Brought my VW here for a headliner replacement after enduring the infamous VW MkV sag for years. I considered replacing the headliner myself (it's basically a large, single part that comes out) but it was impossible to find a new one due to my car's age. (Also, replacing the headliner looks like a huge PITA). So as a birthday gift to myself, I took my car to Wally's to have it redone. He gave me a quote over the phone beforehand and I called two other places--one wanted 30% more (!) and another was a similar price to Wallys but on the far side of town. The job wasn't cheap but so worth it! Wally's did a great job overall, and finished it on time. So far--a few weeks in--everything seems good. The headliner is holding tight and I can drive with the windows down, with no fear of it flapping in the wind. :D I dropped off my car in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon, as promised. The color is a near-perfect match to the original--you'd only know it's a shade off if you saw the original, and I got to see and approve the color beforehand. There are a few small spots were the material isn't *perfectly* smooth but I suspect that's normal for this kind of work. (And it's glued on fine, just the same). The glue smells like a** for a few days but that goes away after a week or two...maybe sooner if you can keep your windows down. They don't take credit cards but you can pay with Venmo or Paypal (I think) and of course cash. I don't think I'll own the car another 10+ years but if I do, I suspect this new headliner from Wally's will still be holding up fine--better than the original!

These guys are great. Finished a job someone else couldn't do. Great prices and great customer service. I'm gonna come back to do more custom requests again in the future if they keep delivering. Jose was very friendly and accommodating as well and quick turnaround.

Wow! Wally's is wonderful. Jose is a true craftsman. He and his colleague did such a wonderful job reupholstering the headliner and columns of my classic, 2004 BMW. He helped me pick the fabric, quoted a fair price and did the work in just over a day. When the part of my sunroof broke due to age, he even ordered me a new piece. I am truly impressed by his work and highly recommend. It's also amazing how much can be redone in an older car, especially when it's one that you love so much. Thank you again Jose.

This outfit rocks big time!! Jose couldn't have been more accommodating, to say the least. We arrived mid-morning - an hour late of an earlier scheduled appointment - for a complete headliner re-upholster on our Volvo SUV. Thus, we were concerned about possibly having to re-schedule after making the long trip to the city. Nonetheless, Jose reassured us that he could finish by day's end - on a Friday no less! We killed time going out and about in San Fran for the day. Jose called about an hour and a half before their closing time of 5:30PM to say it would be ready in 1/2 hour. We were floored upon seeing the finished result! The workmanship was stellar and then some. The chosen fabric color looks so magnificent - like a new vehicle! The original quoted cost was more than reasonable and well worth it. We plan to contract them to re-upholster the leather seats as well. The vehicle is well maintained for a 17 year old model. However, the headliner had disintegrated and separated from water damage near the sunroof and windshield due to a previous sub-standard body shop repair. Wally's shop is the type I refer to as one of those "hole-in-the-wall" operations similar to that of a renowned, world class artist in a funky old art studio. They choose not to upstage themselves with glitz, slick advertising, or gimmicks. Their business approach is straight forward craftsmanship at a fair price - the way most customers prefer it. Kudos to Jose and the crew. Thanks again, guys. You knocked it out of the ball park! Donato Gato

I called Wally's after my headliner began to sag in my 2008 VW Rabbit. In the search of shops to replace the headliner, Wally's was the most reasonable price with the best reviews. On Google, (for some unexplainable reason) the reviews aren't the best, but trust Yelp! These guys know their stuff. I talked with Jose, who was super friendly. I was able to call on Thursday, drop off the car at around 4:00 pm on Friday, and had it back by 11:00 am on Saturday! Amazing turnaround time. Jose showed me a couple of swatches for fabric options and although neither option he showed me was an exact match, it was close enough to work. When I got the car back, I was pleasantly surprised to find Jose found a near exact match! Amazing! They did outstanding work putting the new headliner in place with only a couple of creases near the windshield that were likely unavoidable. We would recommend Wally's for their honestly, work ethic, and attention to detail. Bravo!

