I returned to this store to give it another try after I learned that there was new ownership. The new owner has "transformed" this store. Although there was always soft, instrumental music and nice offerings, what transformed this store, and set it apart for me, was their new owner and her calm way of interacting with us. This place is unbelievably rude!! While opening the door and about to enter they screamed "NO STROLLER" about 2 times I was so embarrassed for them! Instead of coming up to us and kindly saying would you mind leaving your stroller outside? After telling my mother inlaw about the incident she said another friend of hers was in there and got a phone call and they said "NO cell phones" and asked her to leave. Prices have really increased at N'Joy Yourself and I noticed more seconds being sold. I could mention the items but suffice it to say that I saw seconds. Then, less than 5 mins after I entered their store, I went to reach for a price on an item in their window, and a worker ran up behind me saying: "Don't touch that!! We have more in the back!!" (....I thought, How would I know to ask someone to assist me. There was no sign anywhere telling a shopper that they had to ask to see anything in the window.) After that, I was somewhat leery to continue shopping there. Also, it was never explained what items could be purchased directly off their "selling" floor. Or, what items had to be retrieved from their storeroom. When I asked. I was told: "Some things are in the back. Some are out." OK, so, I guess I need to be a little more psychic to shop there. Then, I put something down on a table that I intended to buy so that I could look at something else. And, two minutes later, my item had vanished. When I asked where the item had gone, another worker said: "It didn't belong where You Put It, So, I Put It Back." Well, in my opinion, that is a pretty Rude Way to speak to a paying customer. And, I was the only customer in the store. Hmmm, I wonder why. And, they seem to have another "unwritten" rule in this store. They don't want you holding whatever you want to buy as you are shopping. They want to take it from your hands and put it near the register!! I notice this isn't written on a sign either. I was holding one small item at the time. (Dear Owners, Please allow your customers to shop in peace. If we want to be pestered while we are shopping, we would bring our husbands!!) I felt like I was being watched while I was trying to shop. In one room, I was looking into a camera ..... Come on, this is ridiculous. Hide the camera or change the name of the store from N'Joy Yourself. I can't imagine people enjoying themselves here unless they were friends or family of the owners. And, it's not the first time their workers were rude but I always give a store more than one chance. Am very sorry that I did. To be fair, they do sell cute "doodads" to quote another poster but I'm not sure they are worth the treatment of being watched and being asked repeatedly if they can help, or being told Don't Touch That, or That An Item Didn't Belong Where I Put It. That is the job of the salesperson to put an item back after a customer leaves and not to tell the customer that the customer left it in the wrong place. (I intended to buy the item any way and would not have thought to leave it in the wrong place.) I shop in many stores and never encountered treatment like what they get away with here. Then, when I was ready to pay, they had a problem accepting debit cards. Why wasn't I surprised that paying them would be a problem, too. Fortunately, I had a credit card with me. With the bad economy and with all the nice business owners that have had to close their stores in their village alone, I cannot believe this store remains open. read more

I stumbled upon this store, and although they have a great selection and cute holiday gifts, the women in there are SO anal. They followed me throughout the store and everytime I picked something up and put it down, they quickly rushed over and "fixed" it in it's proper position on the shelf. Like I had moved it 1 millimeter, and they moved it precisely,back 1 millimeter. I hate being followed in a store, so I left empty handed. These new owners like a previous post states ARE the rudest most clueless pathetic example of store owners I have ever experienced. I have been doing business with this store for over 25 years but not anymore now that they own the place. I purchased 2 battery operated candlesticks, got them home and one did not work. I need 2 to be a set and match so I thought I would return them as I figured they must be cheap junk that I didn't want to get stuck with if the other broke in a few weeks. They refused to credit me, store credit only for something that was defective to begin with. How's that for brains not to stand for the customer but your lousy $23. They must really be hurting not to give money back. They told me I was making a big deal out of $23! Yea I guess so since it's not only MY money but the point of the thing. I certainly understand an "all sales final" policy but not for something that is broken you are pawning off on your customers! So to anyone going to patronize this business, use a credit card only so when they deny you a return you contact your credit card company and they will remove the charges from your bill. I will NEVER set foot in this store again and by the way from the get go they were never friendly since they took over ownership and I highly doubt that with attitudes as they have they can't possibly stay in business. Good riddens! I also reported them to the Better Business Bureau!! Selection is not as good as it used to be either. They said, "we'll help you find something else" to replace. No! I visited for the first time a few weeks back with my husband and daughter. It was a beautiful store with wonderful items in it but the staff there is beyond rude. My daughter by accident "broke" an ornament and both staff members turned to her and pointed their fingers and said "you broke it" and embarrassed her in front of the entire store. The glare they gave her could have knocked her over. I thought is was extremely rude. I paid for the ornament but will never set foot back in the store again. They need some younger more friendly staff. read more

This is absolutely my favorite store in Hunterdon County (just ask my husband). Nancy, Joyce, and Cheryl are always very friendly and willing to help you without being pushy. Their furniture and accessories are beautifully arranged for each season and all USA made. You will need to walk around their shop more than once to take in all of their unique items. I have to agree the Theresa - I have been shopping in this store for over 12 years and have experienced the rude treatment several times. I keep forgiving them for it - stayed away for over a year once because they were so rude to me. My cell phone wrang while I was in the store - I was the only customer in the store at that time and I was in the back room where the kitchen type display is - the owner came back and told me to get off my cell phone or go outside. I was actually talking to my friend who I was buying something for - checking with her as to whether or not she would like what I was describing - I was buying her a birhday gift. She is also a frequent customer with me - she stayed away for the full year as well. I went outside and didn't return for well over a year. I went to the Keeping Room in Whitehouse and purchased her present there. I spend hundreds of dollars in this shop every year - they know me well. But I have to agree with the rudeness that they exhibit if you touch something, move something or use a cell phone. They are like little old ladies with a grouchy attitude. My mother, my cousin and I were in need of some gifts for a family gathering. We were intrigued by the N'Joy Yourself's antique and "homey" look. But let me tell you, once we were inside we definitely did not feel a home. In the first few minutes of entering the store, I could tell that we were not welcome. The sales staff did not acknowledge us or offer us any assistance as we admired the merchandise. We spent about 20 minutes quietly roaming the store and contemplated several purchases. I would like to note that we were not loud, rude, or rowdy. In fact, we barely said anything unless it was to discuss buying a product. All of the rules that were clearly placed around the store (for example, "do not sit on the furniture" and "we don't mind your kids if your kids mind you") were obeyed and respected. However as we left, the only salutation we got from the staff was a "get the hell out" that I heard one of the sales women mutter while closing the door. I am shocked by the way we were treated.. with throw pillows and teapots decorated with mottoes centered around love and kindness I was at least expecting a "have a nice day" Although the merchandise was very nice, these stores are a dime a dozen and I would rather spend my money at businesses that hire employees who treat customers with respect. All of our family and friends will be N'Joying ourselves elsewhere. Send people that I care about to a store with employees that treat people with disgust?! I think not. read more
