Imagine ordering a single item online because you think it will be an easier experience to have it brought curbside rather than entering the store. And imagine you discover that this was an utterly disastrous choice that threw off your entire hectic schedule. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that this Michaels isn't like others and is severely understaffed, but we learned that the hard way. Let me be clear that it isn't the employees who make this a lesser Michaels. It's the management and the inefficiency of their system here. After following the online check-in protocol and parking outside in an allocated spot, we waited for 20 minutes our singular item to arrive at the car. It never did. We entered the store only to find a long line. One unfortunate cashier worked mightily to handle the madness when at least two should have been present. But they struggled to keep up with the issues arising. This is the reality of some stores in a post-COVID era who have turned to self-scanners and fewer employees. But it was reaffirmed on this early evening that you simply cannot replace human problem solving. The line grew. The desperate cashier recommended using the self-scanning checkout options to diminish the line. Only one person obliged and none of the others budged. But they had good reasons, mostly. One customer in line needed to make a return which requires human interaction. Another customer had just one question about framing as it appeared that not a single other employee inhabited this enormous store, with nobody stationed in the popular framing department. Elderly customers in line were technologically afraid of the self-scanners. And I just needed to pick up that ONE ITEM! When it was finally my turn, the employee had to leave the growing line and walk to a shelving section of online orders. Shouldn't there be an employee who handles just that? And they found my name but no product. That caused another 10-minute delay. They eventually just pulled another one off the shelf. But a quick errand on the way to an important appointment that should have taken about five minutes in theory became a 40-minute fiasco. And none of it was the fault of the solo employee trying to run the operation. Shame on the manager(s) for putting them in that position. I've now discovered why this is the lowest rated Michaels in Middle Tennessee! read more

I brought a painting of a friend's Golden Retriever in for framing. Brent did a great job framing it and got the framing done in record time so my friend and I could pick it up quickly. He was friendly and kind and went above and beyond the usual to make our experience a good one. The painting looks beautiful, and my friend will treasure it forever. read more

zero, there is no one to be found, I'm not sure where all the workers were . But there was at least 3 of us searching for someone that worked there. It was like scarring... I purchased 83.00 dollars and was so frustrated from the lack of customer service that I returned it all when someone finally appeared at the front of the store , where by the way all of the registers were completely unsupervised. As I voices my frustration, some little blonde girl was actually laughing at me. It was a crazy unpleasant experience. There are other stores that I can buy wrapping paper, tape , and crayons. I quickly stopped into this Michael's, as my hotel was located in the same parking lot. I was on the search for palm leaves in the middle of June. I was not required to wear a mask, and I was aiming for a quick in and quick out trip. To be honest, I could not find what I needed at a good price. I was able to find a lady behind the front desk to help me. She was able to help me a bit, as long as we stayed by the front of the store. She pointed it out and I'll number further back in the store, and I was able to go search for what I needed by myself, as she was not able to leave the front register. It was not very crowded. Unfortunately, the prices of the palm branches were more than I wanted to pay. A palm branch ran anywhere from $10 to 15 to almost $20. I needed it for a church service to wave during worship. I decided to pass due to the expensive prices. Regardless, the store was very conveniently located. It was next to the Hilton hotel, as well as in a large shopping center near home depot. I do receive emails from Michael's, and I do appreciate that they sometimes send coupons. read more

I took a print in to have it framed and got it back a month later. Service is very poor. I'm not blaming the people who work there. It's because they have a lack of employees. they had to call a team in from another store to finish up the orders. I had two other prints for framing, and took them to another place. They completed the framing in two weeks which is standard. I gave this a one star because of the poor service. read more

