I love this place. However, I must say, the Michael Kors in the 900 Shops is D-E-C-E-I-V-I-N-G. When you enter off the street, you are actually in their smaller boutique store and it's definitely more clothes/accessories oriented. If you're looking for the good stuff (you know, the BAGS) then leave that store, walk across the atrium and into THE MICHAEL KORS BAG MECCA! I wish I remembered the name of the sales associate helping us (long dark brown hair, you know who you are) but she was awesome. My sister and I came in with three boys (father, brother, my husband) who waited patiently while this gal complimented us on bag after bag after bag that we pined over until we found the perfect ones for us. Any respectable company *knows* and knows very well that the return process should go just as smoothly as the purchase. MK company doesn't and it was very disappointing. i never purchased from that specific store at 900 N michigan (the one next to Gucci), as i get MK mostly from dept stores or online retailers including their website. i had purchased a pair of sunglasses i liked at O'hare before my 10 day holiday trip for $165 (duty free). i traveled with them and wore them a few times to find out they were a hopeless case: they kept slipping down, the lenses were too heavy and the design was just faulty. i waited to land in the US to return them at that same store but MK weren't at the terminal. i called the # on their website asking about their return policy and they said they accept all returns within 30 days with receipt. i asked specifically if buying them from the airport would cause any issues and they boldly said NO. i still called the 900 N michigan store and spoke with a girl who **confirmed** i could return them within 30 days EVEN if i got them from the airport. i finally showed up today at 6pm and happened to be wearing a MK handbag, my usual MK snake wallet from Nordstrom AND an MK criss-cross tri tone ring. i showed the girl the sunglasses with the receipt and a guy approaches me and says "we don't accept returns of airport purchases, that's wholesale". i responded to him with the info i provided above, and instead of apologizing for MISLEADING me and providing me FALSE information TWICE over the phone, he lazily turned to the girl explaining to her how to do the refund. He then examines the glasses (there was makeup on them, it's not like i tried to clean them to make them appear like they're new because i have nothing to hide), and he says "those glasses have been worn !!!!". umm.. yeaa... duh that's why i am returning them: they are defective. "yea but they have been reaaaally worn a LOT ! Like...we can't re-sell them !!". You can't re-sell them ? i don't care if you can or can't, you are the ones who created a faulty pair of sunglasses, and you should apologize for it instead of saying non-sense. Who is this guy ? i never have to deal with such rudeness at Coach or Neiman or even Macy's. i told him to check the date on the receipt to explain to him that his assumption (which felt like an accusation) was simply stupid. He made this face and made me feel like my presence was unwelcome and my return was bothersome to them. The girl who was courteous at first, then became unfriendly. i still said thank you and left. But one thing is guaranteed: Not only will i never step in any MK store again, i will stop buying this brand altogether. You charge a lot of $ for your products, it's time to invest on training your employees to act like professionals. My aunt insisted on buying me a purse from Michael Kors. I felt silly as I am a grown woman and didn't feel comfortable accepting such an expensive gift, but she insisted and so I obliged. Fine, I'll take a MK purse! But a less expensive one, like a clutch. So, I come in this store with my mom and she is calling my aunt to meet up with us. We are immediately swarmed with employees, which is good. I value good customer service and like to be greeted when entering a store. However, once my mom mentioned what I was looking for it was game on for this employee. Like she would not leave me alone. If I touched anything for even a minute, she went on and on about how fabulous it is. Duh, it's fab, you want to sell it. I didn't mind this so much, but what really annoyed me was when my mom was trying on a pair of shoes, they didn't have her size and the pair she brought out were HUGE on her. Like, 3 inches of space between her foot and the straps. Somehow, the girl felt like she could still convince my mom to buy the shoes. I got up and walked out right then. This place just oozes smug. If you enter from the mall, you are greeted by a sign that essentially reads, "Hey, maybe you're looking for our "lifestyle" brand, you piece of low class scum." Well, perhaps not quite that blunt, but it really sets the tone for how you'll be treated the minute you walk through the door. No, I wasn't looking for the lifestyle brand - I was actually looking for items I saw from the coverage of the 2013 Fall runway show, but thanks for the friendly greeting! Upon entering the store, I saw two employees. One was on the phone, the other was poking at stock in the back. The woman on the phone turned around to look at me (eventually), gave me an up down, and proceeded to ignore that I was even in the store. The other employee came out of the back, gave me the up down, and actually just turned around and walked back into the stock room. Was I wearing awful clothing, you ask? The people at Max Mara didn't think so, since they spent an hour helping me try things on. The people at Hermès also didn't seem to have an issue...maybe jeans when you're traveling during Chicago's bitter winters just don't pass muster to the mighty dress code of the non-lifestyle brand Michael Kors store. One star for the security guard, who did say hello and seemed embarrassed by the behavior of the other employees. The stock was "meh." They didn't have a lot of the pieces I wanted to see on hand, including the higher end accessories. If you're a huge fan of MK runway, and want to have them order things for you, I'm sure they will. Just make sure you are coated in enough status items to get the staff to offer assistance. read more

