Came here on a Christmas Eve yarn crawl with my in laws and husband while visiting town for Christmas. Charlotte yarn was a great stop with a great variety of yarns to choose from including local spun and dyed yarns (one of which my mother in law bought for me as part of my Christmas gift!). The service was friendly and I love that they offer knitting classes and do knitting circles! The yarn values range from single digits (like the 100% cotton skeins I purchased) to low 30s (like the skein my mother in law bought me) - I'd say it's a typical range for a yarn store! Overall a great spot! read more

Lovely and helpful employees. The selection of yarn is impressive, and the prices are very reasonable.

A true gem in the area and in the Charlotte Fiber community! The staff is some of the warmest and most helpful of many yarn shops I've been to. They have a great selection, and often host great trunk shows. read more

Wonderful store, knowledgeable staff, very friendly vibe and lots of beautiful sample pieces on display.

The staff was so friendly and helpful. They made me feel like we were old friends even though I was from out of town and it was my first visit. The selection was varied and diverse and included yarn that was dyed for the shop. There were a large variety of yarn weights, colors, and fibers for your project needs. The costs of the yarn were comparable with other high quality yarn stores that I have visited, including international stores. Overall, I highly recommend Charlotte Yarn and will visit again the next time I am in Charlotte. read more

Had the best experience here! I know nothing about yarn, and by the time I walked out my friend and I had everything we needed to start our first scarves. Remi and Julie are amazing! They are so kind and know what they are talking about when it comes to yarn! They even have classes where you can learn all sorts of things! If you live and Charlotte and need a new hobby you should definitely check out Charlotte yarn! read more

My folks recommended this shop which sells a variety of knitting, crochet, embroidery, and needlepoint supplies. This shares a parking lot with Harris Teeter - you should be able to find parking in the morning or early afternoon. It's a small shop on the right side of the plaza. The embroidery and needlepoint supplies are at the front of the store, yarns are on the right and left side of the shop. In the front right corner and back right corner are places where people can sit - I think there was a knitting session taking place when I came in, as people were working on projects. (These are likely the same spaces for classes taught there.) They have many sample projects on display by the respective yarns used, which help give people ideas and inspiration for what they could do with the yarns. Speaking of which, they have a unique offering of them in various blends and fibers. I didn't buy anything but I'd come back here if I had a project in mind. read more

This is the first time I had been to this gem and was absolutely blown away with how amazing it was. My friend brought me to help me start my new hobby and the people were so friendly! It made me want to stay and chat as if they were already friends! They are talented and knowledgeable and very clearly inclusive of all people based on conversation and observations of interactions with several customers. High quality, friendly, unique and special. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Ever since my first visit in 2020, everyone at Charlie Yarn treats me like an honored guest. Remi Haygood (owner) and her staff go out of their way to provide best-in-class products, advice, and learning opportunities. For years, Charlotte Yarn wins awards for their outstanding and varied classes. I've taken three classes and was delighted with the outcomes from each one. The shop feels like another home and I encourage new and experienced knitters to visit! read more

Owner is sweet and knowledgeable. My second trip in and I'll be back again next week for a new project. Beautiful yarns and great advice.

Super nice people. You can sit and knit there and they will help you! Beautiful yarn too!

If you want to get your knitting on, check this place out! I ended up coming here on a Tuesday night for a beginners knitting class since I've always wanted to learn how to knit. It's nestled in a nice shopping area with a lot of parking spaces. (I like to have my easy parking spaces.) When you walk in, get ready to feel the crafty vibes in the store. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a warm smile. I did a lap around the store, keep in mind that it's small, but with a cozy feeling. There are so many yarn options and tools to chose from! There are also a lot of displays so you can get a feel for what type of project you would like to work on. I had checked out and everyone in the store was so warm and caring asking if I needed any other items or if I had any questions to what I had bought. Didn't have any since I was just waiting for class to start. Definitely come and check out the classes as the instructor, Sandy, is just wonderful! She was patient with all of her students...okay, I was the difficult student that kept messing up, but she never lost faith in me and assured me that I would know how to knit by the end of class. All the students also received helpful worksheet papers to take home and help us guide us. Even during the class, Sandy stated that if you ever need help in regards to a knitting pattern, we can always feel free to stop by the store and someone would be able to help us. That is great customer service right there. I definitely plan on coming back more to support this business and get more yarn as the options are amazing! read more

