My wife and I hit the drive through last night. We ordered the rotisserie chicken sandwich combo, lomo slatado, and a tres leches cake. We drove home and dove in about 10 mins later. The rotisserie chicken sandwich was just ok. The bread was kind of pressed like a panini and cut like a pocket to hold the meat. I say kind of like a panini because they just smashed the bread, didn't really grill anything with it. The bread had pretty good flavor but the fillings of the sandwich just did not have a whole lot of flavor. Other than red onion, flavor was absent. The fries were very limp and seemed like they were not fully cooked. It was more than just being steamed inside the take out containers. My wife liked the lomo saltado. She did not rave about it but said it was good. She did rave about the horchata. She was very disappointed when it was finished. The tres leches was moist and she liked it. Overall, the three star explanation of OK is perfect. Not offensive at all but nothing to write home about. At first, this restaurant had excellent, fresh chicken and great overall food. My husband and I used to come here once a week specifically for their rotisserie chicken. Unfortunately, over the past few months, the quality has declined significantly. Lately, the chicken has been extremely dry and tastes old, to the point where it's not even edible, forget enjoyable. What's especially frustrating is that we've asked staff multiple times if the chicken was fresh, and despite being reassured, we were still served very dry chicken. This has been a really disappointing change, especially since we used to enjoy coming here regularly. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues and returns to the quality it once had. read more

I passed by lunch today and I am highly dissatisfied with their service. I had ordered a flan to go with my lunch and what I got was a waste of my time and money. First off, its not even the flan advertised on their menu screen. It is a prepackaged small flan from Yolita's. This cost me $4.99. To make matters worse, it was already 5 days expired. I'm already paying over the price for the flan and for it to be expired?!?! Ridiculous. They should not be selling these items to their clients. Super sad they removed yucca and rice sides from the meal options. We used to order a 1/4 chicken with yucca and rice. Now you can only get fries and a soda and their app doesn't allow substitutions, so you have to order other sides separately. The fries were soggy by the time it was delivered. Went for my second visit yesterday and a huge difference. manager was still the best! However, as I was waiting for my food (Togo order), I happened to be watching the cook behind the line. The was the most disturbing thing that I have seen. He did not have a hat on. He look very disheveled. I saw him put his bare fingers in his mouth and scoop and clean his teeth and then proceeded to finish making my order. He did not wash his hands and it was very nasty to see this. I have been coming here a couple times to get the number 6. Honestly, it tastes amazing, but recently I've had some unfavorable experiences. My wife had a few bones mixed in with her meal one time. I told her it happens and gave the benefit of the doubt. She couldn't eat anymore because she didn't want to risk swallowing bones. I went another time ordering the number 6 as I usually do. Food was great until I noticed plastic in my food. It looked like the plastic that holds the caps to soda bottles or the plastic strip you pull off a milk jug to open it for the first time. A couple of us came here for lunch on a weekday and they were moderately busy in the drive-thru and with to-go orders from the inside. The dining room is decent and clean and the manager is friendly and helpful (he took our order). Prices are decent, not the best I've seen. The yuca was among the better that I've had, we both really enjoyed it. Their yellow sauce is amazing and their green sauce had a little spice and a decent flavor. We both ordered Lomo Saltado and it was nice to see that they make it fresh when ordered (as any restaurant should), as we watched the cook get the pan ready and add fresh ingredients. It came out nice and piping hot, with decent rice. Thesauce definitely wasn't what we were used to with Lomo Saltado, as it didn't even seem to have any soy sauce in it. The meat was tender, but it was the wrong cut of meat, it appeared and tasted like chuck, not a leaner meat, like sirloin. Overall, I'd probably come back and try their chicken or maybe a chicken sandwich. But definitely wouldn't get the Lomo Saltado again. read more

3.5 stars. This place would benefit from a few tweaks. This is a decent place that's worth trying if you're into peruvian food. The wife and I shared the mixed seafood ceviche, steak sandwich and sides of fried yuca and fried plantains. Ceviche Mixto needed better squid and octopus - those were a bit flavorless and boring; the fish, shrimp, "ceviche juice" and all the other accompaniments were great though. Next time we'll probably just order the fish ceviche unless they make improvements to their other sea creatures. The steak sandwich was just "ok", nothing to be excited over. I didn't care for the cut (or perhaps QUALITY?) of meat used here, which I assume is the same used in their standard Lomo Saltado. I've had that particular dish in a few different states and restaurants... I don't think I've ever tasted steak like this one - it's not bad - but it's also not good. First time at Mi Rico after waiting a long time for it open. Ordered the whole chicken "family Meal". Flavor was very good, what you'd expect of good Peruvian Chicken. However.... ordering the whole chicken family meal, one would expect to feed a family of at least 3 usually 4. Got the whole chicken and the size of the sides was only hardly enough to satisfy on hungry person maybe two. For a family of 3-4 no way are the sides enough, each side was the same size as a regular side intended for one. Great taste but Mi Rico needs to step up the sizes for their "family meal" as the their menu suggest. If you order family size whole chicken, better order additional sides because what they provide is no where near family portions. Value was good, maybe they should increase the portions and raise the price slightly, not expecting any restaurant to serve at a lose of profit. I had the Mi Rico Peru in Springfield and def. enjoyed it. The location in Manassas is not so great. I purchased a large ceviche mixto for $16.99 and I can clearly state that it was definitely a huge waste of money. For basically $17, this ceviche should have a more authentic taste and flavor, and don't know why the fish was dice into small 1/2" cubes, the lime juice tasted on the artificial side and the sweet potato was probably boiled with cinnamon, which is cool and heard of this technique, but it shouldn't take away and consume the the flavor of the sweet potato. The squid/calamari was extremely rubbery and the over all taste was poor. In addition to the ceviche, my wife and I got Aji de Gallina which was decent as I haven't had it in awhile, flavor was ok, but the foil they used as a base on the togo container kept tearing with the plastic utensils so had to keep picking it off. I would recommend Inca Social for a better tasting Aji de Gallina for just about the same price and a better atmosphere. But overall, there are way better Peruvian spot in the Nothern VA area. This was my first visit to this restaurant and I went with a clear mind and empty stomach. I ordered a quarter chicken (dark) meal. The order comes with beans and rice, but if you want to change it I think the cashier can do that for you, since she asked me if beans and rice were okay. The meal also brings a 20oz drink (not self serve). My total was $13.20. Not bad. I sat down and waited for my food to be ready, and to my surprise the cashier brought it out to my table in about 10 minutes. Everything on the plate was nice and hot. The yuca was great and I punished the rice and beans. Now when it came to the chicken, that is where I felt it was subpar. I felt that it lacked flavor, but that may depend on personal preference.
