I injured myself 3 years ago and I was never able to recover. I saw a physical therapist, but I was not consistent with my exercises. Highly recommend The Quad and Jenn's training to anyone! Since our 15 year old son has not been able to play school sports during the pandemic, we turned to one on one personal training with Jenn at The Quad. Our son went 3 times per week for one month and he is in the best shape of his life! We've had other trainers but no comparison to Jenn. She is so upbeat, smart and most importantly an educator. She puts a real plan together after the initial assessment. My teenager has way better posture, stronger muscles and core, increased stamina, great self esteem and overall very happy about how his body has changed in just one month. Somehow in my late 30s I found myself over-scheduled, seriously under-active, and unhappy with my body and state of mind. After trying several gyms in the city, but finding them overcrowded and intimidating, I finally stumbled upon Michael Krick. I have been under his care for about 9 months and guess what? EVERYTHING IS CHANGING FOR THE BETTER! I cannot emphasis this enough- my body is stronger and more flexible, I am making better choices about food and sleep (without feeling like I am sacrificing), and my overall mental outlook has dramatically improved. I think of our relationship as being "under his care" instead of "training with," because, he takes a holistic approach to helping achieve goals. My goals - which are probably similar to yours if you are reading this, are to look and feel nothing less than amazing. Michael's approach with me has been spot on: to be realistic about the things I cannot change, and to guide teeny, tiny changes to habits that when put together, make a huge difference in my life and body. For instance: * I work and go to law school -- so sometimes, sleep is more important than hitting the gym, and he practically prescribes this, knowing that the workouts will be better the following week; * I like to drink wine -- so he educates me about how it effects the body physically, while recognizing that realistically, I'm not going to cut it out (and I don't want to feel bad about it or not be honest with him), so now I make sure to have a meal when I have a glass and to get extra B vitamins. * I don't really have a good exercise plan without him - so we talk about it and come up with a plan that I can execute before I see him again. As for the physical training, he uses combinations of yoga, weight training, resistance training, and short cardio bursts that require some concentration, coordination and balance (which I'm still working on!) and every time it is different. I'm not going to lie, sometimes its really hard during the session. However, without fail when we are done, I feel great because I pushed myself hard (he won't push you harder than you can handle) and succeeded, and like, I am able to take on the day. For Visitors: You will not find this level of training in virtually any part of the world. Consider an assessment with Michael a MUST. I am a former professional athlete and personal trainer. I relocated to Marin from Aspen, CO one year ago. Moving my personal training practice here meant finding a new place to train clients. This might sound like an easy thing to do in Marin, given the number of gyms and fitness centers you find here. However, the specialized form of functional training that I practice requires a different type of environment and equipment. It also requires room for clients to move through space, which means that most of the equipment you find in gyms and fitness centers is simply in the way. The second you walk into KrickFit you know that you have arrived at a place that offers a high-level fitness experience and I knew I wanted to work out there. After meeting Michael it was clear that he was the real deal and someone who I wanted to work with. I scheduled an assessment with him, and was blown away! Let me tell you about myself, and why I came to Michael Krick. I have always enjoyed working out, but on my own terms (hiking, surfing, stand up paddling, cycling, soccer, etc). But over the last 10 years, leading into my late 30's, I have been injured (broken L collarbone, broken L wrist, broken LH knuckles, nerve entrapment L, destroyed tendon in L elbow); my left side has gotten clearly weaker than my right. Everyone deserves a coach like Jenn! I was in a big exercise/wellness rut before coming to train with Jenn at KrickFit - not exercising, not eating well, and not being good to my body generally. Michael Krick has changed my life. Three months ago, after years of chronic back and shoulder pain due to various injuries, and after months of encouragement by my chiropractor to start a strength-training program, I decided to take the plunge and try personal training. I walked into KrickFit with four goals written on an index card. Eight weeks later, three of those had been met. (The fourth goal is long-term and already improving.) I no longer wake up with back pain. I have regained significant use of my right shoulder. I can walk my hands on the floor -- something I have never been able to do. And the unexpected bonus: I have gained a trusted friend. After first meeting with me one-on-one to understand my health history and current lifestyle, Michael took my training objectives and developed a strategic and tactical program to reach them. He conducted a physical assessment to measure my overall strength, stability, and flexibility, as well as my posture (e.g., head carriage, pelvic tilt, thoracic and lumbar curves). He then created my workout plan: we do two strength-training sessions together each week (one lower-body and one upper-body), and I do three cardio days plus stretch workouts at home. Each training session is new -- he constantly mixes things up to keep it interesting and progressing. And he pushes me. He knows when I've reached my real limit and when I've just given up, always with the right words of encouragement. I have been most impressed with his focus on correct technique. Because of my injuries, I tend to over-compensate and get out of line, etc. He has taught me to notice when and what I am doing wrong and how to do it right. With his guidance, all of my posture measurements improved from outside to well-within the normal limits. My back pain is virtually non-existent; I now see my chiropractor for maintenance only. I can deadlift the weight of my children combined. And I can (almost) beat my ridiculously fit husband up a 120-stair sprint. One final note: Michael is a great confidant. Having worked with a few different trainers and gone to a number of boot camps and classes, Michael is definitely one of the best trainers I have worked with. He has an integrative approach to training that includes nutrition, sleep schedule, recovery from injuries, preventative work, strength, flexibility, cardio, and high intensity workouts. I have been training with Michael for 9 months now, and it's been intense, but a good kind of intensity. I've had the pleasure of working with Michael for the past couple of months. I was looking to work with a personal trainer - someone who could help me figure out how to strengthen my body without hurting myself. Michael has really been amazing. He did an initial assessment to figure out any imbalances and what my baseline strength, agility and flexibility were. Since then, I've worked with him twice weekly. My sessions are individually tailored based on what he found in the initial assessment and based on my progress. Each session is challenging yet safe. During the work out Michael watches closely to make sure my form is correct and to watch for my bodies tendencies to compensate. He creates accountability which is key for me - someone who is checking in to see how I'm moving my body and stretching (homework) outside of our sessions together. Michael is an overall great trainer. Ive been training with him for about two years and have had nothing but positive experiences and noticeable results across the board. He has an extensive knowledge of body mechanics and readily tailors workouts to what his client is currently capable of and where they want to be. Workouts are always varied and he makes sure to follow a plan of progression that is both sensible and challenging, focused on long-term health as oppopsed to superficial results. If I have specific requests or adjustments I want to make, he works it in. What I appreciate the most about Michael as a trainer is his subtle effectiveness; he's not an in-your-face drill sargeant but will still push you to your edge without going overboard.
