I'm not a fan here, but my wife is. I don't get Arts or Crafts but she loves it and speaks highly of it.

I'm updating my review because the store has changed locations and made some really positive…read morechanges. The selection of yarn is much more diverse and colorful, but still on the more expensive side. I'm okay with paying for good quality fiber, especially when this store stocks indie dyers from across the country that literally no other stores in NJ carry. The staff is so friendly and beyond helpful with picking colors and yarn for projects. The only reason this review doesn't get 5 stars is because of a harassing message someone associated with the store sent me back in February regarding my first review - she told me I was a liar and that I should go buy acrylic yarn to rub on my clients. After that she found my business page and left a 1 star review with some pretty nasty remarks about myself and my office that I had to have removed, as she has never been a client of mine. It's too bad too, because I really like the store and this entire interaction has made me Re-think where I spend my hard earned money. I wish that woman hadn't crossed the line, professionally speaking. Otherwise I'd have forgotten all about this in time and been a happy and loyal customer. You missed a golden opportunity to turn this entire situation around...

I know absolutely nothing about yarn or knitting. However, I needed to pick up a gift for a friend…read morewho is *very* much into it so I dropped by The Blue Purl while visiting Madison. I am very happy I did! The Blue Purl is a beautiful shop. It looks like you're hanging out in someone's beautiful den (who just happens to LOVE knitting with TONS of yarn on shelves). Here's the brilliant part: The Blue Purl has several preset kits you can buy as gifts. Each one includes all the yarn you will need with a card or paper inside with color photos showing you what the end product will look like. This was *perfect*! I wound up finding a set and it made for a super easy purchase. One more fun thing: the shop owners will also wind the yarn for you at no additional cost. This is probably old hat for knitters but for me this was a very cool thing to witness so I had some fun too! I highly recommend The Blue Purl if you need gifts for a knitter or need supplies for yourself.

Came here to see the showroom for Hunter Douglass window treatments…read more Not what I was expecting of a showroom, seemed underwhelming, but once I spoke with Suzette, I was able to go through the selections and options more thoroughly. Very friendly staff. While not everyone was able to help us with the HD window treatments specifically, they tried hard to answer our questions, and obviously felt bad that we were waiting around not being helped -- only because the Suzanne was occupied with another couple. Once we were helped, we got a price breakdown. There was definitely no upselling. She gave us affordable options, explained the different types of window treatments (the benefits of motorized ones to regular pull downs) and also price points of more expensive options. We left after making an appointment with the designer, who takes preliminary measurements and a more detailed price estimate. After that, Chris came for more exact measurements, then we waited until the product was made. Fast forward 8 weeks later (a large custom sized shade), Chris came back to install, and within 45 minutes of his arrival, it was all done -- we had our pull down black out shades. Very happy, blocks out a lot of light, and waking up in the morning is a lot less painful without the sun beaming straight into our eyes. Would recommend!

My trip to Knit Kit was interesting, to say the least. I did a POI search in my GPS to find it. The…read moresearch revealed several web listings on different websites all showing the same address. I still ended up driving by it twice, though. It's in a complex that looks like it was almost certainly a low end motel at some point, and several of the units have satellite dishes (suggesting that they are private residences). Since I had trouble finding the place, I took the picture that appears here on Yelp to help others find the business. As I was unbuckling my four month old son from his carseat, an older woman comes up to me and asks in a hostile tone why I'm taking pictures of Knit Kit. I explain that it was for Yelp, a business review website. The lady proceeds to say to me: "No. She's not on any websites. Knit Kit? No. You don't take picturesof her. She'll kill you." Now, I'm a 32 year-old, roughly 210 pound male. So I'm not going to pretend that I felt threatened by this small woman. I still think it's poor form to threaten a person's life while that person is tending to his infant, however. My wife and I still tried to go in, despite this initial adversarial welcome. When I tried turning the door handle, it was locked. What kind of a business isn't open at 2:30 PM on a Wednesday? In summary, a seedy location with inconvenient hours guarded by an ill-tempered woman (who may or may not be affiliated with the business, but threatens your life on behalf of the business owner). I don't think my wife or I will be returning. That stinks, too. This place is way closer to our home than the place in Westfield where my wife usually goes. ...and to the sentry of Knit Kit, please note that there were two reviews on here before today. So Knit Kit apparently is on the web. Sorry to disappoint you.
