have another cashier open up. Love this Michael's! read more

I was surprised to see some bad reviews on here because every time I visit this Michaels I am impressed with the customer service I get. The store is smaller than other Michaels and maybe an older building but lately it seems to be looking better and better. They must have gotten some new managers. The store is always crowded with people but I never have a long wait in the lines. The cashiers have always been friendly and fast. And everywhere I go, I've been asked if they could help. My wife and I buy a lot of crafts and small toys to give away for children at church and we find some awesome deals here. We occasionally have to get project supplies for our children at home for school as well. I have been to the Escondido Store close to my house but really don't like it due to rude management who can barely crack a smile. I will continue to come here because of the courtesy and friendly customer service and amazing deals. read more

This is the most unorganized store I have ever walked in. The line that I had to wait in to puchase a few small things took 25 minutes... and the reason for that is because they only had 1 register open. And the woman running it was beyond rude. I wouldn't recommend shopping here to anyone. Save yourself the stress and the time. read more

I find myself wishing on a regular basis that there was somewhere else I could find the things I needed without shopping here. I try Etsy and other online sites whenever I can, but sometime certain supplies or time constraints make it necessary to go through the torture of this place. From the physical space to the (complete) lack of customer service this place is the worst! The checkout line is an absolute cluster EVERY time ( last time one of 3 employees working 3 of the 6 registers left and closed her line with a 4 person line up to go back to stocking shelves and chatting with another employee- really?). I must caution you to ALWAYS check your receipt. I have been inaccurately charged on several occasions and when I attempt to correct it it is yet another mess. I try to keep track of my purchases now as I check out since I have had such issues and was told (by a manager no less) that what rings up on the register and what prints out on the receipt are never the same ( I don't mean itemized before coupons I mean total at the end!) I see this as a big problem. None of the departments are staffed with anyone having ANY knowledge of projects or advice to offer. Bottom line- if you must you must but know what to expect when you shop here. An experience to be dreaded! read more

One thing I can say about Michaels Encinitas is that they are always consistent. I get treated like crap just about every time I go there. I live not far from the store but found myself waiting until I am near one of the other locations before shopping. The thought of going onto this pit and being aggravated for the rest of the day just isnt worth it. Yesterday was NO different!!!! Once again I was in the middle of a project and needed something to finish. I couldn't find what I was needing and an employee walked by,......stupid me, like an idiot I dared to ask, "excuse me, can I ask you a question?" and as USUAL I got the same attitude I usually get. She turned and looked at me like, "How Dare you Bother me!!!" REALLY!!!!!! Oh Im sorry, I thought this was your JOB!!!! I promise I'll NEVER bother you again!!!! If someone gets a hold of this place and turns it around please let me know!!!!! read more