This place really has a lot to offer the casual crafter. They have a lot variety in their yarn selection and have plenty of instructional books and classes to help out. The staff is also very knowledgeable about most projects and are more than willing to give advise. The only problem I had was the lack of useful stuff for more advanced projects. Maybe I should sign up for one of the classes. I don't know. Anyway, they said they were moving locations soon. So in October they will be at the Kenilworth Commons. read more

This is a great shop if you are looking for the perfect yarn for your next project. They always stock what is trendy (like that weird ribbon yarn) and have a lot of Panther colored yarn (they need some Charlotte Checkers yarn... then I'd be in more often!) There are a lot of yarn shops in Charlotte, but it's not necessarily my favorite. The staff always seems nice, but they definitely cater to their regulars and the "in crowd." I always feel like there is this vibe of the cool customers and if you aren't one of them, you might not have as positive of an experience. All in all, a nice shop. The longer I've been knitting, the more rarely I find myself at yarn shops, because I've gathered too much of my own stock and cravings for the more rare yarns to visit local stores as much as I should. read more

This is one of my favorite yarn shops in Charlotte. It's not the closest, it's not the cheapest... but if I want something interesting & beautiful, I know I can find it here. All of the employees of the shop (there don't appear to be that many) are very helpful and friendly, but the owner is simply amazing. Seriously, I've only been in the shop 6 or 7 times over last few years, but she remembers my name, the yarn I picked up last, the project I was making with it, and even the person I came in with a few times before and what they were making. Because she remembers so many details, she's able to make fantastic suggestions on yarn & notions. I haven't been disappointed yet with any of her suggestions. I'm not sure if she has a database installed directly in her brain or what, but she makes you feel very welcome. If anyone ever needs lessons on how to grow a small business & make customers feel right at home, just stop by Charlotte Yarn for a few minutes. read more

I am a huge supporter of shopping at local yarn stores. I originally learned how to knit and crochet at local yarn shops and believe that they can carry these handcrafts into future generations in a way that online resources can't. There is no substitute for one on one help and instruction. Charlotte Yarn is my FAVORITE yarn shop in Charlotte. Remi and her staff are delightful and always willing to help. Remi carries a great selection of yarn and when she doesn't have something in the store, will order it for me (provided she carries that line, but she carries many lines). She orders quickly and let's me know right away when my order comes in. I noticed a previous review that was only 3 stars. Please know that Charlotte Yarn was in a different location and under different ownership at that time. I highly recommend this store! read more

I love Charlotte yarn! I first took my knitting classes there about 5 years ago. Even though I got frustrated, they helped me and I stuck with it. They do have an extensive yarn supply, with all of the unique yarns you would be looking for. They will also help you to order anything you may need for all projects you are working on. If you are working on a project and get stuck or need help, every person who works in the store will assist you or find someone who can. If you are a beginner and want somewhere great go learn and continue to learn, I suggest you try here. It is a wonderful local spot! read more

This is a very nice yarn shop with an extensive stock. It isn't the greatest yarn store ever, but the kindness of the owner and two shop dogs won me over. The owner was genuinely concerned with not only our shopping experience but our experience in Charlotte. And, they have their own dyed yarn...not much but what they have is great. Check it out! read more

So happy that I found Charlotte Yarn -- a beautiful shop, with helpful & friendly staff. Sandy is the "greatest" teacher! I have been closed in for weeks now and found this beautiful pattern to knit, followed the link to Charlotte Yarn for the yarn. Well, I messaged them on a Sunday and they replied in a timely matter and showed me the kits, I had them hold me one( no credit card was asked for) so I went MONDAY. I can't believe a yarn store was open on Monday, but the best thing was the service! One of the nicest stores I've ever been in! I'm coming back!
