This review is based on customer service during my last visit, and the 2 stars might be generous. I went in search of elastic string and wandered the aisles to no avail until finally coming across a sales associate. I was told the elastic would be in aisle 61 with no offer of showing me in person. I did not find the elastic and so proceeded to the cash register to purchase my other items and ask again. This time the associate said she had never seen such string and left it at that. I'm quite sure that Michaels does carry this product, but they certainly did not go out of their way to assist me in finding it or to confirm whether or not they did or didn't carry it. I am a fan of Michaels, definitely. Craft projects, picture frames, seasonal decorations, silk flowers, bakeware - you are covered, and even better off if you remember to bring your coupons ! The first few trips here I was not the biggest fan. I was used to ones the size of big box stores, not one squeezed into a strip mall. But as I learned my way around the store and realized how they creatively displayed more product than you'd think they could fit inside their walls - I have come to appreciate this location. Lately I've been drawn more towards the framing department, and they have a really friendly staff back there! Just don't forget your coupons! (or load them on your smart phone) read more

This store has so many different things to offer. I came in to get some materials to make a wreath on thanksgiving and the ribbons were on sale. Sadly I couldn't find any Christmas music ribbons in the color I want but I found a blue snowflake one that would work. I love coming here and finding sales and coming out spending next to nothing to make something really cool! read more

I have been to several Michaels on the east coast some small some large, this one is a pretty good size. You'll probably be able to find most of your arts and crafts supplies here. Now the harder part is finding someone to assist you if you have a question or need to get something off the wall. I had come there looking for an easel, and sure enough I found one, didn't take me but 2 minuets. However there was an "ask for assistance" sign, so I set about on search of an employee to help me. After 10 minuets on safari I saw them, standing there, in pack formation. I awaited for a moment of silence between them and struck with, "excuse me". Then I had proceeded to ask for assistance. The pack looked stirred and their alpha male was clearly unhappy, as he gazed towards me with discontent. Quickly one of the younger females attempted to neutralize the situation and agreed to assist me. After our trek back to the valley of the easels, the lady rummaged through some boxes that I could have reached and produced the model easel I was looking for. Disappointed that my previous quest was folly but glad to have obtained what I had set out for, I thanked her and proceeded to one of their counter merchants. read more

One the cleanest locations I've ever been to (my grandmother live for arts and crafts, so that's a lot). I, of course, wanted to indulge in an adult coloring book and the staff were really friendly and helpful! I will definitely come visit this location again when another coloring book is needed for stress-free day. read more

I'll admit it...this store is just overwhelming to me. I'm only slightly crafty - along the lines of hammer/nail/bang/bang/done. I see plenty of ideas of things I'd like to try, but walking along these narrow aisles chock-a-block with ummm - stuff - bamboozles my brain. Baking stuff, t-shirt stuff, frames & posters & paint. Glues & sparkles, tacks & buttons, beads & balsa wood...oh yea & faux flowers...I think you know where I'm going with this! I always find things I want, I get, they sit staring at my non-crafty-ness & they slowly make their way to Goodwill. So - you crafty souls - this is your mecca. (Or Goodwill) read more

If grandma's creative brain exploded on a Sunday afternoon, this is what it would look like. They have paints, glues for any surface or material, brushes, picture frames all shapes and sizes, seasonal arts and crafts, beads and bedazzlers, candles galore, styrofoam in weird shapes and blocks, construction paper, wood shelving that you can stain or color any way you like, fake flowers, glass containers, etc. Also, if you're into scrap-booking Michael's is probably a dream come true. read more

The worst Michael's in Charlotte. Everything is mislabeled. The employees know nothing and the manager doesn't know anything either. And let me not forget to mention I was in line just now for 20 mins for 1 pack of paint that I did not purchase because the cashiers are the slowest humans on earth. read more

Thank goodness for Michaels! Where the "semi-creative" can actually pull something together and create a masterpiece. Haha! I was "tasked" (ugh) to pick up supplies for our pumpkin contest at work. We had a "theme" (kinda)...but no clue of how to make that happen. Thank goodness the staff was helpful! Walking into Michaels can be a bit overwhelming...ok, extremely overwhelming, especially with a not well thought out vision. However, I'm pleased to say I managed to leave with some good stuff and my co-workers were happy. So then why just three stars??? Simply put this store is just way too cluttered. It's not necessarily the fault of the staff, they really have no control of people leaving stuff just anywhere but it can make it hard finding what you need when you have to dig through cards, glitter ornaments, plastic flowers and stickers. But if you are every tasks out for work projects, I definitely recommend stopping here to get the creative juices flowing. read more

I spent many summers practically living at Michael's...and now I have plenty of scrapbooks to show for it! I love craft stuff! Michael's is a great place for most of your craft making needs. They have a good selection of scrapbooking supplies, silk floral supplies, and baking stuff...you'll stay very busy once you spend an afternoon in here. They do not have a fabric section and I've found that there are other craft stores with a larger selection (e.g., Hobby Lobby). However, this Michael's is in a great location and is a pretty good size. read more

