Simple and good price. Both the side and noodles were great, with quick service. The noodle was flavored simply with right amount of umami and spice, with sufficient veggies and meat. read more

Went here since I heard this got a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. Steamed egg minced pork - 5/5 - hot and savory yet not too heavy feeling House beef noodles med spicy - 4/5 - fair amount of meat. spice level as described. maybe a little too salty broth. overall good though. popcorn chicken - 4/5 - breaded well, flavor not bad but not great chili oil wonton - 4/5 - not much flavor unless you scooped up the sauce with it mapo tofu noodles mild spicy - 3/5 - little too bland for my liking. wasn't my dish, otherwise would have gotten spicier. despite that, needed a little more flavor. service - 3/5 - overall the people were fine but I really don't like the lack of physical menus (we had older people with us) and the online only ordering. You lose some of the customer service aspect of things which is part of the reason why I enjoy sitting in restaurants to eat vs to-go. This otherwise would be 4/5 stars as a whole if not for the general set-up. However, I didn't find this place to be better than other Sichuan places etc in the area. Not bad but wouldn't specifically come here. read more

Parking lot shared with dynasty and vinh hoa so can get packed often. Just Walk in and sign in on the pad. Wait about 10 min (for me). When the waiter handed me the menu I was completely clueless. I just went by yelp recommendations and ordered a bunch of stuff. I was with my 4 yo picky eater. I can't tell you what I ordered Bc like I said, I don't know what I ordered. The soups were filling & tasty. Noodles were the perfect consistency. Food was very good except that cold cabbage kimchi thing. It was just bland and cold and greasy. The thing with Szechuan food is it's very oily which I can't handle well but the flavor was good. I may be back... but the oiliness I'm just so hesitant over. But service was great. read more

The name of the restaurant didn't stand out to me but their food was delicious! It's interesting that we were asked to order on our phones, and the server brought food out relatively quickly after we ordered. I highly recommend their beef noodle soup, so good! We tried their tomato based broth one and the soup was thick and refreshing at the same time if that's even possible. I don't eat too much spicy, and I was still able to find some good dishes. The jelly dessert was interesting and I loved it. Will definitely come back to try more in future. read more

This place is located outside Dynasty mall facing Bellaire. Inside it's a simple setup but pleasing to the eye. Less is always more I say. The menu has appetizers, dumplings in chili oil and noodle dishes - dry and soupy. They serve a mung bean soup to cool your palate if needed. Be warned the drink has the green Ming bean shells in it which can be annoying for some. Overall the food was good. We ordered some pork dumplings in chili oil. It was pretty good but not the best we've had. The cold Szechwan noodles was my favorite. With every noodle dish you can pay for add ons to jazz up your meal. I ordered the ground pork and it was pretty good. Some bean sprouts would've been nice too. The hubby has spicy beef soup. Not really spicy IMO. My 9 yo daughter could probably eat it. There aren't many Szechuan places in Houston, so when I heard this place opened, I knew I had to come! We ordered the pork dumplings, sichuan noodles, chili oil wontons, and spicy beef noodles. Everything was SO good! The noodles came out within 7-10 minutes of ordering and then the dumplings came out a few minutes later. The portions were way bigger than we expected, which is nice! Definitely took half of everything we got to go. The sauce for the pork dumplings has a sweetness to it that made of one of my favorites. I actually enjoyed dipping the chili oil wontons in the sauce of the pork dumplings more than just the pork ones by themselves. Thankfully, the szechuan taste isn't as numbing as other places in Houston. You can tell it's there, but it's very subtle so you can still enjoy the other flavors in the food. My one gripe is that the service was very slow when waiting to pay out. No one really came to check on the table so we weren't sure if we go up and pay somewhere or if they would bring the check. So that is why I knocked off one star. Definitely recommend as the the food was still worth it. read more

Best beef noodle soup in Houston hands down!!! I've had so many and most of them were such a disappointment, and I was soooo glad when I found this place! Some other recs: 1. Steamed egg (4.5/5) good flavor and a nice filler side dish 2. Spicy black fungus (4/5) I like the texture So-so 1. Steamed veggies: came out cold and they are the same bok choi that goes in the soups. 2. Cabbage: 1 plate of cabbage already comes out with every order so only order if you want extra plate read more

I really love this place! Their beef noodle soups are delicious. It's definitely pricey compared to most other Chinatown places that serve similar dishes... so I do take 1 star off for that. I guess it's a good thing otherwise I would eat here more often. I also tried the hot and sour dumplings this time and they're not as good as the hot oil dumplings. The meat inside was a bit over cooked and the flavor was really light as the dumplings were sitting in soup rather than a paste. read more

