Every time I pass this shop in the tunnels, there seems to be a line, so I gave un to curiosity to see what the fuss was all about. I was a little taken aback, seeing that the cookies were stacked in several piles on the pans, behind the glass partition. The young lady behind the counter explained they were closing soon. At any rate, I ordered the $5.50 two pack of the Chocolate Chunk cookies and continued back to my desk. With my new favorite cookie place breaking the mold on chocolate chip cookies (I won't crumbl under pressure to mention them), I knew that any other place would have a hard time competing. The 2 young ladies working there are so sweet and funny. They were so helpful with cookie recommendations and did not disappoint, I came back in 5 mins. And again the next day for the double chocolate mmm mm! All of the flavors were very tasty, but that one is definitely my favorite. It's a small shop but there is plenty of seating right outside. Stopped here while on my Houston Tunnel Tour (see my review of Urban Adventures for more details) and the lady working was so friendly. I got a toffee cookie and it was still warm! So delicious. I think Michael's cookie jar is really nice place for treat. I had a chance to take a Houston downtown underground tunnel tour. Our tour guide took us here an had a chance to have a big chunk of chocolate chip cookies. It was so yummy and enjoyed so much. They have a big variety of selection of cookies. This is a very dangerous place - especially on Monday's or after 2pm when it is Happy Hour. Their chocolate chip cookies are probably the best I've had. They have daily specials such as their red velvet sandwich cookies or their butterfinger cookies which are delicious. This is down in the tunnel and takes a bit of a walk for me to get there, which is a good thing since I can walk off a bit of the calories. I do wish they had some of the cookies from their other locations here, but what they do have makes up for it. read more

I am not a sweets person and I rarely eat cookies... I stopped here with a co worker getting lunch so I decided to try the lemon and oatmeal raisin.. The Lemon was DELICIOUS... It wasn't too sweet and the lemon wasn't too powerful.. It was perfect... We visited Michael's Cookie Jar during Happy Hour (2-3 PM). I was excited to try this place and wanted so badly to love it. I love surprising my daughter with fresh baked treats. The entire store is indulgent and the cookies are a nice size. However, my white chocolate macadamia nut cookie tasted like tangerines/lemons. I was extremely disappointed. The only perk was that my daughter loved her sprinkle cookie. The person at the cash register was extremely rude when we asked about the rewards cards. There were no other patrons in the store, except myself and my coworkers. I haven't decided if I will be back. read more

I am not a huge dessert fan, but I finally tried a few cookies from here and WOW! THe cookies are dense and packed with extra oomph! For example, the M&M cookie has m&ms and chocolate chunks! What?!?!?! Another goodie is the peanut butter cookie that is dipped in chocolate (half the cookie is dipped). One thing I noticed is the beautifully decorated sugar cookies. They even had Texans sugar cookies! I liked my first visit so much I came back the next day. And the day after that I brought a few coworkers. Please visit this cookie place if you work in downtown. I didn't notice this cookie shop until my colleague drag me in and bought me a Palmier. At the first I was a little bit concern about the boring calorie so I thought I would just take one bite of it, and what a fool I was. The Palmier was crispy, buttery, and not too sweet. It was also very addicting, I say it takes superman's willpower to not finish this delicious treat. I went back to the shop second day with my friends. One of my friends insisted that he doesn't like sweets at all, and then he ravished an entire Macadamia nut cookies. I bought chocolate chunk cookie, peanut butter cookie, and oatmeal raisins cookie. They were all freshly baked and the flavor was very well balanced with the texture. Of course I finished all of them in a day and I accepted the fact I won't be superman anytime soon. The shop provides the punch card where you can get a free cookie after 4th visit in 10 days or less from your first visit. I've also heard that you get a free cookie if you bring a new customer to the shop, but do confirm with the cashier if the promotion is still valid. Oh and did I mention their cashier was very sweet and informational? The shop is small and neat, service was fast and delightful. There are lots of shops in downtown tunnel that selling cookies, but why buy massive factory produced one when you can get the warm fresh baked cookies from Micheal's Cookie Jar? I will try my best to not indulge that much when I go back to the shop. read more

This spot is neatly tucked away in the corner of the tunnel system below the Pennzoil building. Their cookies are baked fresh every day and are delicious. They have just the right amount of butter and cooked so that they are firm but still delightfully chewy. I got the toffee with pecans and peanut butter varieties and both were excellent. A good friend of mine's mom told me about this place a few months ago and I've been several times since. The cookies here are amazing and always taste fresh! Right before the holidays I went with a few co-workers to their Happy Hour (such a fun idea - cookie happy hour!).
