Michael's has a great bead section along with so many creative ideas.
Brooke, L F.

I love Michael's it has all my craft needs here. Great selection, and service is pretty good sometimes. It would be nice if there was more people to help out when I have a question about a product or a question about art I think that's the only thing they are lacking. But love all their products. I find a lot of art supplies on sale. And I will be back.

A great location at the Tower Shops in Davie FL. Parking is tight sometimes with all the surrounding restaurants. All the isles are full of merch and are neatly stacked. This location has everything a person would need for arts and crafts projects, teaching and student supplies. Discounts posted storewide including some clearance items. The staff was available in the store and the bathroom was clean.

Curbside pickup (DON'T USE) They will ignore it!!

If you need to do curbside pick up don't come to this location. The last SEVERAL times I have come, they don't bring the stuff out. Sitting here waiting for 30 + minutes, tried calling and they don't answer the phone. I have a car full of kids, this is why I use curbside so I don't have to bring them all in with me. RIDICULOUS!!

Michaels is an arts and crafts shop founded in 1973 by Michael J. Dupey in Dallas, Texas when he converted a Ben Franklin that was losing money into a profitable arts and crafts store. They are now one of the largest held privately owned arts and crafts stores in the country with more than 1.250 stores across the country. This Michaels's is located in the Towers Shops of Davie. Shoppers can find arts, crafts, framing, floral and wall décor, and merchandise for home decorators. I don't really think of myself as a crafter but I have been here many times through the years to shop for supplies for my daughter's school projects. All of the aisles are clearly marked making it easy to find what you need. These days I find myself stopping in for their charming home decor or during the holidays for decorations. Since I still work with school aged children there is some of that shopping too. The best thing about Michael's is that unlike their competition, they are open on Sundays.

Love Michael's. The one item that I usually look for is the scented jar candle. I found some Honey / Vanilla scented jars for $2.49. That's a great deal, especially when you can spend almost $20 for other name brand candles that smell pretty much the same. The lady at the register was very helpful and nice and the store is clean and well organized. They have a variety of items that are targeted not only for craft people but also for those looking for home decor ideas, office supplies, etc.

Why buy 1 ball and cut it in 1/2, when you can buy two halves! Genius, but the project calls for 3/4 of a ball! ;P

I have shopped and reviewed this store several times. Here's an update from my recent visit. My daughter had a Life Science project to complete and needed supplies. Michaels is usually the first point of contact for us, so I went and perused the aisles for what I needed. I went up and down the corridors too many times trying to find things where they would logically be located, yet they were not. I finally found an associate and she was helpful, even while having another associate talking in her ear through their equipment, but finding my items was still not easy peasy. I was also sticker shocked to see how expensive foam balls are these days! The one we needed was $20. Even with a 50% off one item coupon, my little trip was costly. And for the sake of perspective, I had just bought a Wilson volleyball in another store for $8!! Nevertheless, this store is overall one that I continue to shop in and hope it will improve. After all, making shopping more affordable and effortless should be every retailers continuous goal.

The store's stock was full. They are enforcing social distancing. All employees are wearing masks and gloves. Guests are required to wear a mask as well. The store was clean and brightly lit. Everything was stocked and in its place. I needed help and had no problem finding an employee to help me. All the employees I had contact with were absolutely happy to be at work and happy to provide any help needed. Check out line had 2 people ahead of me and it only took a few minutes to get through the line and out of the store. Their hours are the same as they were before we got shut down. There was plenty of parking close to the store. I highly recommend for all your craft needs. They also have a few things for school related activities. Check them out! You will be happy you did!

I don't frequent craft shops a whole lot, but I needed a replacement frame for an odd size picture (12x20 inch) that I have. The Michael's in Sunrise/Plantation is closer, but the few experiences I had there were not great. This store is conveniently located in a strip mall with lots of other great shops like Trader Joe's. I really just needed the frame, but I browsed the whole store. In addition to the typical craft shop items, they also have a limited amount of home decor. There seemed to be a lack of staff on the floor, I would assume this is a place where people would have questions or need advice about what to buy for their projects. I browsed the frame section, which is huge, and I was a bit overwhelmed. I did eventually find what I wanted for under $12. If you need frames, this should be your second stop after Walmart (which will be a lot less). They do have the professional framing section, but it's quite costly. Prices here are a bit on the high side, but they do have sales on a variety of items. I came in here mid-day on a weekday, the store wasn't too crowded, but the line to checkout was long.

They were having a great sale on their Christmas items with the discounts being either 50, 60 or 70% off, but unfortunately that sale was a Friday & Saturday only sale. On top of that discount, I also found another coupon on the RetailMeNot app which gave me an additional 25% off (even on sale items)!

