I found out about Karina's Deli from a friend of a friend who told me that he likes the food there…read more I live close by so I decided to try it last month. The place is on Maple Ave and close to the Westbury LIRR. When you walk in you see a bunch of different hot foods chilling there looking tasty. I got a large container ($7) and asked for yellow rice, plantains, and pork (I think it's pernil, but I could be wrong - see the pictures). With tax it came out to $7.60. I paid with credit card and left. I got home and started eating. Wow, it was amazing. First off, they packed a dump load of food in the container, which I really appreciated. The pork wasn't ultra soft, but felt apart decently well. It tasted so good and had some sort of crazy glaze to it that was so tasty. The pork is just crazy good; end of story. The rice and plantains were also ultra satisfying too. Nothing much to really describe but it complimented the pork about as well as possible. Hopefully I have consistently great experiences when I go back in the future. For now I think this is 5 star status for sure. My meal was immensely satisfying and the value is unbeatable. Punta Cana on Post Ave has amazing ratings that are well deserved, but I think this place might be better. Guess we'll see based on future visits.

Yes the workers are polite but on my 1st visit I find a womans hair in my plate which was drowning in sauce which I did not request (hate wet rice). Not to mention the cooks & staff are all Hondurian. That disqualifies yourself from calling it a Dominican restaurant, especially if your food doesn't deliver. Bettter of hitting Punta Cana DR Grill, for $1 more you get better tasting Dominican food!

They have a large menu but only 20% of the items are available and it's basically all the pre-cooked foods. They gave me a little attitude when I ordered the papusas b/c that required them to actually cook something. My coworker got the beef stew with rice and beans. It was bad. The rice was soggy and the beef was very dry. How they managed to dry out the beef in a stew still confuses me. The papusa was decent but had no spice. I asked for a fresh jalapeño the lady gave he some pickled ones then tried to convince me that it was fresh ... later she said they didn't have fresh jalapeño. I had to walk over the deli counter to point out the fresh jalapeños before she would admit that they had them. Don't come here if you don't speak Spanish. The one lady that speaks English is a fucken bitch

This place is tiny, but the moment you walk in, you are dazzled by the pastries and the friendly welcome. This had been on my Yelp list of places try for a long time, but given is far from home, I hadn't stop by until now. My nostalgia for Chilean food of my time there, finally prompted me to take the long drive. Everything looks amazing in the display case and if I could have it all, I WOULD!! But less is more sometimes. The Empanada de Pino (Chilean style beef empanada) were super tasty and the Chilenitos, fresh and delectably sweet. They have a few tables for eating in and their menu is basic to some of the most iconic nostalgic foods from Chile. The walls are decorated sparingly, but don't and center, they proudly display memoribilia of their loved one's military service. That alone gives them an extra star. This place is a must, if you want some good Chilean food and some friendly smiles.
