This doctor is a quack. I was told that Worker's Comp would be paying this doctor $3500 A DAY! Yes, I said A DAY, for me to be in his detox program. I'm not a drug addict but they said because of my impeding birthday (going to be 60 yrs old) that I was going to die unless I was taken off of fentanyl. I asked upon my 6 hour intake or was it longer... if I wanted to get out of this program on my own could I leave. I was told yes, you can leave any time you want to. Ok, so a week into the Arbor Hills Nursing home where he had an IV in my arm the entire time to detox me I was finally told that I would be going to his facility to work out. Huh? Work out? I had chronic back pain from a serious accident when I was in my 20's and I was now supposed to be without pain pills and have to get on a bike to work out, do floor exercises, etc.
The third floor work out room was extremely cold. The person who was Dr. Duffy's helper, Becky, said she would help me whenever I needed help. Becky came up to the third floor and saw me laying on a workout yoga mat underneath the kitchen bar overhang and started yelling at me. "OH NO!" You cannot be on the floor, you need to get up from there. At that point I decided this place was not for me. I told my shadow (person who is hired for $10 or less to follow me everywhere in case I happen to find some illegal drugs or person to supply them to me) that I would be leaving the program. Although they tried saying to me, Don't leave because of Becky, I said I'm sorry I can't take this type of treatment anymore. I asked for my belongings which I had taken there that morning from the nursing home. One of those items was my 17" Macbook Pro computer, purse, cellphone, cardigan, etc. and my collapsible cart in which I toted everything due to the weight.
Dr. Duffy said he wanted to "talk" to me, he had me go down to his first floor conference room. My shadow was right behind me. He told her to stay out and closed the door on her face. With his 6'5," 300 pound body leaning against the door he started yelling at me saying that I was a demanding person as well as other obscenities. I was in shock to be treated this way by him. I asked him to please let me out of this room and that I wanted to leave his program. Although, I said nothing to him at the end of his tirade he said, "you're welcome to come back to the program later when you're ready." OMG, why would I ever want to go back there?
Once I was given my possessions again, I asked the parking lot manager if they were going to take me back to the nursing home to get my other personal items and take me home. At the beginning of the program they acted real nice and brought me from my home to the nursing home in La Mesa and eventually to his downtown office to workout. I was shocked when the parking lot manager said that he checked with Dr. Duffy and he was told to tell me that I could take the bus home and the bus stop was right there on the corner. OMG, from downtown to my home is about 17 miles, what bus do I take? I took my possessions, walked out to the sidewalk and right behind me a minute later were his thugs. He sent his office manager who wears high heels thinking she's a teenager but she's over 70 years old and the parking lot manager to haul me back into his office. I saw this as a sign of retaliation/aggression on their part and I tried to run for it. The street where their building is uphill so it was extremely hard for me to run up the sidewalk. I tried to get some help from the local store next door, however, by then these thugs had already called the police on me saying that I was crazy and that they needed to come get me.
I ran (safely) when no cars were nearby across the street and two blocks over to Beech St. when the old biddy thug pushed me to cause bodily harm against the street controller box. When the police came, she admitted doing that. The office staff had written a few lines on a paper trumping up the situation to say that I was 5150 and needed mental evaluation on a three day lockup at a mental facility!!! OMG, I told the police that this was not right and that what they said wasn't true. However, based on Dr. Duffy's letter I was taken away and locked up on a 5150 charge. Now, my civil rights to own or use a gun have been taken away. The 5150 charge has been put on my personal record. Anyone doing a background check will see that also. This was "false reporting" and this doctor needs to be help accountable for his actions.
IF you value your life, or those of your loved ones, PLEASE do not take them there. This doctor is just into making big money for each day that you are in his care. Why would you trust an animal like this?
His 4 apartments that he rents at the Luxury Avalon Apartments are two bedroom apartments and they put two patients in there (could be male & female) but as he is getting $3500 A DAY from each one it defrays his $3000 monthly rent on each apartment. read more
