Nc Miata soft top replacement by Miata Topworks

100% would recommend Miata Top Works . Theirry did a great job and I couldn't be any happier. The installation took around 4 hours and my Nc Miata looks good as new .

This review is a little late, but Thierry replaced the top in October 2023. I am 110% satisfied! He offered a great price on the soft top and the installation. I recommend him to anyone looking to have their soft top replaced. I dropped off the car to him around 9:30am and he was finished by 2pm the same day. It's been 2 months since the new top was installed and I have had 0 issues. If there are any issues, there is a warranty on labor and the soft top, so rest assured you'll be taken care of.

OEM used top and frame install. The work quality. Don't focus on my ride.

I was reluctant to use this place because it was in Sausalito. Thought it was going to cost more. I was so wrong. Terry is honest, friendly, reliable, fast, and, great price. Shows me why I needed another frame and even tracked a couple down for me to see if I was interested in any of them. He def. goes above and beyond to help me get my top useable again. Don't get those cheap Amazon tops like I did. Go with his recommendation. HE KNOWS BEST!!! See you with your new top and a NA wink by MIATATOPWORKS!

    No more hole!

It's rainy season again, and the poor disintegrating top on my new-to-me '04 Miata had a hole big enough to fit my entire head through! So, after skimming through the 7 hour YouTube installation videos and reading the thousands of horror stories online about how frustrating an install is and how LONG it takes to do it on your own without a lot of previous experience and/or friends to help, I knew immediately that it was not for me. The online Bay Area Miata communities all seem to unanimously recommend MiataTopWorks so I put the call in Wednesday afternoon. Thierry (owner) was super friendly and helpful, giving honest answers when I asked for recommendations (i.e. canvas vs vinyl, zippered vs non-zippered, etc) -- case in point, I was ready to pay for a new rain rail since you can't know how degraded the existing one is until you take everything apart and mine is over 20 years old, but he assured me that for my model year they used a different material for the rail and it would most likely not need to be replaced, saving me a couple hundred bucks (and spoiler: he was right!) After I decided on exactly which top I wanted, he said he would get back to me later in the day with a price quote after contacting his suppliers -- and then literally three minutes after hanging up he texts me with the quote! Long story short, Thierry installed my new Robbins Streamline canvas top this morning (Saturday, less than 3 full days since my original call) for an unbeatable price AND did a spectacularly amazing job! The top fits perfect and looks so much better than my raggedy old one that I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. He has all the tools and TONS of experience and it's quite obvious he enjoys what he does/cars/convertibles -- had some great conversations when dropping off the car. And on top of that, he finished the car faster than quoted (3 hours vs 4 hours). Top notch all the way around!! Side note: if you take your car to him in Sausalito like I did and don't know what to do while you wait, I recommend checking out the Bay Model Visitor's Center... it's about a 15-20 minute walk from his place, has free admission, and is a huge working scale model of the entire Bay Area watershed (complete with tides and everything), all the way from Pacifica up to the Sacramento Delta. I honestly didn't expect it to be all that interesting, but I was engrossed and fascinated enough that when Thierry's "finishing up!" text came two and a half-hours later, I thought it had been maybe 45 minutes, lol.

Thierry is the man! He guided me through what top to get to replace my sad, leaking top on my S2000 that was never quite right, and fixed my convertible top. The job was professional, and the car practically looks new. Would definitely have him fix my car in the future!

Excellent communication, pricing, and professionalism from Thierry! Extremely high quality work and parts used. My S2000 top looks like new again!

I have a 2004 Honda s2000 which after 11 years was developing many holes and tears. After reading Thierry's reviews, I decided to give him a call. He was very straight forward with pricing and quoted me $1350 for the cloth top, the vinyl was a little cheaper but i opted for the higher quality material. I felt it was fair for the amount of work needed to be done and after seeing his work and calculating that a Robbins top is already $700, the install is really only $650 which is a really good deal since Thierry will work around your schedule and come to you. Thierry's overall professionalism and desire for quality is typically not conveyed through these reviews, but in my experience everything he did was with the upmost care. Furthermore, Thierry does not skimp on cheap parts. For my replacement top, he purchased and brought to my house a Robbins cloth softtop which through my research is one of the best brands of soft tops for replacing an original s2000 soft top. Also Thierry provided me with the serial number for my soft top in case there are any warranty issues, I'll be able to contact Robbin's directly. The entire installation took just under 4 hours, during which I chatted with Thierry about his previous installations. He typically works on miatas but has performed over 40 s2000 soft tops and also does bmws. The guy really knows his stuff. I watched him for a little bit here and there and every step of the way he knew exactly what he was doing. Remember typically these installations for an inexperienced person typically takes 8 to 16 hours for an s2000. Please don't think he rushed, because he didn't. He made sure everything that was removed to access the soft top frame was replaced properly. When the new top was installed, it looked way better than the OEM. The fit is extremely tight, which i think is a good thing. Also, I've spayed on some 303 fabric guard to help with water proofing and UV protection before the rainy season. Not sure at this point if it will help significantly, but I figure it can't hurt. I highly recommend using Thierry, it's just not worth doing the installation yourself. There's so many things that can go wrong with fitting the top on and drilling into the bars. Wish I had another convertible so I could give more business to Thierry. Thanks so much Thierry!