I came in to this Michael Kors location to look at (and perhaps purchase) a particular watch. Unfortunately, they lost a sale. Two salespeople in the completely empty store, one on the phone having a personal conversation way too loudly, the other standing off to the side. I was waiting at the watch case for a solid five minutes, awaiting help, when it occurred to me that I could go to almost any department store, or even simply open up my computer, to buy this watch. To whom it may concern I purchased a Michael Kors Winter coat in December of.2020. From Burlington Coat factory. February of 202. I noticed Feathers were showing; as well as as bad stitching. I looked in detail. Noticing the inside coat. I'm Shocked it got worse and worse condition of coat. It was Poorly made and manufactured. From. China. The sewn areas are obviously coming apart. The silk polyester blend lining of the coat is separating from the threads The Feathers are showing more than I like to. Outside and inside. I have not had this coat 2 months. It's already ripping in the inside sleeves. Bottom of sides of coat. Front back inside. This is my first coat from this company. Im Not HAPPY AT ALL I don't know do I contact the store I bought it from or the factory that faster produced this item. It's terrible. I wish I could give NO STARS. How they treat the customer in this store is awful. The lady was so rude to us. Came because we wanted to size a watch, so she did and the watch was still a bit big. I asked what can we do because I bought the watch at the other Michael Kors branch. She said that we could not return it because she had sized it already. She did not say anything at first about this and she was so rude and disrespectful to us. The worst was that all the staff was looking at us and they did not say anything, they even looked to another way to not confront us. Came in to look at watches and bags on lunch and had questions on the watches because my current MK watch wore really bad in a short amount of time (for the cost) and was concerned about the quality and materials used in the others. I love Michael Kors. And the staff here fits well too. You don't walk in and get slobbered all over, or have some person hovering over you in your personal space. I've passed by to peruse on numerous occasions. Staff is always welcoming and friendly. In fact, they treat you like "real people." They make open conversation and make you feel pretty welcome in the store. They obviously know their product and it shows they're consumers of the store's products too. Stephanie helped me out today and she was very friendly. Accommodating, and also made helpful suggestions without being pushy. I'll definitely come back to have her help me next time. Even the other girl who worked here was helpful as well, conversating with me even though there were no other customers to attend to. No stuffiness. No snobbiness. Really friendly staff! This mall actually has 2 locations so if you think that the one you are in is kind of small..look across the hall next to Gucci because that's the big one. I went in to look at a watch for a Christmas gift suggestion for my boyfriend. Even though she knew I wasn't going to be purchasing it right then she still let me try them on and gave me input. I did feel A LITTLE slighted because when I turned around to make a comment/ask a question she had walked away from me and was chatting with a bunch of kids who walked in. I succumbed to temptation today--fortunately with a 25% off sale in progress--when I walked into Michael Kors. I was on the hunt for a light-colored (blush pink or light grey) leather jacket for spring and was about to head to Bloomingdale's to look as I have their credit card and can rack up my loyallist points. Walking past the storefront, a blush pink jacket caught my eye. Maybe it was the styling (layered over a full white eyelet skirt) or the clean, simple lines of the jacket in a season where so many of the jackets have hardware aplenty. I immediately asked the saleswoman if I could try it on in my size. As luck would have it, there was a small on the floor. It was roomier than I would have preferred so the saleswoman went to the back and pulled out a pristine (as in, plastic protectors still on the zippers) extra small for me to try. I am in love with my new jacket. In fact, I had to tear myself away from mentally composing outfits long enough to write this review on Yelp. I always thought this store skewed more to accessories but there is definitely more than meets the eye at this location. The selection, coupled with the superlative customer service, makes me a happy shopper. read more