Nickicia S.

I came to pickup a online order I placed for in store pickup. The process was quick and easy. I love this store! They have everything for crafting, DIY projects as well as decorations for every occasion. The Christmas decor is already 30% off.

Paints!

If you've been to one Michaels, you've been to them all, right? Note: if you have an electronic coupon, have it ready before you go in. Every time I'm in line, all the Blue Hair's in front of me have issues pulling their coupons up on their smart phones. Have them ready, it'll save time. All of their clearance is in the back left-hand corner. That's where I head to. The store is clean and the staff is nice. They're even sometimes willing to give you a 20 percent off coupon when you "forget yours".

They had rows of different kinds of fabric. We found a row that had duck cloth, which we read about after we got home, that can be used for upholstery. We found a bolt that we both agreed upon and wanted to get a little swatch to see how it would look. It's not a manned area so you have to ring a desk bell and wait for someone to assist you. The girl that came to help us was very nice. She was the same girl I found in another part of the store and asked if they had fabric. She cut a piece for us and told us how much fabric we would need to reupholster 6 chairs. If the fabric looks good with our furniture, we'll be back!

I have started going to Hobby Lobby once or twice a month just because of how much I like the store. The prices are fair and they have great sales. The staff is helpful and courteous. They have so many good, quality products, I just made my first online purchase from their website and that was a great experience as well. I have recommended this store to my friends and family. I had a pleasant shopping experience, Thanks to the wonderful employees of Hobby Lobby, you have helped me get great products for my baking business and many other items for decoration, and always love your discounts/sales.

The store has many different types of toys, including Vintage Star Wars, Transformers, Superman, Spider-Man, Godzilla, ninja Turtles, ThunderCats, huge wrestling section plus so much more! All types of statues, Japanese animation and more. Oh, and let me tell you their Barbie section is awesome! They later tell me the offer they have for everything and the owner tells me "these items aren't worth anything" multiple times and rudely. Then says "if these came in a box it wouldn't have broken". Signifying it was MY fault his worker decided to carry everything at once. I ended up taking the offer even though it was low because one of the figures had broke in their care and no other place would've wanted to purchase a broken item. Ridiculous and words cannot express the way that interaction made me feel. Clearly not everyone there is taught manners or customer service. Never got an apology from them either, do better!

From the outside it doesn't seem too big but you quickly realize how much space they're working with when you step inside. They're filled out wall to wall with comics, collectibles, figures & even have a RPG space set up. I've been to stores that heavily favor one category like super heroes, for example, while leaving all the other genres hanging. PPF however, has one of the best selection of varieties in my opinion. They're loaded with DC, Marvel, TMNT, horror, manga & also carry some niche ones. I also appreciate how they stay up to date on weekly & monthly releases with a section dedicated to them. Prices are solid & they often have a couple limited/exclusive variants. These are a bit overpriced but sometimes it's better to get them in person & support local rather than online & deal with shipping. Years ago, customer service was a bit iffy but recently it's been nothing but great. They greet you right away, have no issues answering questions & act like they appreciate your business. This is a great place to check out if you're a fan of pop culture, comics, figures or books in general. It's really hard to stop by & not leave with something in hand.

A note on the low reviews: I came here before and had the chance to talk to the current owner, the shop has come under new management, so don't let the low reviews scare you! This has genuinely been one of my favorite comic shops in South Florida so I definitely recommend checking it out. Also I know they do challenges for free items on their instagram, so if that's something you're interested in - I'd really recommend following them! Happy shopping, friends~

Plastic Universe is across the street from the Marshall's end of Sawgrass Mills Mall. As soon as I walked in I was warmly welcomed but also left free to explore at my pace knowing help was just a few feet away. The store was actually a lot larger than I thought it would be with thousands of collectible figures spanning decades. Some of the collectibles are very rare, signed, and even come with certificates of authenticity. They carry Mortal Kombat, Transformers, Thunder Cats, Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, Planet of the Apes, World Wrestling Federation, Masters of the Universe, Star Trek, Aliens, Spawn, DC, Marvel, Funko Pop, and almost an entire wall of Star Wars figures from across all of the movies. Seeing all of the Star Wars figures really made me miss my action figures. As a kid, I spent hours playing with them on the Death Star Space Station and crushing them in the trash compactor. As an 80's child I loved the feeling of nostalgia this store gave me. In addition to all of the figures there are a lot of cool props, photo ops, and sports memorabilia. Another feature of the store is it has a podcast booth where they interview people for their podcast Plastic Chats. You can also follow them on Facebook, You Tube, and Instagram. We don't have anything like this in the area so it is great that they decided to open in Sunrise. If they don't have what you are looking for be and sure and ask. I am sure they can point you in the right direction.