My friend and I wanted to try a new place in chinatown and I'm so glad that we came across Mian. Walking in the interior is so aesthetically pleasing! Right when you get seated they bring out the mung bean soup and pickled cabbage. I've never had the mung bean soup before but it supposedly helps you cool down from the spiciness of the noodles. I got medium spicy which wasn't very spicy so I couldn't test it out, but the drink it very refreshing! I also liked the pickled cabbage, very great snack for waiting on the main course. I got the spicy beef noodle soup + fried egg and my friend got the chengdu zajiang noodles + extra beef. We shared the pork dumplings together. It was so much food! Honestly 2 people could share 1 bowl of noodles and 1 bowl of dumplings and still be content. But I'm glad we got 2 bowls so we could try different varieties. The spicy beef noodle was really good! I love how the noodles weren't too firm and they perfectly soak up the broth. The beef was very tender and the broth was not too salty. The chengdu zajiang noodles was really really good. The noodles were more soft than the ones in the broth and the sauce accompanied it very well. As weird as it is to say, the sliminess of the noodles was perfect. My favorite were the pork dumplings sitting in the chili oil broth I wasn't expecting it to be sweet AND savory. When they came out they were piping hot. There was a huge risk for my tongue to get burnt. But I took that risk and it payed off!! The dough was amazingly chewy. It's also cool how they offer free noodle refills! But honestly it was so much food that we didn't even take advantage of it. I would definitely come back and try something different. read more

My boyfriend and I were craving traditional Szechuan noodles and decided to give MIAN a try. Upon arrival, we noticed that they utilized the Yelp waitlist function but since we came on the later end, we were seated right away. We were given our menus, complimentary Mung Bean soup that was room temperature and lightly sweetened with sugar, and a paper placemat that doubled as a cute info graph about their background and why they had Mung Bean soup as a beverage! We were also given complimentary pickled cabbage which in my opinion were alright! I ordered the Hot & Sour noodles because I was craving something with the tingly chili taste and something with broth compared to their drier noodles. I wasn't all too impressed with my dish but I LOVED my boyfriend's dish which was the ZaJiang with Peas noodle dish. I felt that my dish wasn't as flavorful as it looked/I expected but it still delivered the spicy tingly taste I was craving. There wasn't much of a sour taste to it either. :/ My dish was a vegetarian dish but I asked for an additional order of ground pork on the side (extra $1!). I still enjoyed my dish regardless, I just wish there was more depth and flavor to it as it seemed to have. If i come back I will definitely order the ZaJiang with Peas noodle dish because it tasted so much better and flavorful! If you come here get this dish for sure! The sauce they use is amazing and it fulfilled my craving for flavor and spiciness. Hot & Sour Noodle 3/5 - just because I felt like it lacked flavor (depth and sour-ness) and the broth was very oily, but the spiciness definitely delivered! ZaJiang Noodles w/ Peas 5/5! read more

It may have just been an off day, but my experience with a to-go order was very mediocre. The first thing that went wrong was that we placed the order over the phone for pick up but when we showed up only two of the three items we ordered was ready. They had run out of the third item (the spare ribs noodles), and did not tell us until we were ready to pay. When we wanted another item to order, they gave us a menu and we ordered the beef rib noodles. A few minutes later someone comes out and says they're out of that too. We finally are able to get the house beef noodles to round out our order of mapo and tofu noodles and pork dumplings. I feel like this could have been handled better if they knew what they were and were not out of and made any attempt to contact us rather than waiting until we showed up. If the food was better then average things may have been redeemed for me but I can't say I particularly liked what I had. The mapo tofu noodles was very sweet to me. The beef noodles were average. The dumplings were doughy and all stuck together (we could not pick any up without them falling apart because it was one giant glob of dough). At least the latter two tasted decent. Perhaps dining in would improve some of these issues, but based on my to go experience I will likely not be coming back. read more

Hello my fellow yelpers! We were looking for a good Sichuan place and Mian was suggested, and I could not be more happy. The atmosphere is awesome, good service and selection of dishes, you get mung bean soup as drink which it was nice and help with the spicyness! The spicy radish is a must try! For main dish I got the chef suggestion spicy meat soup! With level spice 1 (yes! They let you pick your spicy level! Extra points there!) the soup was tasty and the beef was super tender! If you are eating on site you can get extra noodle for free! Overall was a nice experience, would I come to this place again? Absolutely! 100% recommended! Cheers! read more