I have given this Michaels a 1 star and I wish I could give no stars to show how unprofessional and non-polite the employees are. My friend and I went to Michael's to get ideas for our holiday dinner, where we were looking for orchards and center pieces to put on our table. First thing it was hard to find someone to assist us and once we found a woman to help us, she was very unpleasant and didn't want to help. She really didn't know where any of the center pieces were and just passed us on to another store employee. Secondly once we walked to the counter where the other employee was arranging flower arrangements, We both stood there for at least 2 minutes until he decided to acknowledge that we were standing there! Once he finally acknowledged that we were standing there he neither help us like the other employee did! All he said was "whatever we have would be over in that section" and all he did was point his finger in the direction in which he was talking about, never lifting up his head from his project that he was completing on his desk. In all I never found what I was looking for and wasted nothing but time. I will definitely never be returning to this Michaels and encourage you all to do the same!! read more

Cricut customers beware. If you buy anything cricut, this store does not offer refunds on defective items. The printable vinyl falls apart when I tried to color it. Manager insisted she can't refund it because she could not resell it. Why would you sell something defective to another customer anyways? I was told to call cricut. "Michaels is only a distributor," Guess what? I'm only a customer that will choose to spend her money with another "distributor." After spending hundreds in-store and several awesome classes, I'm sad that I won't be back. read more

I was in need of a specific size of new sewing needles with blunt points, and after searching for a while online with Joann's and Michaels, Michaels said they had them at Park Road location. I ordered 4 packs to have some reserve stock and I drove 8 miles to the store to pick them up. I didn't think about checking the order, and didn't do so until getting home. Out of 4 packs of needles, two packs are different in size (needle eye size and length size) and look like they are sharp needles. The stock numbers on the two packs are different from the other two packs and different from stock number on order receipt. I have to go to a Michaels store somewhere to get this corrected because a Michaels employee didn't check their work. Very aggravating. read more

Michaels is every Pinteresters dream store. They have every crafty item needed. Block of floral foam. Got it. Giant glass martini glass. Check. Baking supplies to make that Rainbow Cake. Yup, that too. My dislikes... It is cluttered and disorganized. The staff doesn't really seem to know what's going on either. But there is ALWAYS a sale. Never pay full price at Michaels. There is always a 40-50% off coupon you can get in the Sunday paper or online. read more

I love Michaels! The employees have always been really helpful if I can't find what I'm looking for. They have an awesome section of adorable home decor. Not to mention the generous amount of DIY and craft supplies they offer. I also love the fact they always have coupons out and I don't ever have to pay full price. This place is absolutely disgusting. I love love love Michael's and I was so excited to find this location which was closer to my house than the location I had been visiting, but forget it! I will drive the ten extra minutes. On the outside you can't really tell, and I've been to this location 3 times now. We arrived Saturday morning not long after opening so I always expect that things may be a little hectic with people putting out stock and so on. This go around the aisles were almost impassible and it makes the store difficult to shop. They had two associates in some aisles lining one side with new product and with their stock lining the other side. This was not my complaint though. Today I made the mistake of using the restroom at this location and holy cow if I had not been picking up a framing order I would have left in that moment. There was feces splattered on the wall that had been there long enough to dry and change colors. The porcelain on the toilet was nasty with colored mystery stains that had also had time to dry. The back of the toilet was wrapped up in some weird material with yellow and brown on it. My husband and I travel a lot and since I have bladder trouble I have been in lot of sketchy bathrooms, but this has been the worst of the worst. Craft stores always have the worst bathrooms and this one was just appalling. I won't be returning to this location again, I will just take my Michael's coupons to Jo Ann and AC Moore from now on. read more

I have nothing bad to say about the selection or quality, but no matter what Michaels I have ever been to anywhere in the four states I have lived, the checkout process is horrendous. I have NEVER not had to wait under 10 minutes in line. There are never enough registers open. Today, I sat my purchase down and left. It's not just the merchandise that matters, customers want a speedy checkout. At least I do! read more

I usually go to another crafts store closer to my house but I figured I would try Michaels because I figured bigger store/ bigger selection. The layout of the store is fairly easy to navigate if you are looking for the more common items. I was looking for a specific type of plastic that is usually by the glue guns (at most stores). After searching for roughly 10 minutes with no luck I went and asked an employee I seen re-stocking some inventory. She acted like I asked her if she could come out and help push my car to the gas station when I asked her if she could help me find the item. She walked about 4 steps and pointed and said if you can't find it there then we don't have it. I thought that was odd because friendly plastic is pretty common, especially at a crafts store. Anyway, I looked around for another 10 minutes and found it and it was no where near where she told me it would be. Customer service here was terrible. read more

I shop at Michael's on a regular basis and on the majority of those visits the customer service is lacking. Whenever I ask someone for help it seems that I am really putting them out, but they do always attempt to help me. However, tonight's service was much more disappointing. I was at the register purchasing over $50 in artificial flowers when I realized my 20% off entire purchase coupon was not valid until tomorrow. I asked the manager if she would be willing to grant the coupon tonight and she said that she would not be able to and that I would need to come back tomorrow to use the coupon. I understand if she is not able to scan the coupon, but I was surprised to hear that as a manager she would not be willing to apply the same discount to my purchase. At this point I had to ask for them to put everything on hold only for me to return less than 24 hours later to make the purchase. As a manager this was a poor decision. In this situation this didn't make Michael's any additional money, all this did was disappoint and inconvenience a customer. Michael's is very generous with its sales and coupons and I feel the decision made by the manager in this situation was not a good one. read more