Tierry replaced my damaged S2000 top this morning with the higher quality canvas top. He did an amazing job and completed the entire job in just 3.5 hours. It was very convenient as he came to my place and did the work there. I had a tough time getting to his garage because of my work schedule and he came to my place instead. He is super professional and very friendly. He is honest and competent. He knows what he is doing. Honda dealership Bills for 15 hours of labor for the same job and will keep the car for two full days!!! This guy did an incredible job in 3.5 hours. He is also very reasonably priced and fair. Don't waste your time calling anybody else.

Thierry took care of me today and replaced my soft top for a 95 Mazda Miata. He did the top 5 years ago but some loser cut my top and vandalized my car. Took him less than 3 hours. Great work and super reasonable prices. Quality product. Highly recommended! He also does his work mobile. He did a house call on a Sunday! Talk about convenience! I will recommend MiataTopWorks to anyone that needs a soft top!

It only took him roughly a day to get the installation done and was flexible on the pick up time as I was stuck in meetings when the installation completed. The installation of the seat was impeccable. Highly recommend it if you are looking to switching the factory cloth seat to leather. The comfort and the aesthetic of the seat instantly elevated to a new level. In addition, the cost is reasonable compared to other shops that I inquired (plus they are not in SF) There is a small follow up item to fix the broken seat release cable and Wally was nice enough to offer fixing it for free for me.

Apparently the outer "leather" of the car seating is not real leather and it's a known defect on Subarus. We dropped off the car in the morning and he texted as soon as it was done a few hours later. The area of the repair looked brand new. I initially had a hard time remembering where the tear was located! It was fun to see the piece of material he removed & how we could not tell it had even been changed out. Highly recommend coming here.

Literally his words, and he delivered on them completely. What set him apart was the depth he went to. He could've just wiped things down and called it a day, but instead he pulled the front seat out to find and clean milk residue that had seeped underneath the rubber mat. He used a leather soft-fill compound to repair a burn hole in the seat headrest and repainted it to match. He restored my foggy headlights until they looked factory fresh. He revived the faded exterior plastic trim. And through all of it, he kept me updated constantly, explaining exactly what he found, what he recommended, and why, with zero pressure. I really appreciate how communicative he is with his clients, it's one of my favorite things to look out for when trying out a business for the first time, and he delivered. His pricing is fair and transparent. That kind of integrity is rare. If your car needs love, take it to Paul. You won't regret it. I showed up to drop off my car extremely stressed out. It was one of those moments where I realized, yeah I haven't shown this car some love in yearsss, and I am happy I trusted Paul to bring it back to life!

On the blue section, and there was some over-spray and it has a yellowish green tint. It took him a few quick minutes to mix some dye and he didn't really spot check for match. I asked if he could match it better but he said it could make it worse. There was also over-spray. Frankie just blocks off the untouched spot by holding a piece of cardboard. It wasn't precision and care. Also, deep scratches could be sanded, smoothed and polished to match, but he doesn't go to this level of service. He just applies putty over it and lets you know it will leave a lump. However, the match on black was very good, almost perfect. But it felt rough due to the over-spray. Overall, I had expected a more precise hand polishing process and care for matching, but it was just quick spray paint. Deep scratches really didn't get resolved. The car is now a collectors item. I was hoping for a level of quality that matches the prestige. EDIT In response to the owner; I do not use Yelp much and do not write many reviews. But they are bad experiences that are memorable enough to share and I provided evidence (invoices and pictures) to support it. The owner's lack of accountability in his response should be a concern. I've had someone asking about his work the past few weeks (2025: 9 years later) and it prompted me to help this person and update the review and even tone it down a tad for the owner's benefit. 1 and 2. The pictures uploaded appear the same quality as the original but resized. Don't believe otherwise as the owner leads you to believe. Many of you have uploaded pictures and know this is is a lie. I believe Yelp will also dispute the owner on the quality of their site. 3. As for repairing scratches, I had no issues and mearly shared the level of service ($350 - in 2016 dollars) for the community, but the owner has a problem with me sharing it. 4. The car was just as pristine in 2016 as today 2025, 1,500 miles later. I have the invoices on the work, dated before Frankie's job. In fact, I should probably write a review on it since the owner seems to have a problem with me not writing good reviews, especially if it is redundant to many other good reviews. 5. The owner is lying about the date of the job and timing of my review. The job was done on 2/6/2016. My review was dated 5/7/2016. I moved away from the area June 2016 and was very busy with preparing for the move and finishing up my life there. 6. The owner claimed he could make it right, but as he mentioned during the job, he did not want to fix the mismatch. I had no reason to contact him further. I moved to a different area a few months later and had more important concerns than the owner's job and was fine with just writing a review. The owner needs to own it.