The beef noodle soup is quite nice. There is a depth to the flavor and the meat is sufficiently tender. The chili oil dumplings are mediocre and I wouldn't get them again. I was browsing yelp last saturday night and I came across this gem! I think this place is new in houston but they have other locations more along the west coast. I loved the vibe and overall atmosphere of the place and you can tell that they put alot of thought into the design. The meal comes with traditional mung bean soup which is really more like a tea and compliments the szechuan flavors very well. The server was nice and our food came out pretty quick which is always a positive. I ordered the zajiang noodles with peas and my girlfriend ordered the hot & sour soup. Both of which were absolutely delicious and had alot of depth as you would expect from traditional szechuan cooking. If you want a more spicy/savory dish, i would get the zajiang noodles but if you're craving that vinegar/sour taste, i would go for the hot & sour soup. On top of the high quality food and clean atmosphere, the value was better than I expected. Each dish will run you about 9-10 each with add-ons being $1-3 each. If you want to try some amazing szechuan cooking, i highly recommend this place. read more

I got the house beef noodle soup. I got it at less spicey yet it was still so spicy. The spice is accompanied with about 1/4 cup of oil. It doesn't feel right when eating it with the oil. I hope the leftovers I took without the oil feel better to eat. I ordered it with rice noodles and they're really good which I try to find bc I can't have regular gluten noodles. My husband had the beef rib noodle dish and he complained of the oiliness too. The chili oil chausho is good. read more

Highly recommend this place for authentic Sichuan style noodles. You can ask for different spicy levels and add on other ingredients (extra costs). The wait can be a bit long compare to other noodle restaurants in Chinatown. All the dishes that we have ordered were delicious. This didn't work out for me. I enjoyed neither the food nor the experience. The reason I'm not giving 1 star is because it can be my own taste buds that seem incompatible with the flavors. Also the place is clean and modern so there's at least one star for that as well. Nobody greets you at the door. Someone finally yelled from the cashier asking if I'm picking up an order. They told me to seat myself. No smiles etc. I wasn't offered the cabbage appetizer. I actually paid for it. So I'm not sure about what other reviewers are taking about. I also ordered and paid for plum juice. The beef noodle stew is VERY different from Vietnamese pho. It's very oily and the cut of the beef is very gelatinous. I can understand others liking this, but pho is far better for me. read more

This is one of my favorite chinese noodle places. My two favorite dish is shengdu zaijiang mian and their new dish that's tomatoe based soup noodles (very strong tomatoe taste fyi), followed by clear broth zaijiang mian. So far, i have loved everything there except one dish (sichuan hot and sour) - which i believe was perhaps a mess up? It was just spicy, no sour. They were happy to ecchange that dish with a different one. I appreciate the customer service however, because i LOVED the other dishes, i keep going back. Comes with complementary mung bean tea (for the non asians, it's very light, should be palatable for you guys), and a side of (atypical) kimchi. 10 out of 1. I have gone to this place at least 10 times and it still remains my favorite noodle resturant. I would go more frequently but Too bad i live farther. Great service, great ambiance, excellent customer service. HIGHLY recommend. Should you pick a dish you absolutely dislike, they are always happy to accomodate and switch it out. Bonus, extra noodles is free. Love them! read more

TL;DR: Relatively slow service, decent noodles but not that spicy, ok prices My friend and I visited Mian for lunch at around 1 pm on the day before NYE. The restaurant was very busy! Luckily we received a table right away. It took us 10 or so minutes to flag down the waiter to get water and place our orders. I ordered the Zajiang Noodles with Peas. We waited 20-25 minutes for the food to arrive which started to feel a little long...the wait staff definitely looked a tad overwhelmed. When my bowl arrived, my dish was missing the bok choy it comes with. I flagged this with the waiter and he brought me a side of vegetables to make up for it. Personally, I do not think the peas are worth the extra dollar. The fried egg on top of my noodles was cooked hard, which was fine with me but maybe something a little softer/runnier would've better complemented the dish. The noodles were slick, thin, and chewy-- I liked their texture! As for the meat and sauce... it hit heavy with the numbing flavor but the spiciness really wasn't there, which was a letdown. All in all, just ok Zajiang noodles. For $10, it's something like 1.5 portions of food; I had leftovers to take home later. Once again, getting our bill took some time. I appreciated the complimentary spicy cabbage and mung bean drink Mian serves. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the placemat is very cute! I would venture to say this location needs to work on its service a little more to become a smooth-operating restaurant. Date visited: 12/30/19 read more

I love their chili oil pork dumplings, it always hits the spot. Service is fast specially when you call ahead of time for takeout.

