Michelle Gordon-Canning quite simply saved my life…read more On April 10. 2017, I was a patient at Kindred/Smith Ranch Road Rehabilitation Center. This was Michelle Gordon-Canning, PA's, last day at the Smith Ranch Road facility assisting the great and so good Dr. Evelyn Hakagama...moving on to a new job specializing in cardiac care, her chosen path, at Sutter Hospital, Oakland, CA. Many thank you's later and. of course, the old joke "Well, I hope I never see you again..haha." She had come by just to wish me well, being the consummate professional, yet genuinely warm, caring person that she most surely is I was to have gone home in a few days. I was sitting in a wheelchair and had just finished eating my lunch (the food at this Kindred is excellent) when nurse Eilen Hericot came in to take my vital signs when a patient down the hall called for help. She responded, leaving the equipment in my room. Returning, she thought I was on the phone so she went to the front desk, coming back shortly finding me with what was a CARDIAC ARREST. She immediately called out for help, 911, blue light flashing, etc. ..Immediately, Eilen started CPR and another CNA, Michael Shipe came in and I was told Michelle Gordon-Canning ran down the hall. She immediately went to work, having had TEN years experience as an EMT. Lucky me, right?! I was also told she had my head in her lap instructing the other nurses, CNAs and monitoring the staff working on me until the Kaiser EMTs came to take me to Kaiser (I am not a member) a short distance down the road, where another fine bunch of doctors and nurses proceeded to incubate me and whatever they all did and do so well...bringing me back to life again...April 10, 2017. On this date, one year later, my first birthday really... I wanted so much to thank Michelle but I didn't know how or where to find her. I wasn't sure of anything. I remembered Sutter and cardiac, her chosen career. I wasn't sure of her name or the spelling of Dr. Evelyn's surname. I had written their names down in notes I kept of that experience. Where are those notes? At long last, I FINALLY found the notes TONIGHT...believe it or not. Computer...I typed in their names and VOILA, I found them, 16 months later. I was told that the facility had changed its name...(now called Kindred Transistional Care and Rehbilitation Center - Smith Ranch, San Rafael. Hopefully, same staff.) There is not a day, sometimes several times a day, wondering how I could find her, and that I don't think of this event and the good, kind, very smart Michelle Gordon-Canning and all the staff at Kindred Smith Ranch Road and Kaiser....with so much gratitude and the greatest respect. Sometimes words fail. (A lot of words though.)

I received the best examination of my life. Extremely knowledgeable and went that extra mile for…read moreme. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Rosenfeld and his team have been incredibly amazing to my daughter Lauren and I. We moved out…read moreto California from Florida on a high recommendation from my daughters cardiologist from back home. We had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Rosenfeld even before we were able to secure health insurance. He made us feel very comfortable and even helped me understand the issues my daughter was having. I've always known she's had a heart condition but he took the time to draw out her specific issues and really make me understand. Lauren's condition was far from stable at one point even to the point of transplantation. Dr. Rosenfeld was with Lauren every step of the way. Without fail, he had been there for her all the way always giving his 100%. As a mom, being constantly emotional, he was always supportive. He always took time for us, never rushing us even when it was the slightest issues she was encountering. He was always understanding of my feelings no matter what was going on. At times, it was nothing more than a mere cold or sinus infection but he still took time to see us. I guess you can say he has the most amazing bedside manner. Today, our last visit prior to our move, he has given us the name of two doctors that Lauren will see once we move back home. Planning ahead and making sure we are well prepared for our move, including medications, appointment set up and contact info along with our medical records to hand deliver, that's the kind of doctor we were lucky to have. We have been blessed. Thank you Dr. Rosenfeld!!

We have been being cared for by Howard for almost 20 years now.  I don't think I will ever be able…read moreto fully express my gratitude for being matched with Howard.  His calm, chill, confident, straightforward yet caring demeanor has been so well received by my son over the years.   At an early age, he started talking directly to my son versus to us as the parents.   This allowed our son to start taking control of his journey with heart disease.   His expertise in his field has been instrumental in guiding our decisions over the years. He was present during our son's surgeries and was a strong advocate for him.  He has a way about him that is calming to all of us.  When our son was in a bad mental space preceding his 2nd surgery, it was Howard who spent an hour with him, was able to get through to him and got him ready to face what was ahead.  He was a lifesaver.   Howard has always been available to us for anything.  Even now when we have been transferred to adult cardiology,  Howard has been with us through the transition.  He has continued to spend time with our son in order to help guide his next decisions.  Howard is a special man.  He has so much experience and knowledge.  He listens and truly cares. And he's a cool cat to boot!  If there were 10 stars to give, I'd give them all in a heartbeat (pun intended).