There is a new way of doing business and Michael Kors is at the forefront location of not stocking stores with sizes and then requiring them to order the correct size from another BUT only after they charge the item on a credit card.Thus they create a float that charges the customers credit card to try on the correct size. When it takes weeks to receive the item and the 30 day return policy was put in to effect on the order date and the purchaser has a lesser amount of time to meet their policy. Ridiculous for a high end retailer to open company stores and then not stock with sizes. Michigan avenue store in Chicago is very adept at pushing the policy and rudely enforces. So there are actually 2 stores in this building. The first one is facing the street while the other one is further inside. A friend of mine from Brazil wanted me to buy a gold watch for his wife and had printed me up a picture of which one he wanted. However, they didn't have the one that he wanted but showed me some other ones that she might like and ended up with a watch that was even better than the one my friend wanted for the exact same price. I have always been a big fan of Michael Kors, but sometimes a bad experience can sour the whole thing. I walked in this store on Saturday with a bag I had purchased about six months ago. I explained to a young man working there that the bag has fallen apart in the short time that I have owned it with very evident stretches in the leather. He so rudely explained how MK is great quality and there is nothing he can do about it. His only suggestion was to bring it to a place where they fix leather. Instead, I went across the corridor to Kate Spade where I bought a beautiful new bag and received amazing customer service! read more

As far as luxury goes, this place knows how to treat a girl right. I wanted designer bottle of perfume for special occasions. Since the store is on the first floor, it's generally easy to see what's new in stock. I purchased a 1.7 ounce bottle of Amber. Kind of pricey for the amount of spray but that's what I expected here. They wrapped up my package in the cutest little bag which I happily showed off walking down Michigan Ave. The small staff here are nice, but did come across with a tad bit of attitude. I'd love to go back during their holiday sales and purchase a little hand clutch. read more

I bought a MK purse. After only a few uses, it really started to show wear, a lot of wear. I went into the store to see what the manager might do for me. The product was clearly inferior. The girl working in the store admitted this to me that this bag in this color has been a problem. The manager, Ashley, admitted it too. They said that they had a problem with the material in this color- that the leather absorbed everything. Yet despite this...the manager refused to do anything about this except to refer me to a repair place across the street to have it cleaned at my expense (which i did for $55- having no other option). She suggested that I try their (MK) cleaning product that they sell for $9.95. She didnt even offer to give me that. I was shocked by the bad customer service. I visited this store a few days ago and I cannot tell you how amazed I was by the customer service and the attentiveness from the store manager, Shelley, she was fantastic! Not only was she kind but she has great taste too. Both Shelley and Debra were so patient with us as my mom and I tried on several pairs of shoes. I really want to give 5 stars because I LOVE Michael Kors! After my visit to this store on Saturday I think I need to just go here to look and then make my purchase somewhere else. I was here in December and the staff seemed friendly but I think it's only because I purchased a few things. I was looking for a new vacation bag and stopped in on Saturday. I had nobody ask if I needed help looking for something or ask of they could get a size in a pair of shoes/sandals. I looked around and saw plenty of cute things that I wanted. I did not make a purchase and was not happy with my overall experience. I did end up purchasing a cute Mk bag at a nearby department store. I'm disappointed with my recent experience. I will probably stop in again in the future but I'm not sure I would make my purchases at this store. But to my surprise the staff was so friendly. Morgan was so helpful with my experience. I brought my purse in and they said they would send it in to get fixed it was a purse worth over 430.00 they sent it in and it took about 2 weeks to come back when it did it came back worse then i sent it out. At no time did they say they could not repair it she said they did. So I called customer service they told me for all my problems they would pay for me to ship it back again and they would replace or try to fix. Then they don't call or anything and send the purse back untouched this time. I tried talking to executive customer relations did get a very rude man who kept counterdicting everything i said instead of trying to help. He said he called shelley the manager and she said she told me it wasn't going to be able to be fixed she never said that to us. I feel they should just do as promised and replace this purse. Just a note when we went in Michigan ave store to pick up our purse we spent over 700. Shopped with my "fashion assistant" my 29 year old daughter for a Michael Kors watch I had had my eye on, for my birthday present. We were scooted out of the street side store at 900 North, but were immediately greeted warmly in the 1st floor inside. A fabulous young man, Carlin, was extremely personable and helped us make the perfect decision, midsize with subtle bling. Best service ever.