They don't really have someone to seat you as you come in. You check in on a tablet (through a Yelp system) until someone sees you and tells you to sit wherever. I don't think there was a point of us checking in through the tablet. We ordered three things: spare rib noodles, chili oil wontons, and beef pie. We also got a complimentary side dish - pickled cabbage and a drink - mung bean. Everything was full of flavor BUT because I wasn't a huge fan of their pickled cabbage... I could taste it in my spare rib noodles. Which kind of threw the whole entire dish off for me. It had a floral taste with a side of tartness. I thought that was really weird. Everyone around us seemed to like it. The beef pie was amazing. It was super crispy on the outside and the beef was seasoned just right on the inside. The chili oil wontons were spicy. It doesn't really get you at first until you're done eating one. We constantly had to ask for certain things such as an extra bowl, extra spoon, and refill our drinks. I totally understand because they just opened! read more

Okay, this place is SO CUTE and the food is SO GOOD! I found this restaurant on yelp because my husband really wanted to try something "hot and new" in Chinatown (his exact words haha). So I searched best restaurants with the Chinatown location chosen and this one popped up. I was really feeling soup, so I suggested a couple, one of which was a hot pot that had a line out the door at 5:30pm! That place looks really good, but with two hungries we decided to go to MIAN, which was next door. Such a great decision! MIAN is super clean and cute inside. They have these really cute little placemats I took a picture of them :) and the service was prompt. There were a couple other families in there when we were eating. They bring you free sweet mung bean drink and sesame cabbage, which if you know me I'm such a sucker for free things like this. It just adds a tiny bit of extra to the restaurant experience. My husband's eyes literally lit up when he saw both of these free items come out and then started talking about how nice the place was. (He wasn't really feeling soup/too spicy food, so these little perks really helped). My husband got the beef noodle soup medium spicy and I got the hot and sour dumpling soup. My husband loved his!! I was like, this is great!! My soup was delicious and I'm not usually a dumpling person, but the noodle on the outside of the dumpling was INCREDIBLE. So super soft and delicate. I looooved it and would def order again. My husband's was also amazing and you can tell the noodles are homemade. They have a really good soft quality. They even brought my husband extra noodles to finish his broth with! Love this place and we'll be back!! read more

I had to return here a week after my first visit because I fell in love with the noodles lol. E Zajiang with peas was just amazing! there are still something that can be improved like the peas were not really soft, but the texture of noodles + the spiciness of red oil + ground pork = HEAVEN Also for the intestine lovers, the intestines here is a must try! Tender but chewy, with great seasoning. I personally prefer no soup noodles here in general, since the taste of soup was not as attractive as the red oil only. The only thing that I was really unhappy with was the potato snack. It was cold and some of the potato chunks were not fully cooked. :( also I thought it was fried but it was not. I write this review at 11pm, after shoveling Sichuan cold noodles into my mouth after a nap. I woke up thinking about this noodle. My friends and I ate MIAN at around 4pm, and I have been waiting for my stomach to feel emptier specifically so that I could eat my leftover cold noodle and pickled cabbage. They're that good!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is coming from someone whose LEAST favorite cuisine is Sichuan (don't come for me, I just hate peppercorns and a lot of the more popular dishes have them). We ordered the hot beef noodle soup, Sichuan cold noodles, chili oil wontons, and pork dumplings. I'm not a huge fan of beef noodle soup in general, but my friends thought that it was solid. The wontons were good as well, but my absolute favorite was the pork dumplings. What is in that sauce!?!?!?!? It's like chili oil with sugar, it's sooooo delicious!! I can't stop thinking about them LMFAO And then the Sichuan cold noodles MY GAWD. I don't know how they made them so flavorful; whenever I make a chili oil noodle it tastes like nothing LOLOL. These are just addicting. The complimentary pickled cabbage is also soo good, it's perfectly and satisfyingly crisp and a little tart. Perfect companion to the noodles. Unfortunately, I can't make recs on recommended spiciness level, as I ordered over the phone and they didn't ask what level I wanted? But what we got was perfect-- nothing was too spicy, just spicy enough. Price: I think pricing is extremely reasonable. Mains are like $8-10, when I feel like other trendy places would be $11-13. It was around $45 to feed 4 people (with a small portion of beef noodle/soup and cold noodle to stuff my face as leftovers) I will definitely be back. I might make the drive tomorrow, seriously. read more
