I'm not a crafty person, but I still shop Michaels on occasion. Today, I found some cute Valentine items to complete the holiday look on my mantel. I even got a couple of pieces for St. Patrick's Day. They were just starting to put the St. Pat's items out, so I may have to make a return visit. Not being a craft person, I never know where to look for an item. I totally get lost, but it's easy to find an associate who can guide you. Today, I was looking for a large plate stand and the associate who I asked help from, gave better directions than Siri or Alexa. What kept them from getting 4 stars, is that this store did not have the selection or variety that the St. Louis stores have. Hopefully, the amount of merchandise is due to the holiday just ending. Michaels is a fun store to go in and just explore. I go through crafting spurts where I'm in here all the time and then dry spells when I never shop here. It depends on if I'm working on a project. They quit carrying a certain Tim Holtz item that I need, but not sure why. Maybe Holtz doesn't make it anymore. Anyway, that bummed me out. I always find the store neat and organized. I've used this Michael's for two recent custom framing orders, lured in by the "50% off" special that brings the price down within a reasonable range. I don't know about you, but when I bring in an item to frame, I like some help selecting the size, texture, and color combinations of frame and matte materials. At the framing counter, sometimes you'll get good input, and sometimes you won't. The first time, I received a bored stare and the rhetorical question, "You really don't know what you want, do you?" The second time, I was given plenty of suggestions, and time to make a decision. Unfortunately (or was it good fortune?), at pick up, the matte color was not the one I had chosen. However, it looked pretty good, so I skipped an argument, and took it home anyway! read more

The first three time I stopped by this store I had an amazing experience! Great deals and service. I went to return a few picture frames today, all the same type but they were unable to locate the receipt from my phone number for 2 of the frames. I needed the cash back or credit to be put back on credit card to pay that credit card this month. I don't understand how they couldn't find my receipt in their system....huge inconvenience and very displeased with outcome. I do not plan to return to this store again. If anything I'll give the merchandise credit as a gift so that doesn't go to waste or visit another store where I can feel at ease knowing that if I return something I can actually get a refund. read more

I don't understand the people saying Michaels is well stocked. I went in late November to get Christmas supplies and all I and everyone I was there with saw was bare-bones leftovers. I asked the woman working if they were going to get more in. She told me they are going into Mardi Gras and Christmas items were in, in September!!!!! Come on! They need to know who their customers are. We are not all youtube crafters or craft vendors, most are people when in the RIGHT season go to make some of these crafts and they find nothing. VERY disappointing!!! I even went online and I saw "sold out" over and over and never got restocked that I saw. I went elsewhere. read more

I always find that I need an associate to help me find what I need. Lucky I can always find an associate. Michaels also ALWAYS has coupons that you can get online. This time the checker let me use my 40% off of one item and then the 15% off the total. This made the trip worth my drive. read more

I really made a mistake taking my framing to Michael's recently. Their prices are grossly inflated. I had a really great original watercolor I bought that I was itching to have framed. I went to Michael's because of the convenience of it. $400 and a week later, I walked out with a framed watercolor in the most generic and low quality frame imaginable. I should have shopped around so I don't blame them for the poor decision; I am just truly shocked at their outrageous prices for substandard materials and craftsmanship. I have subsequently found a great local frame shop in the area that offers strong customer services, reasonable pricing, and a wide range of frame types and qualities that are priced accordingly. read more

I may be biased because I love crafting but Michaels is as good as it gets for sales on craft items. Being a college student I never am able to use my coupons I get for the next week. But I am always satisfied with their sales and all the products and little nick nacks they have! I love Michael's, but not so much their employees. Earlier this morning, I placed to call to see if an item was in stock. It was a Heidi Swapp memory planner. I had stopped in last Friday to do a little shopping and I noticed them. I decided to wait for the next week's 20% coupon to come out since the item was also 30% off. When I called to hold the item, the employee wasn't aware that they carried the item in question. She placed me on hold to check...less than 10 mins later, she came back with the response "we don't carry an item like that." Seriously? So after work, I decided to stop by. Sure enough, it was on the end cap where it a last week. I went up to the register to pay and the cashier asked me if I found everything ok. My response was oh I found what I was looking for just fine, but when I called earlier to make sure you had this item an employee apparently couldn't find it. read more

RETURN POLICY WARNING!! I recently purchased a couple of value packages of artist's canvas at the Edwardsville store and decided that I needed to return them for a smaller size. I brought the two packages in on Saturday along with my original receipt (I think I purchased them a couple of weeks ago -- certainly less than a month). They gave me a credit, but for a good 20% less, EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY ORIGINAL RECEIPT. What the heck? I didn't discover their trick until I returned home and began recording my purchases and returns for the day. The original receipt did list a lesser "return value" under the purchase price of each item, which I hadn't seen at first, but then, why would I have ever looked anyway? I've NEVER in my life seen a store do this, and besides, there's no way of knowing that you'll get less for a returned item anyway UNTIL YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED that item and receive your sales receipt. How very underhanded. read more