Had the full interior of my 1997 Landcruiser restored here. Jose and the team are incredible- very professional and did outstanding work. They did a full new suede headliner, installed new leather covers front cushions, heated seats, full new mass backed carpet, and A LOT of dynamat and mlv. I'm thrilled they were able to do it all within 2 weeks and the work looks amazing. Really is a brand new car inside. I highly recommend them, you won't regret it!

José is just a very honest and fair person to work with. This place has been around for such a long time 1947 now I understand why.

It only took him roughly a day to get the installation done and was flexible on the pick up time as I was stuck in meetings when the installation completed. The installation of the seat was impeccable. Highly recommend it if you are looking to switching the factory cloth seat to leather. The comfort and the aesthetic of the seat instantly elevated to a new level. In addition, the cost is reasonable compared to other shops that I inquired (plus they are not in SF) There is a small follow up item to fix the broken seat release cable and Wally was nice enough to offer fixing it for free for me.

Apparently the outer "leather" of the car seating is not real leather and it's a known defect on Subarus. We dropped off the car in the morning and he texted as soon as it was done a few hours later. The area of the repair looked brand new. I initially had a hard time remembering where the tear was located! It was fun to see the piece of material he removed & how we could not tell it had even been changed out. Highly recommend coming here.

Literally his words, and he delivered on them completely. What set him apart was the depth he went to. He could've just wiped things down and called it a day, but instead he pulled the front seat out to find and clean milk residue that had seeped underneath the rubber mat. He used a leather soft-fill compound to repair a burn hole in the seat headrest and repainted it to match. He restored my foggy headlights until they looked factory fresh. He revived the faded exterior plastic trim. And through all of it, he kept me updated constantly, explaining exactly what he found, what he recommended, and why, with zero pressure. I really appreciate how communicative he is with his clients, it's one of my favorite things to look out for when trying out a business for the first time, and he delivered. His pricing is fair and transparent. That kind of integrity is rare. If your car needs love, take it to Paul. You won't regret it. I showed up to drop off my car extremely stressed out. It was one of those moments where I realized, yeah I haven't shown this car some love in yearsss, and I am happy I trusted Paul to bring it back to life!

On the blue section, and there was some over-spray and it has a yellowish green tint. It took him a few quick minutes to mix some dye and he didn't really spot check for match. I asked if he could match it better but he said it could make it worse. There was also over-spray. Frankie just blocks off the untouched spot by holding a piece of cardboard. It wasn't precision and care. Also, deep scratches could be sanded, smoothed and polished to match, but he doesn't go to this level of service. He just applies putty over it and lets you know it will leave a lump. However, the match on black was very good, almost perfect. But it felt rough due to the over-spray. Overall, I had expected a more precise hand polishing process and care for matching, but it was just quick spray paint. Deep scratches really didn't get resolved. The car is now a collectors item. I was hoping for a level of quality that matches the prestige. EDIT In response to the owner; I do not use Yelp much and do not write many reviews. But they are bad experiences that are memorable enough to share and I provided evidence (invoices and pictures) to support it. The owner's lack of accountability in his response should be a concern. I've had someone asking about his work the past few weeks (2025: 9 years later) and it prompted me to help this person and update the review and even tone it down a tad for the owner's benefit. 1 and 2. The pictures uploaded appear the same quality as the original but resized. Don't believe otherwise as the owner leads you to believe. Many of you have uploaded pictures and know this is is a lie. I believe Yelp will also dispute the owner on the quality of their site. 3. As for repairing scratches, I had no issues and mearly shared the level of service ($350 - in 2016 dollars) for the community, but the owner has a problem with me sharing it. 4. The car was just as pristine in 2016 as today 2025, 1,500 miles later. I have the invoices on the work, dated before Frankie's job. In fact, I should probably write a review on it since the owner seems to have a problem with me not writing good reviews, especially if it is redundant to many other good reviews. 5. The owner is lying about the date of the job and timing of my review. The job was done on 2/6/2016. My review was dated 5/7/2016. I moved away from the area June 2016 and was very busy with preparing for the move and finishing up my life there. 6. The owner claimed he could make it right, but as he mentioned during the job, he did not want to fix the mismatch. I had no reason to contact him further. I moved to a different area a few months later and had more important concerns than the owner's job and was fine with just writing a review. The owner needs to own it.
