Don's business category is "handyman" but it probably should be "magician with wood"…read more When we moved to Ca recently 2 chairs were damaged despite the best of protection. Both pieces had nostalgic value as they were passed down from family members. One of the chairs had a leg broken off. Don came to our home inspected both chairs, explained the problem and the solution on initial review. We agreed to the estimate to repair and to our amazement both chairs were returned to us in 48 hours. The chair that had a broken leg you cannot tell was ever broken and looks great. In order to fix it a brass rod was installed inside that is totally invisible. The other chair was also repaired that had become structurally unsound during our move. Don is very personable and extremely knowledgeable of wood composition. He is a wood carving hobbyist and he can be found attending various art exhibitions in and around Livermore. He also is an accomplished musician playing rock & blues on keyboards in a band. You may also run upon him playing music at winery tasting rooms from time to time. I guess "magician with wood & artist" might be an improved business description. Thanks Don!

Lucky for us because 15 years ago he was 1-1/2 times more expensive than what we paid recently at a different shop for better quality material and similar craftsmanship. We found Tri-Valley Upholstery (TVU) in Pleasanton after searching and doing some research. My wife reached out via e-mail to inquire about the work we needed and later followed up with pictures. Tri-Valley gave us an estimate and we scheduled an appointment to bring in one chair for evaluation and finalized specifics. We met with Eduardo who was very helpful, energic and enthusiastic. We picked out the material, received a sample, approved the material and scheduled the project. TVU did a beautiful job on reupholstering 6 chairs with a really nice piece of leather. Seats are taunt, tucked perfectly around the chair backs and the bead is spot on. There was a real minor tweak on 3 chairs that TVU took care of quickly. Dropped the chairs off and the next morning they were completed. Eduardo and his team are talented, very responsive, knowledgeable and produce quality work to make customers happy. If you need something reupholstered, give Tri-Valley Upholstery a try. You won't be disappointed and they are priced well.

I searched Yelp and found this business (which had pretty good reviews) back in March, 2026. I spoke to Ed, on the phone to get the 411 on how it works with him. I had to leave a voicemail. He called me back fairly promptly. A week or two later we were in Pleasanton, so I suggested to my husband we drop by his shop to finalize the replacement cushions. We took one of the cushions in to his shop so he could take measurements and we could pick out a density of the replacement foam. So he got the measurements and we picked out the density we wanted and got aquote. He said it will take about a week to get the cushions and he will contact us. Great! We waited to hear from him, finally in the third week my husband tried to contact him via text and left a voicemail. We waited and waited and waited. I thought he's a one man show , he must be busy. I finally contacted him again June 3 (text and voicemail) and waited. I do believe he has ghosted us (as my kids say). Definitely do not recommend a business who does not have the common courtesy to return a voicemail or text. Definitely frustrating. I will resume my search. Thanks for reading to the end of my tale.

There were 2 holes about the size of a pinky and the cavity is about the size that could fit my thumb up to its nailbed. I reached out to a few folks and got quotes. Given my prior positive experience, I reached out to Mauricio to see if this could be done. I also noticed 2 holes that I'm not sure if it was there when I first got the furniture or if something else bore out. These were about the size of a dull pencil tip but on the underside of the furniture. Mauricio was extremely patient with me upon getting the details as I was considering getting a second opinion from some local exterminators on the risk of another emergence. Eventually, I figured out some details and booked an appointment. Everything was quickly scheduled with Edgar who arrived on time promptly and quickly went to work fixing the 4 holes. By the time it was finished, I could only vaguely guess where the holes were. To someone who didn't know about the holes, it would look almost natural. All in all, this took roughly an hour or so to complete. Edgar was sure to clean up after himself and laid out some paper padding to capture any mess left behind and prevent it from touching the floor. Overall, I was happy with the price and quality of work done.

Frankie charged me $150 instead of $95 as advertised for a small hole (size of a penny) on my car seat that accidentally got burned. He just used ordinary leather repair kit that looks like a putty, a blow dryer, and spray paint to match my upholstery's color. He did everything for less than 15 minutes. He even sprayed the entire area where the hole was just to hide it. During the first few days everything looked okay. He told me not to use leather cleaner on it, let it dry, etc. I waited for weeks before I had anyone use it. As weeks passed by, the repair started to appear rough, grainy, bulged out, and peel off at the side. And worst the first time ever somebody sat on the repaired site; it absorbed the color of my passenger's garment. Thus, for months now, I placed a pillow on top of it just to hide it. I restricted anyone from sitting on it thus, rendering it useless. He did a hasty, expensive, and inefficient repair. A repair kit is available at Ebay or Amazon for $10-20. It comes with a putty, applicator, and paint. A car owner who loves their car would probably do a better job than the sloppy one Frankie did because he was such in a rush to get things done. Just half a year after he repaired my car's seat; once again, I am thoroughly doing another research as to where I could have my car's upholstery repaired, this time I would have the burned section replaced; I truly learned my lesson; or I would just buy from Ebay and do it myself. Mind you, I rarely have any passenger ride my car; I seldom use it too. If Frank did a good job, his repair should have lasted at least a year. I will never recommend Frank to anyone- NEVER! read more

Our Lazyboy loveseat that we have had for years developed wear and tear in the form of a torn spot that needed to be patched and areas in a number of places that needed to be repaired. I first reached out to Rick on Yelp and he actually responded even though the shop was closed and it was his day off. He told me to stop by for a quote, and when I came in he took the time to look over everything carefully and explain my options. My Honda S2000 convertible top is shrinking and the rear glass had fallen off, which is not an easy job. Rick offered to glue the glass back in at a very fair price, but he was very honest and said he couldn't guarantee it would hold because the top is shrinking. What really impressed me was that he said if the glue repair doesn't work, he would credit the cost of that repair toward a full top replacement. That level of honesty and fairness is hard to find. He also looked at my seats and told me that if I bring in seat covers, he can wrap them for me, and he gave me a fantastic quote for that work as well. Rick was extremely patient and let me ask a ton of questions without ever making me feel rushed. You can tell he really knows his craft and cares about doing things the right way. I also saw some of the other cars he was working on and the quality of his work looked excellent. He is busy (for good reason), but he was still able to fit me into his schedule about two weeks out. I'm really excited to have him work on my S2000 and get the car looking brand new again. It's not easy to find honest shops anymore, but Rick is definitely one of the good ones.
