The first time I was fortunate enough to experience what Mia can do was when she gave me a facial years ago. Just from that facial I knew that she had a talent for making women feel beautiful. She has a calm demeanor and she's really sweet. Since then, Mia has done my makeup a few times and I've seen her for waxings as well. Mia has a lot of experience with makeup and it's apparent in her work. I've gotten artistic makeup done with her--pudding on my head type of artistry-- and bridal makeup for a photo shoot. Each look was unique and pretty, yet still looked like me. None of that--oh my goodness she's wearing choke makeup kine---it was me wearing makeup, more like the makeup just accentuated my features. Mia also does waxings, which here in Hawai`i is a must! However, her shop for waxings and facials are on her home island of Kaua'i. So if you're ever visiting Kaua'i or if you're from Kaua'i, look her up for a facial and waxings. I've gotten a wax from her a few times and it's been much more manageable than other wax experiences I've had. She uses hard wax---much better in my opinion-- it takes a little bit more patience, BUT there is MUCH less irritation than from strip wax. Strip wax may be fast--but a bit more uncomfortable--to me at least. Mia is the total package, she has a talent with makeup, aesthetician work, and has the pleasant demeanor which I look for in a person in this type of work. I LOVED my hair and make-up for our wedding! It was exactly the way I wanted it and so perfect. Mia, was professional, sweet, and just did an amazing job. Mia is AMAZING! She is SO kind and talented, and I could not be happier with my decision to hire her to do my hair and make up on my wedding day. At my trial, Mia put me completely at ease. I brought in a photo of what I thought was the perfect hair style, and she styled my hair even better than the photo! I just got married this past weekend on the beautiful garden isle of Kauai, and had the wonderful Mia Moriguchi as my makeup artist. My Maid of Honor found Mia by an online search. To be completely honest, I was at first really apprehensive about booking a makeup artist without first getting a trial. I live in California, and Mia is based out of Hawaii. I also have dry, acne prone skin, and was worried that the humidity of Hawaii and makeup would make my skin look horrible on my wedding day. All my worries went away as I saw Mia go to work on my first bridesmaid, and saw how she was able to give her this natural, flawless look. Mia did the makeup for three of my bridesmaids, as well as my hair and makeup. Her work is AMAZING, I was beyond happy with the results! She came to my hotel early and was ready before even I was, and got started on my bridesmaids. She explained to me before hand that it takes approximately 1 hour for hair, and 1 hour for makeup. As a person who normally wears no makeup at all, she explained to me color combinations for the look I was going for and what makeup colors would look good depending on my dress color and my bridesmaids dresses. She is incredibly responsive, and replied to my emails the same day. Having had a destination wedding, and not being able to meet Mia before hand, I sent her pictures of hairstyles and described makeup looks that I wanted, and she totally nailed it. i highly recommend Mia's work! Mia did an awesome job with my hair and make up on my wedding day. She flew in to Kauai and to the location we were staying at. She was very professional and was on time to get me ready. She has a lot of name brand make up from Nars to MAC and when she was getting ready with her tools and make up my friend was surprised with all the stuff she has which is a good thing. I emailed her a week before with the hairstyles that I wanted and on the day off she printed my email and did a good job with my hair and stayed all day despite of the strong winds. Note to any bride if getting married in Kauai by the beach is that to wear your hair up and not down otherwise your hair will be all over your face when taking pictures which could be annoying. Having a destination wedding involves a certain amount of trust in the ability of others. We recently got married at the Kahala in Oahu with the help and talent of Mia Moriguchi. Due to travel and time constraints, I had to schedule my trial hair and makeup session the day before the wedding. It was very apparent at this appointment that Mia is an extremely talented artist. Mia has always been very timely with email correspondences and even had a printout of the conversations where I had depicted what I wanted the hair and makeup to look like. The day of the wedding, Mia and her assistants completed the hair and makeup of 2 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and myself in 3 hours without stress or mishaps. Everyone looked glamorous AND natural. My hair and makeup, however, stole the show. Without any intention to toot my own horn, I received so many comments from even the most stoic relatives of how gorgeous the hair and makeup was (even from my little brother - who rarely is impressed).
