I'm writing this review because I'm really irritated by the lack of communication between their assistants. I called a month ago to book an appointment for my bf to see Dr. Yung for a cleaning, the appointment was supposed to be tomorrow Wednesday the 23rd. After receiving a voicemail from one of his assistants named Lisa last Friday, I called back the same day to confirm the appointment but spoke to someone else. The next day I receive another voicemail from Lisa asking me to confirm the appointment, I didn't bother calling back because I figured she probably didn't see the confirmation I've given the other assistant. Then this morning I see yet another missed call and voicemail from Lisa, asking to confirm the appointment. I immediately called back and the call was picked up by someone else again, I told her that Lisa called me numerous times to confirm an appointment that I have already confirmed for tomorrow at 11am. She tells me yes it is confirmed and everything is set. 3 hours later, I receive yet another phone call from Dr. Yung's office, I pick up and it's Lisa again, she tells me that Dr Yung won't be in the office tomorrow because he has called in sick. I was confused. Why didn't his other assistant tell me this morning? I didn't even want to bother complaining because I was busy. So I give her my bf's phone number for her to reschedule with him, which basically defeated the purpose of me calling in the first place so he doesn't have to bother with it. My bf calls me back and says that he was rescheduled to May 14. MAY?! R u serious?! As friendly as doctor Yung and his staff are, this isn't acceptable. Canceling on a patient the day before then rescheduling them 2 months later when they have already waited a month is ridiculous. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Yung's since 2009 after a referral from a coworker. When I worked in Pasadena and he was an in-network dentist for my insurance, it was smooth sailing. However, when both of those things changed, so did my experience. I will say that my hygienist was always personable and great, I never left with any pain. Every doctor I met with including Dr. Yung was always professional and friendly. As some other Yelpers have noted however, there was a fair amount of upselling every time I came in, to get Invisalign or a power toothbrush. That didn't bother me as much as the fact that it seems this office takes very few PPO insurance plans. I already pay a premium to have PPO insurance, why would I want to pay additional money if I need anything other than a cleaning? The back office staff also is very vague about whether or not your insurance is in network. You should always do your own research as a patient, but I do think there's some ethical duty to let your patients know they will be hit with an out of network fee if any work is needed. They also won't tell you they only use the more expensive white fillings so once when I needed a filling, I was surprised to get a bill for over $200. Communication is best, and it seems they know they may lose patients if they communicate these issues. At the end of the day, the fact that this office is now not close for me plus the fact that I'd be out a lot of money if any work was needed made me switch. The clincher is that when I told the office staff that, they were rude, arguing with me that my last out of network exam and cleaning was covered. I get that this is a business, but you just lost a family of three because you won't take an insurance plan that almost every other dentist out there does, just to make some extra money. Dr. Yung has been my dentist since he opened his practice in Pasadena. Dr. Yung is a skilled and dedicated professional. He and his staff are always personable, helpful and positive. All of his hygienists and assistants are careful and thorough; I especially appreciate Florilyn for her patient and cheerful attitude. I recommend Dr. Yung and his office very highly. read more

Had a bad experience. Horrible customer service. They didn't want to go through the trouble of checking my insurance because it would take too long for them to call themselves, so I had to call myself. Not happy with staff. I guess they have enough business so they don't really care too much about being rude or not. Receptionist hung up on me. Not professional, in my opinion. Prices were also higher than other places I have been to. Had to pay extra at the time of my visit, and then got another bill in the mail for more. Wish they had told me beforehand that my insurance wasn't in their network. Plenty of other good dentists. Won't be going back. read more

