Wow. Mia is an amazing person and amazingly talented makeup artist and stylist. I eloped with my husband in Kauai, and had dreaded the process of finding a Makeup artist for our hiking+beach+waterfall elopement adventure. I don't wear makeup everyday nor own any thing more than a stick of eyeliner and tube of mascara. I certainly know nothing about makeup nor what looks good/ how to achieve a look that would be photo friendly but minimal and natural. I also had anxiety with the idea of having to do a trial before hand. Didn't need a trial because Mia is so experienced and good at communicating. I reached out to Mia about five months before our trip, and her team was prompt to respond, and answer any questions. Once i locked the service in, HoneyBook was very easy to use. I sent Mia photos and ideas for myself and she was able to interpret my confusing emails perfectly into what look I wanted. I wanted minimal makeup, and to wear my curly hair natural. I'm so pleased with how the look interpreted in the photos.!! She also did an amazing job on my moms makeup, which required experience with Asian features. Mia showed up to start my hair and makeup in Waimea at 2:00 AM on our elopement day!!!!!!!! I wish I could give Mia more than 5 stars. She is absolutely amazing and truly a one of a kind person. I booked Mia for bridal hair and makeup, MOB makeup, and MOH hair. She came to our air bnb which I was so happy with because it was so comfortable getting ready in our own setting and not having to travel. She did my MOH/sister's blow out first which turned out so beautiful. Then moved on to my mom's makeup. And wow, it came out so stunning. She made my mom look so beautiful and really just enhanced everything about her. My mom had shown her an inspo pic and she absolutely nailed it, but in her own way. What is amazing is that you still look like yourself, just more refined. I love how even in the candid photos other guests took, I appear to be glowing and my skin looks flawless. My daughter got married in Kauai this past week. Since we live in California, she relied on her Kauai wedding planner for referrals for all the vendors for the wedding. I'm so lucky that I found Mia to do my hair and makeup for my wedding on Kauai! Mia was sweet, professional, and expertly created the exact look I asked for! She was a delight to talk to during my trial and the wedding day, which I especially appreciated since the wedding was immediate family only and I didn't have any of my girlfriends around. The only thing I was disappointed by was that Mia does not offer hairstyling services by itself; she will do your hair for free (great perk!) if you receive a makeup application, but no a la carte hairstyling. This was a bummer and added some slight inconvenience to my wedding because my mom wanted her hairstyled but was not interested in getting her makeup done professionally. I must have Changed my hair and makeup style 5-6 times right up to the wedding, because it was a destination and I didn't know how the weather would hold up for my hair and makeup. I've never seen my mother look so beautiful. I had opted to do a trial hair and makeup run through 2 days before my wedding. I was surprised how detailed she was even with that! I thought it was going to be more casual... I felt so bad washing it all off just a few hours later :( I would definitely recommend a run through just to ease your mind, but really it wasn't necessary because she nailed it the first time. I had sent Mia several images of hair and makeup that I liked so maybe that helped too, but if you are a little more of a hands-on, high maintenance bride then definitely do the trial!