The selection was okay, the value is okay, the coupons are pretty good. But, this kiosk can cause issues. The other day when I was in two of us are having issues and there was absolutely nobody around to help. We even press the help icon on the computer. So I had to just leave. When I came back the next day to get help and to make sure the coupon was working they wouldn't let me use it because it was out of date. That is not the way to keep customers! Wide range of options for choosing a craft item (if you are just testing the waters so to speak). Clerks will be happy to assist if you have questions. Standard supplies of beads and paint and plastic posies, kids' crafts, baking supplies and yarn et cetera remain fairly steady while displays and seasonal specials change periodically. Watch for sale signs and always check for coupons. Custom framing is absolutely excellent...but as it is with all framing these days...expensive. So, once again, check on discounts - they have been known to honor competitors' coupons. I love this store - admittedly because the location is so convenient, but I can usually find what I need. One thing that's cool about the Michaels website is that it can tell you if the store has it in stock. If it's a specific thing and I need to make sure if they have it, I'll call first. If they are out it's usually a supply chain problem. Also, because it's a smaller store I understand that they can't carry volume. They have some stellar staff that are friendly and helpful. I'll gladly continue to shop here. read more

Before I became a homeowner, I didn't know what Michaels was. Seriously; true story. I had no need to ever step foot in the store. That all changed when I needed framing. I needed a lot of framing. It turns out that framing is like window treatments: you have no idea how ungodly expensive it all is but it's worth it to spend the money because it's an investment. So, yes: framing costs money (not all the time) but that money is usually well-spent. I'd been to other Michaels stores and have other stores closer to me but for reasons that I won't go into here, they (well, 'it') were (was) no longer in the rotation. I was forced to head down to Brentwood. This isn't a bad thing per se. I'm, likely, only a couple of years away from becoming a Williamson County resident but driving up and down 65 isn't always pleasant and I prefer to stay in the city for my shopping needs but some things can't be avoided. Where was I? Oh, right. Framing. Brentwood. I've only come to this location for big gun framing: Bar membership, diplomas and a limited edition signed print that hangs in my living room. Each time I came in, I spent an inordinate amount of time with a framing clerk -- because of me, not them. I have a lot of creative ability. This ability does not extend to art and/or decoration. I know what looks good but I don't know how to achieve it. The folks who work here know what they're doing. Of particular note, my living room artwork framing job is a slam dunk. Granted, it took two associates and two of the customers in line with me to come up with the color scheme and layer pattern but the end result is fantastic. Not only do I get a lot of joy looking at it, it ties the room together and my guests all comment on it. No, it wasn't cheap but it was well worth the money, I wasn't upsold and Michaels has all manner of coupons and discounts to aid in the purchase price. If you're doling out money for a nice frame, odds are you're spending the money because the piece you're framing matters to you. Prove it by spending the money. It's an investment in you, your property and whatever memory/achievement you're choosing to commemorate and broadcast. It should be worth it. When it comes to framing, short of developing a personal professional relationship with a framer, I can't imagine going anywhere else... even if I have to drive. read more

Normally I would give a good review. Here's the real reason why I rated a (1) star. In my most honest and sincere opinion. This is the (WORST) Michael's Store ever. (Management) at the Brentwood location is terrible. Its really bad. I mean extremely very bad. Be aware when shopping at this location. (Management) is so (UPTIGHT). Especially when it comes to getting (Discounts) or use of (Coupons) on your purchases. I can't even go back to this location. Due to (Management). Also the store itself is way too small. Everything is crammed up in small tight spaces. You can't really find what you're looking for. This store carries less products. Please be advised and aware of the consequences. If you have any problems with (Management). Corporate for some unknown reason. Does not respond to complaints whatsoever. Which is not good. I don't see how this company is still in business. read more

This Michaels location has just gone down so much recently. Inventory is out of stock; they change what they carry; candle scents change to awful ones. My last bit of frustration was their recent "lowest price of the season" sale - in previous years there was a good amount of inventory and variety. This year there was next to nothing in what I usually purchase using the sale. It's like they are just trying to draw customers in for the sale items then when the sale items aren't there, hope the customers will buy the more expensive items. Very disappointing. read more

I typically have a positive experience here in the framing department but unfortunately that has changed. The framing staff was very un accommodating and refusing to help just so I would be forced to purchase one of they're over priced custom frames. Ridiculous. I will never be going back to Michaels again. I would rather my money go to a local shop than a big box store that has poor customer service. read more