I went to Dr.Yung for a second opinion after going to another dentist in the OC who told me I had a huge cavity and would need a root canal. That dentist refused to even do a temporary filling and quoted me a cost of $1500 which is ridiculous since I'm still looking for a job and have no income or insurance. I came across Dr.Yung on yelp and saw the good reviews and decided to get his advice. His office is in Arcade Lane and they validate the parking. He fit me into his very busy schedule and made me feel as relaxed as possible under the crappy conditions. He did also recommend a root canal (sucks) but I was more apt to take his advice as he doesn't do the procedure so he's not actually making a bunch of money off of it. He cleaned out the cavity and put in a temporary filling and gave me referrals to some dentists who do root canals. The estimate price of the canal? $800 compared to originally quoted from the first dentist I went to sounds much better. The next day he called to see how my tooth was feeling which I thought was really nice. I definitely recommend Dr. Yung, he seems like he's actually in it to be a dentist and not a businessman out to gouge people in pain. read more

Either you love this office or you don't. After many years of not seeing a dentist I finally went on yelp to search for one. Despite some negative reviews on yelp, I went to Dr. Yung. Reason was most negative reviews I read had to deal with insurance and money. Working in the medical field, I know how patients can get upset over copayments and insurance. My first visit was wonderful. I was greeted by the very nice receptionist. The first assistant I met and will always prefer for her to see me is Lisa. She is a very sweet person and walked me through everything. She didnt take my xrays but assisted the doctor in my exam. Both her and Dr. Yung knew how affraid I was and nervous to be there. And their patience and kindness made me feel like I was family. I was told at the end of my consultation that the office manager Norma would come in and go over my proposed treatment. I thought "Oh great! Here comes the worst part" I was not excited for her to come in to speak to me. Too my surprise, Norma was a very sweet and caring person. She did not go in and start talking money, but instead talked to me about the Dodgers (I was wearing a dodger shirt and she is a big dodger fan) I think the dodger talk and her sweetness made me forget why she was in there. Minutes later, the cost is explained to me and the procedure times and available appointments. She broke it down step by step. Best part was she did not make me feel like I was being pushed into paying anything up front. She made it very clear that it was only an estimate and that sometimes insurance companies will deny claims or pay less or more. I have been back for several appointments and I brag to all my coworkers about this office. I am very thankful to have found an office that treats you as family and not a piece of meat. They even called and emailed me after my appointments to see how I was doing. I highly recommend you see Dr. Yung and his hygienist Jahna ( I think thats how you spell it) She is beyond amazing. ok, so I got a bill today, called the office and spoke to Christy. She was very helpful and said she will resubmit it to my insurance since they denied it. Again, great customer service. read more

Yes, they are good dentists, but they do not care about your money. My insurance only covers one of the two dentists there- I have reiterated this to them multiple times, make an appointment with the covered dentist, and when I arrive he is "gone" so I have to see the other one who is not covered. Then they are always trying to fill "holes" that are not cavities, but one day (20 years from now??) they may be an issue?? I have zero cavities and have always taken care of my teeth, but this place is not worth visiting. Time to find a dentist office that isn't like a salesman and actually listens! read more

Dr. Yung and his staff were very kind and caring as well as professional It had been a couple years since I had seen a dentist and I have a big fear of needles. It was painless but I was still scared and Dr. Yung took his time, explained everything and made sure that I was Ok, even once, slowing down and giving me a minute to relax. It was all in my head that something awful was going to happen but it didn't I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a good dentist at reasonable prices, far more reasonable than what I paid another dentist in Los Angeles. I read some of the negative reviews and can't understand where they are coming from. I also want to give a shout out to Jason the dental hygenist who explained more to me about brushing and flossing than anyone had ever explained, even other dentists. This is a great group of professional people who truly love what they do and serve their clients well read more

I just moved out here from the S.F Bay Area and really needed to find a dentist. I found Dr. Yungs office on yelp and decided to look on their site for further information. I called and ever since my first appointment I have been treated very good. Everyone in the office is very personable from Norma at the front desk to Jason one of the hygienist. When you walk in they know your name and know what you're there for which makes you feel special. The staff here is really knowledgeable when it comes to the health of your teeth and aren't "money hungry" like so many other dentist out there. They take the time to explain things to you and make sure you are comfortable and understand what is being said/going on. Also, it's very clean, which is a major plus. It's not dark and you feel comfortable when you walk in. If you're looking for a dentist I highly recommend Dr. Yungs office. You won't be disappointed! read more
