DO NOT GO HERE! I had called prior to see if my issue could be addressed at their facility with physical therapy, they said yes so I went ahead and booked. (Private pay). After meeting with the Physical Therapist for about 15-20 minutes she told me she could not help with my current issue and I would need to go elsewhere. They still made me PAY for the entire initial visit cost even though I only met with the PT for a few minutes to hear she cannot help me. I am VERY disappointed. Such a waste of money!!! read more

The two people supposedly there to help didn't listen to me about why was going on with my lower back kept trying to tell them this something new that has happened. I can't say enough great things about Angie and the rest of the Folsom Physical Therapy Staff. I have had multiple back surgeries including 2 lumbar disc fusions. The Injuries also caused nerve damage which resulted in loss of feeling and strength in my right foot and leg. I have done a lot physical therapy directly through the hospital but was not seeing improvement. My pain management doctor referred me to FPT and spoke very highly of them. I will never go to Physical Therapy through the hospital again. There is a HUGE difference. Angie has been amazing from the start, when I came to FPT I was not in too good of shape. Angie helped me get stronger but also taught me better ways to do things in my day to day life to control my pain. Down to coming out to my car to help adjust me seating properly so I'm not irritating my back while driving. They let you workout with the equipment in their gym even if you don't have an appointment, which is very helpful. Right as I started to get going COVID-19 and the stay at home orders went into place. I was shocked when Angie called me to let me know she was bringing the equipment I needed to my house to use while Covid orders were in place. Angie worked with me over video during this time and even showed my wife how to do the cupping massage. Angie and the FPT staff have a lot of knowledge, specialized equipment but most of all they care about your health. Angie has gone above and beyond to help and I can't thank her enough, she truly cares! I have a long way to go but I am seeing progress thanks to Angie and FPT. read more

I wanted to share my disappointing experience in hopes of helping someone else avoid this from happening to them. I wanted to start by saying that I was very excited to go here and have a Physical therapist guide me through the right exercises, however I wasn't able to because of unjust treatment I received just to sign up. I was told that to sign up for the gym, I need to have an initial exam with a physical therapist. I scheduled an initial exam which I was informed that also includes a tour of the machines and paid out of pocket $195. Unfortunately after my exam, Tim, the physical therapist told me he couldn't show me the machines because there were members present which seemed odd because there are always members present, and I was told to call back after two weeks to sign up and schedule to complete the tour. When I got to the receptionist, I was asked if I want to sign up, which I did want to, but I told her that the physical therapist who examined me had told me to wait two weeks before signing up. Two weeks passed, and I called to schedule the tour and was told that I had to pay $125 because I am using the physical therapist's Time, at which time I explained that the tour was supposed to be included in the initial exam which I paid for with cash and that it was not supposed to be a separate charge. It was the physical therapist who ended the initial exam early. I decided to schedule another whole initial exam with Michael, another physical therapist, since I no longer trusted the one I had before and wanted to start fresh and have the tour, so the receptionist scheduled me with Michael, only to call me back two days later and say that I had to continue with Tim, my original physical therapist, which did not make sense to me, and I knew that my friend who recommended this place has changed physical therapist (if/when he had more pains and aches and needed an exam) without any trouble in the past. My appointment with Michael got canceled. After all of these I received an email about their new policy that an initial exam would not guarantee being able to sign up right away because more evaluation may be needed beforehand. However I was made to wait two weeks after my initial exam before this was emailed out and was told to spend more money for a tour that was supposed to be included in the initial exam. My experience was that they want to prolong the sign up process while charging for things that were already paid for and making new rules as they go without any integrity. read more

I had major back surget about 2 years ago. The surgery was a miracle (UCD) but I needed to re-build my strength after years of not being able to do really much physical activity at all. Went to FPT about a year ago. Have been going regularly over the year to both one-on-one help and group sessions. Several months ago I walked 7-1/2 miles around the Yosemite Valley in one day and over 25 miles for the 4 days I was there. Not bad for an old(er) guy! Love the place! Great help. Frendly and ready to offer help/support from both staff and members. The monthly fee is over-the-top worth it. I mean like it's inexpensive - check it out. There are days that I just don't want to go.....but go because of the benefits I get out of it. I am doing things now I thought were gone from my life. Stop by and just check the place out. See what they offer. Watch a workout session. Talk to some of the members. That's what I did about a year ago..... (The only reason I gave it a 5 star, there wasn't a 10 star rating.) read more

