I was excited to try this Dominican restaurant, as they are relatively rare to find in Miami. When we arrived, we were seated at one of the high-top tables by the bar, which was perfectly fine since I mainly came to enjoy a bowl of sancocho. A server came to take our order. Communication was a bit challenging, but I was able to ask for sancocho to start with avocado, and for my main dish I requested two chicken breasts with vegetables and beans, without rice. I was informed that substitutions were not available and that the dishes are served as listed on the menu with rice and beans as the standard sides. I said that was fine and asked for the dish as it comes. After placing the order, however, we did not receive any further service for about 15 minutes -- no drinks, water, or follow-up. Unsure if the order had gone through, we eventually decided to cancel and leave. We let the hostess know before departing. I was looking forward to the experience, so it was disappointing that things didn't work out this time. We were seated right away and there were a good amount of people in there for a 3p on a Saturday. The food- we opted out of appetizers as nothing really stood out and I really wanted to try Dominican mofongo. We had the fried pork chicarron and shrimp. The mofongo itself is really good, not dry nor clumpy and it sits on a garlic butter sauce which was delicious. Shrimp was better than pork IMO. Portion size is good. Dessert was a maracuya cheesecake which was also good. Service was attentive and polite. I did feel a little rushed to leave as soon as we got the dessert we were given the bill. I am guessing they were making space for the dinner crowd. Most of the diners were having the mofongo, although I did see a full fish deep fried which lookd good. I had the Mangu con Tres Golpes, and Nat had the Quisquella Roll for our entrees. The Mangu was excellent, and each Golpes was a perfect hit. The Quisquella roll was interesting--it is filled with Salami, queso frito, Maduros, and Aguacate. The roll's taste is not what you expect initially, but it's interesting. If you like sushi, you'll enjoy it. The mimosas were good, and the chinola one was our favorite. We also tried their Chinola Cheesecake, a dreamy and fresh delish to end your meal. The cream cheese is whipped, light, and creamy. The gram cracker crust is light and fresh. The Chinola layer on top is gelatinous. Overall, the brunch was excellent. The food itself is filling and flavorful, except there are various other spots that would give you a much better experience for your money. This is a one and done type of restaurant for me, and I would recommend Isla De Encantó in front of Miami Executive airport for Puerto Rican food, or any Cuban spot that has high reviews on yelp. Mi Tierra overall was a wonderful experience and recommend a visit for Caribbean food lovers especially if you enjoy Dominican Mofongo. The location is very nice, clean and modern looking. Everything on that display was delicious and fried to perfection a 10/10. - Trio de Empanadas- these were pretty good but nothing majorly special about em for us but also fried to perfection a 7.5/10. We were told also that we couldn't substitute the cheese empanada for one of the others ones and that they only do that during the week. - White Rice / Habecheulas (beans) - this was good nothing special either. The beans were a little underwhelming with very faint Caribbean flavor a 6/10. - Mi Tierra Salad - this was very good and a good portion size. Everything was absolutely fresh. My only gripe was that we didn't want cheese on the salad and the waitress told us "no we couldn't" because it always comes in it which seemed strange. When we got the dish they easily could have left the cheese off of this salad. The salad does get a 8/10 for us because it was delicious even though we scooped the cheese off. - Mofongo Chicharron Cerdo - this was sooooo good but beware you have to be a garlic lover. The sauce is very garlicky but I loved it. So if garlic not your thing this is not a dish for you. Also, this dish would have been a 9/10 for me if the pork chunks were just meat and not come with the layers of fat (chicharon) but hands down get a 8/10, very flavorful, fresh, and filling. - Mofongo de Churrasco also very delicious and felt this dish was very on point and quality of meat was pretty good. Another solid 8/10 Mofongo. Service was nice but we had someone who seemed new to serving and had to remind her constantly to refill our waters, or ask for small items as we all do when dinning several times. So the service she provided was very basic but at least she was very nice and polite. We drove all the way from Plantation (Broward County) all the way to Kendall to try Mi Tierra and overall we really enjoyed it. If you're in that area or wish to travel to it as we did we recommend at least a visit! Remember make a reservation just to secure your spot! read more

Our waiter Carlos despite being his last customers of the day, he maintained his professionalism by recommending the best options on the menu, our was trío empanadas and picadera this dish is the perfect combination and offers you the opportunity to try different flavors such as salami with an exquisite sauce with a touch of spice, delicious fried cheese, crispy fried boneless chicken along with a portion of fried yuca that you can also combine with the sauce, as well as mini blood sausages. There were three of us and that was enough. And the trio of empanadas was also delicious with a thin, crispy coating that when you bit into it, you could feel it was at the perfect temperature to eat.
