He thoroughly arranged the necessary tests, including MRI, biopsy, and PSMA PET/CT, which led to a clear and timely diagnosis. Because I was concerned about the risk of infection, I specifically requested a transperineal (TP) biopsy, and Dr. Shinghal was very receptive and performed it without issue. I truly appreciated how he listened to my concerns and accommodated my request. After the cancer was confirmed, he took the time to clearly explain the available treatment options, discussing both the benefits and potential concerns of each. This helped me make an informed and confident decision about my treatment. His recommendation of Dr. Yao for surgery was excellent and made a meaningful difference in my overall care and outcome. Dr. Shinghal is professional, thoughtful, and genuinely patient-centered. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and trustworthy urologist.

I can not recommend Dr. Oberlin highly enough. He is very considerate, kind, and very sensitive to the specific needs of his patients. Dr. Oberlin took as much time as necessary to thoroughly discuss available surgery options and provide valuable insight regarding the appropriate procedure for each of his patients. Dr. Oberlin recognized my anxiety and did everything possible to minimize it, both before and after the surgery. Because the need for surgery occurred late in 2023, I was unable to get an appointment for the procedure until this year. Crystal, one of the staff who is truly an angel sent to Earth, saw to it that my catheter was changed frequently for cleanliness and to minimize the risk of infection. Everyone in the practice, from Dr. Oberlin, his assistant Danielle Shanahan, Crystal, the wonderful front office, and the scheduling team actually made me look forward to appointments. This includes post-surgery follow-up appointments. Huge mega kudos to the entire staff of Golden Gate Urology, Inc. Should you require the services of a urological practice, I can not conceive of a finer team who work as well together as Golden Gate Urology Inc.

However the patient himself only states that he gets up once or twice at night. In addition, the patient is not terribly bothered by his nocturia. (I showed my hand count 6 times on 10/8/2025 to Dr Barme, I stayed up to 3am, and count the rest with baby monitor alarm.) What's is the definition of bothersome? If it doesn't bother my dad, he doesn't need to get up. This is totally ridiculous to me. If my 92 years dad need my help to got to bathroom every single time at night, he should use diapers instead. He's still good mobility that's why he should seek for help. Finally, I paid for the subscription with video recordings and daily counts. I changed to SutterHealth Urology at Fremont (an hour drive). I showed the recording to new office and explained the situation. I only see PA. They trusted me. They made medication changed and add generic (low cost, not $600 Gemtesa) overactive bladder medicine. About 3 week, he get up 4 times recently and only REAL twice last night.

He had the best side manners when both my wife and I spoke to him about the transplant program. My transplant match exchange came through 2yrs later in 2016 and I've been 8yrs clear and doing well. There was an 18 month up and down period before stabilizing but since end of 2018, it's been been living on borrowed time. I was fortunate to have 3 or 4 friends volunteer to donate a kidney to me but all ended not the best candidates. On after transplant surgery and since that the pandemic, I have been lucky to have follow-up semi-annual video visits with Dr Katznelson on half the visits. He is always so positive at each visit. He treated me like a moron, didn't listen, and didn't solve my problem. So he only gets 2 stars. I was born with my right ureter through a muscle, which caused many kidney infections as a child. The local doctor misdiagnosed this as backwash. Luckily, my mom persevered and got a correct diagnosis and I was successfully operated on when I was 6. Last year (at 28), I had 3 kidney infections within 6 months. I thought this was a problem, so I starting the slow path through the insurance and doctoral hoops until I finally got to a urologist, who had a test done, which revealed that (surprise surprise) my right kidney had reduced functioning. He said this was likely due to scar tissue from the childhood operation, and could be fixed easily enough. Unfortunately, I moved to SF before we could get on with the fixing. The old urologist recommended Dr. Rosenberg here in SF, and I immediately made an appointment in hopes that we could start out where I had left off with other urologist. I brought with me my chart from the other urologist, including the results of the kidney function test. I wrote down my whole history in their "new patient" forms, and then told it all to Dr. Rosenberg. He pretended to listen, and then proceeded with the generally uncomfortable process of manually exploring my urinary tract. Below is a small excerpt of the frustrating conversation that ensued: Dr: It's probably backwash. Me: Actually, that is what I was misdiagnosed with as a child. Dr: Hmm. So, where's your scar? Me: On my lower abdomen. (Dr. examines scar on lower abdomen) Dr: Well, that is not where the scar should be, if the operation was what you said. It should be up here on your side. (Dr. proceeds to physically turn me and search for a scar on my side. Like there really might be a scar there that I had not noticed in the past quarter century. Like maybe I got a long thin scar on my lower abdomen through some other childhood scrape, like, I dunno, falling off a bike, and that distracted me from the REAL surgery scar on my side, unnoticed by me until the astute Dr. pointed it out.) Me: Um, no, I am sure I don't have a scar on my side. I don't know exactly how they did the operation, but I know it was my ureter through a muscle. Dr. (giving up on searching for the elusive side scar, but with no explanation as to the actual scar on my lower abdomen): Couldn't have been. It's probably backwash. If you have backwash, go to Dr. Rosenberg. For any other problem and/or for an actual doagnosis, go elsewhere. I am.

Prostate cancer is in his family so needless to say we are worried. I waited a few days then called Dr Kaplan's office to see about getting an appointment. Dr. Kaplan's office said they did not receive the referral. I got their fax number and called our doctor back. I confirmed the fax number with our doctor, and confirmed they did send the referral over and gave me the exact date they sent it. I asked my doctor to resend referral again just to make sure which they did when I was on the phone with them. I waited a few more days and then called Dr Kaplan's office back again. We are really worried and wanting to get this going especially if there is cancer. Dr Kaplan's office said they still did not receive the referral. They wanted me to confirm that I had their correct fax number which I did. Dr Kaplan's wanted me to call our doctor back again. I asked if Dr Kaplan's office could just call our doctor to get this resolved. And Jason at Dr Kaplan's told me that he could not make these type of phone calls he only makes appointments. So, I asked if someone else in the office could call our doctor - he said No. I asked "you are telling me no one from Dr Kaplan's office can make a phone call to another doctor's office" Dr Kaplan's office (Jason) said No. Dr Kaplan's office (Jason) said he has a backline fax number I could give to my doctor. I feel that they just do not care and if there is something really wrong with my husband I don't want to deal with a doctor who has this lack of customer service. I felt like they don't care and there was no urgency - I guess they have enough business, so they don't give a *%it. Anyway, end of story is that with just an important life and death stakes we asked for a new referral to a different doctor.

His demeanor and confidence gave me the assurance that everything would be okay. Six weeks later, I'm happy to share that my CT scan is clear and there is no sign of the disease. Dr Kaplan has had extensive experience using the robotic technique for nephrectomies and my recovery demonstrates how excellent of a surgeon he is. I'm already back in the gym and feel fantastic.