If given a choice, I won't go to any other physical therapy clinic. This clinic is well known for their expertise and knowledge. They hold classes in which they teach other physical therapists, and have been doing so for years. In fact when my husband at the time was injured at work, my mother (a physical therapist) told him to "go to Folsom Physical Therapy, they teach all the other physical therapists!" I have been a patient myself on and off for over 20 years, and have been seen by Tim (one of the owners) as well as by Angie for a variety of ailments. I've had improvement always, and if a certain test or doctor has been recommended, I always know it's exactly what I need. I've also participated in their "back classes", which are held several days and times throughout the week. What a great way to keep up with training & exercise in order to prevent further injury or a recurrence of the old problem. These classes are lead by physical therapists, who can correct an inaccurate position as well as inspire me to push harder. Back Class is offered at a variety of levels, and of course modifications are given for patients with specific injuries that might preclude a particular exercise. Want a toned core? This is the place to get one! I would trust any of the P.T.'s at Folsom Physical Therapy. The owners, Michael and Tim, demand excellence in their therapists, and work with newer therapists to tutor them in techniques to ensure this excellence. After having a total knee replacement on my right knee, I really had no idea about the rehab. I thought a Couple of days in bed and I am good to go. WRONG. I picked this place as it's close to my house. I had no idea how awesome this place was going there be. Christina has been my personal PT and she is wonderful. She is tough but kind and that is just what I needed. She is maybe 110 lbs and I am 6'4" tall and 245. She would crank on my knee and yet made it feel good after Our sessions. There staff (Gail) is wonderful and on top of there game. My time is coming to a end and will miss them all. I am super close to full mobility and the pain is subsiding. I highly recommend this place and the help they have provided. I will have full range of motion and be better than when this hole process started. read more

So I was having a lot of problems with my neck. I would wake up and could hardly move it from left to right. I have one shoulder replacement I need the other shoulder replaced so I completely attributed it to that. I believe the woman I went to goes by the name Christina very very nice. I believe there's two Christinas there I just know that she has a farm and chickens. LOL anyways she asked for me to bring in my pillow which I did and I found out all this time I was sleeping incorrectly. She told me how to position my pillow. Who would've imagined that there is a proper way to position your pillow! Ever since I went to her and learned the proper way to use my pillow I have never had a problem with my neck/shoulder again. They should wear masks, as I believe them to be thieves for what they charge. I only went in once, as they charged me $280.00 for my first one-hour appointment.....which is $4.67 per minute!!!!! I called and spoke with the physical therapist once I received the bill. She was sure an error had been made, as she thought the charges to be way too high. She thanked me for the call and promised to contact the billing department. The billing department followed up to threaten a bad mark on my credit rating if I did not pay promptly. What a waste of time and money. So disappointing. read more

I was in an accident in September 2018. My left shoulder, back and neck were hurt when my car was hit while I was stopped at a red light. I went to the Chiropractor and he helped me with my back and neck. After 6 months my shoulder didn't have the range of motion I once had. I almost gave up but luckily my lawyer sent me to a doctor that referred me to Folsom Physical Therapy. My main Therapist was Meghan and she organized what different movements and exercises I was to do. She was incredible and all the other therapists were equally qualified and professional. I was referred to FPT by friends to so call strenthen my core because of spinal issues. I was feeling on a level of 5 out of ten when Istarted the PT having been at a level of intense pain during the summer After an epidermal, my pain had been reduced over the succeeding months. I been the exercises provided by m FPT therapist but noticed growing pain every time I did the exercises. I explained this to my therapist who dismissed my concerns. After 10 days of following exercise protocol, I can barely walk. She set me back months. Other issues I wont go into here. read more

Good place. A couple things made them lose a star though..... First, I spoke with someone this morning who was less than helpful or friendly. She actually said "ya, whatever"... I would have found her lack of customer service skills offensive.. but it was, after all, 7:15 in the morning. I will give her a break just for that. I have been in once so far, and was evaluated by Rachel. She seems incredibly knowledgable. She poked and prodded in all the corrrect places, found the source of one of my pains almost instantly, and gave me excecises and stretches to do at home that are working rather well. What she doesn't do is make you feel more comfortable or give you a "warm fuzzy feeling". Maybe she's shy? As this is my frist try at PT, I guess I just expected it to me more of a friendly occasion. But I really do appreciate the exercises that help with my pain and I look foward to going back and learning more. read more

This is a great place for lymphedema treatment. They also have amazing exercise classes run by physical therapists who correct my form and help me get the most out of the class. This IS THE BEST physical therapy place I have visited since I had back injury and surgery in 2001. Besides their incredible staff that performs your initial treatment plan they offer a maintenance program in form of group exercise classes supervised by a certified therapist. Several classes are available every day for a very reasonable monthly price. Performing the cardio and core strengthening exercises regularly has kept me in reasonable shape and out of pain for several years now. read more

I have been here several times over the years, seeing Tim McGonigle. He is a very knowledgeable, considerate, and professional therapist. He listens to my complaints, acknowledges that I know my own body and its limits, and treats me with respect and looks for what will work for me and my specific body limits and/or strengths. I cannot recommend this physical therapy establishment enough. They have an innovative approach that is extremely effective and other pt's study under them to learn their approach. They offer groups exercise classes (although not during the pandemic), give individual exercises to be done at home and do extensive body work. Once again, the staff at Folsom Physical Therapy helped me through my pain and I made excellent progress! My first experience with this facility was in 2014 when I had hip pain. I saw Brigit Lim (then Moore) who worked with me both before and after my hip replacement surgery. Brigit was a compassionate therapist and was very patient with me during my post-op recovery. When I experienced left shoulder pain this past Fall 2018, I assumed it would just pass. When it persisted, I was told to seek physical therapy, and of course, I wanted to go back to Folsom Physical Therapy. To my good fortune, Brigit was still at the facility. Time had passed and she'd gotten married and had a child, but her wonderful "bedside manner" and skills helped me again! After a few sessions, it was evident to Brigit that I needed to be seen by an orthopedist. I visited Dr. Guilfoy and received a cortisone shot and was sent out for an MRI, as a tear was suspected. The MRI confirmed a partial tear, and the doctor suggested another injection, this one deeper into the bone, along with continued physical therapy. The goal was to avoid any surgery. I was seen by Brigit once a week and faithfully did my daily exercises. Brigit explained everything clearly, demonstrated all the maneuvers and as always, sent me home with her little stick figure drawings for future reference! She truly cares about her patients and for me, is the benchmark of what a therapist should be: kind, compassionate, intelligent, funny, and with high expectations for herself and her patients. Physical therapy doesn't end when you walk out the door, it's the responsibility of the patient to continue to exercise and follow the directions of the therapist and doctors. I highly recommend Folsom Physical Therapy and is the only place I will go for any future issues. The staff there is friendly and everyone I came into contact with, including the student therapists, were caring and professional. read more

Having known Michael Moore since my high school wrestling days, I had an initial sense of trepidation over my visit for treatment on my left knee. Would he make me perform calisthenics right off the bat? Instead, Michael took the time to give me a very thorough examination and interview, wanting to get to the root of the problem, which in my case was inflexibility in my thigh ligaments due to my office job. Tim's the man. No, but really. I've been battling a shoulder issue for three years now. I saw a few PTs before Tim correctly diagnosed me with a torn labrum. Then I finally went and got an MRI. The problem was just as he had guessed, and I got surgery shortly after. The PTs I had seen before Tim had sent me away with some simple exercises they thought would cure the problem. In contrast, Tim was incredibly thoughtful and thorough and spent the time needed with me to really find out what was going on in my shoulder. Since Tim, I've seen four other PTs because I no longer live near Folsom. And I've yet to encounter anyone with the same amount of expertise and skill. The only guy I've seen who has come close to Tim was a PT I visited on Tim's recommendation here in Washington DC. read more

This place is SO wonderful! My PT person is Christina, who is a fabulous person and an even better therapist. I had knee replacement surgery in late February. Do not believe the myth that you will be dancing in 4-6 weeks like when you were 19-NO!! I had a great surgeon, but I waited years before I finally did the surgery and that mistake left me very dibilitated. I had no hip muscle on the right side, I locked my knees with every step, and I was very weak muscled. My leg was like a log: wouldn't bend and could not straighten. Christina has done such incredible work, that I can now walk almost normally, my knee bends normally, and I have exercises targeted towards my needs. I see improvement week after week, and I look forward to going to PT! This place is just so awesome. If you are serious about fixing your problems, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!! Our family's first introduction to Folsom Physical Therapy was about twenty years ago when our son's high school football medical doctor recommended them to us. Our son saw Tim Mc Gonigle, who is one of the owners. After our son's successful care my husband, Dick and I would go there and Tim was always our therapist by request. We have found what makes Folsom Physical Therapy unique is their approach to each patient. You will not feel like a small fish in a big pond. It definitely is not a one size fits all approach. The consultation is quite lengthy and detailed and the visits thereafter are very personal. You feel genuinely cared for. Their approach is more gentle and gradual than any other office we have been to. So, they not only do no harm, but you arrive at a place of health and wholeness much quicker. Folsom Physical Therapy has been my family's go to center for aches and pains for nearly 25 years. I've lived all over the world and have seen physical therapists from Paris to San Francisco, and I've yet to find a staff as stellar as Folsom PT. SERIOUSLY, I now actually make trips home to go to PT when I have a problem. They've helped me get back to my sports quickly after injury - surfing, soccer, yoga, cycling -when several other PT's couldn't figure out a good plan. Their training classes are AWESOME ! These classes are great for all levels of fitness and I join whenever I am home for a visit. I even notice a difference in a few weeks in my level of fitness and ability. When I get back to the waves after having a week of Folsom PT training, my surf game is so on that my friends ask what I've been doing for non wave training because they want to try. I have had my share of Physical Therapy clinics, being one with a lombar 3 level fusion many yrs ago and a cervical fusion, not to mention a total knee replacement! Folsom Physical Therapy has been the ONLY PT clinic where I've seen a HUGE improvement in my pain level. They do a complete assessment of your issue and address it with their expertise. Other places will do 'ultra sound' heat pads, ice packs etc.. Not Folsom! They get you on their equipment, instruct you on how to use it effectively so you can 'build up' around the injured area while protecting it. Every time I do something I shouldn't be doing, I wind up going back there and Tim puts me right back on track. It's a place like no other in this entire area. Most of the medical community is familiar with them and have a great amount of respect for their success. It's a place I have recommended to so many of my friends. But it's also a place, you just have to go there as a patient and see it for yourself! read more
