You would think the food would come faster since we are right in the kitchen but not at all. Took at least an hour for apps then another hour for entrees. I wish it was worth the price but no. The garlic bread? Amazing.The calamari was so coated in powdered parmesan I couldn't even taste it! The salads were good but none of the protein was. The soup had nice flavor, but wasn't hot at all; almost as if it was sitting around for a while. The Shrimp risotto was wonderfully prepared and so delicious with the greens. I highly recommend this dish! The reason why I am giving this place 3 stars is mainly for the service. Most places of this caliber have team servers (ie one main waiter and others to help with bussing, filling drinks, serving the food). We had one waitress and another person who delivered our food. I spent most of the evening very thirsty; I didn't order alcohol, so probably why I didn't get much attention. It took a long time to get our orders placed, plates cleared, and check delivered. Decided to try Mezzo out after researching their menu. I ordered the Gnocchi with braised short rib and it was delicious. The short rib was tender and flavorful which created a nice texture for their sauce. Their portions were nice, as the Gnocchi is very hearty, but a guilty pleasure. read more

There's a few cheaper options for the happy hour specials. I had the French fries. It's about $5 to get these at happy hour. The fries were certainly better than what you can get at any kind of fast food place. It looked like they were freshly cut. These fries were also thick. Beyond that there wasn't much that appealed to me on the menu. Most entrees were very expensive and there were no vegetarian options among the main items, which limited me. If you order the veggie noodles as a side alone it's also $6. So why is substituting it for regular pasta the same? It makes no sense. It's like they're discouraging you from ordering them, which is a shame because they're delicious. Wish Mezzo would get it together! We started with the arancini balls which were very delicious but the portion is tiny to share between three people! We also got wine and asked for recommendations but after selecting, the wrong wine choices came out which was frustrating. Then I got the mezzo chicken (ie chicken parm). It sounded like a safe staple dish but it was far from that. The chicken had no flavor or seasoning at all while the pasta sauce tasted like tomato purée straight from a can. Drinks and appetizers looked great but we decided to just stick with entrees. I ordered off the awesome vegan menu and got pasta and my boyfriend ordered the mezzo chicken. I came here with a friend to try out their restaurant week menu. In terms of location, Mezzo is almost dead center in the middle of downtown Dublin. There are two entrances, one that is directly facing Darby St and then the other one that is on the other side of the building. The one behind the building is the main entrance where the hostess is located. There is plenty of parking on the street, the free lots behind the building and the new parking lot next to the Dublin Public library. With seating, there is a fairly good sized patio and bar area with additional dining room seating on the second floor. The second floor is quite large and is handicap accessible. For the first course, I have the arancini which had a very good texture with the rice not being too hard or mushy but I found that it lacked in terms of seasoning. The next course I had was the 5 ounce filet which came with smashed truffled potatoes and spinach. I wasn't too impressed or disappointed with the filet... it just felt average. I do want to call out that they did a good job cooking the steak to my specification and the presentation was quite nice. The final course was a tiramisu which the waitress had told us was going to be very fluffy therefore I was quite excited for it. However, I found that the presentation of the dessert was lacking and seemed very rushed. I also found that it was very dense and not something that I would describe as fluffy. I found that the service that we received was lacking. Our waitress seemed extremely rushed and didn't pay attention to details. First off, I want to mention that we were seated as a two person table- therefore space was at a premium. With the bread plates/basket in addition to the appetizer plates on our table, we really didn't have any additional place to put our main courses. Instead of clearing some of the plates out before the main course, they came out with the main courses leaving us to have to try and rearrange and hold some of the plates while they put down the main course. Additionally, I had to ask for a steak knife after the entrees had arrived ( I had ordered a filet). As we were getting closer to the end of the meal, shortly after the desserts arrived, she immediately dropped off the checks. It made the end of the meal feel rushed rather than relaxing. We ordered take out from Mezzo last night. Calamari, salad and entrees. I loved the foccacia that came with our meal. The balsamic dressing on my house salad was really tangy, and had that nice sour pop. I enjoyed the salad made with mescaline greens and artichoke hearts. The calamari was okay but not outstanding. It was a little too greasy for my taste. My lasagna was pretty tasteless. Large chunks of under seasoned meat in several bites. It wasn't bad so much as lackluster or generic. Sadly, Costco even makes more flavorful lasagna. Dinner was not really up to pay with my expectations. I likely won't eat there again. read more

We got mussels and they were filled with grains of sand which is sad bc the broth was amazing! But inedible.... We got the mushroom ravioli and it was raw but the filling was so good! For my eggplant parm the chef didn't remove the skin and it was incredibly tough to eat and cut through. Unfortunately, I had the opportunity to go to Mezzo for the first time today and had a terrible experience. I was so excited to try their beautiful patio but unfortunately, the entire time we were sitting out there bees were swarming us. They have a problem with bees infesting the entire patio. I understand that this is not completely controllable, however, the rest of the experience was also awful. My family and I all got salads that were extremely small. Additionally, one of our salads had slimy, wilted lettuce all throughout and we had to send it back. There was very little apology and they did not comp this meal for us. Additionally, we asked for drink refills and the waiter never re-appeared with them. We had no silverware until after our food arrived and it took 15 minutes for them to even bring us a to go box at the end of our meal. On top of all of this the one manager had an extremely annoyed attitude through every interaction. We will not be returning. read more

Mezzo is a favorite after work "meet up" spot with friends who live and work locally. I first discovered this fun restaurant during the winter months last year and fell in love with their cocktail menu and stumbled upon their great happy hour appetizer specials in the bar area until 7pm on a whim. My go-to will always be their seafood; shrimp risotto or seared scallops are my most frequent repeat orders but I'm a huge fan of their happy hour menu and the half off pizzas. Gluten-free crust is also available. Tips: 1) Never been? Try Mezzo for happy hour. It's like a great sampling menu: Happy Hour Menu is available Sunday through Friday from 4pm to 6pm in the dining rooms & patio and 4pm to 7pm in the bar area. 2) They have a great coffee menu for after-dinner or with dessert. The recommended/popular entrees were the paperdelle bolognese, ribs gnocchi, and fennel crusted salmon. We were excited to try the Porchetta (the only veg entree option) but it seems to have been discontinued (which is the only reason I've knocked the review down to a four). Bruschetta and meatball appetizers were fine, and the bolognese and salmon that we went for were savory and filling. Order sides of veggies (ex confit broccolini) to complete the meal. What a disappointing evening, and for a special birthday no less. Our party of 6 had reservations for 5:30. Due to multiple (and completely unexplained!) delays in receiving our order (20 minutes for iced tea, 1 hour and 15 minutes for entrees and 30 minutes for dessert) it was close to 9:00pm before we left. Never before had waiting nearly an hour and a half after ordering seemed "normal" but that seemed to be the case tonight. 1. our server provided absolutely no insight on or apology for the breakdown in service. 2. All 3 tables in our area were also there as long as we were, so clearly not an isolated incident. Sadly, and to make matters worse, the food was no where near being worthy of such an unfathomable wait. I had ordered the lemon risotto shrimp dish which was "meh" at best. The lemon was truly undetectable. The arugula was raw and completely unseasoned. The fried leeks were so small and thinly sliced that the only taste provided was the oil it was fried in. To their credit, the 4 shrimp were well cooked and seasoned, but not enough to save the meal or experience by any means. With so many other options in terms of dining, I can't imagine a good enough reason for any return visit as they either don't care about such delays or are oblivious to it. I've been to Mezzo in Dublin twice, once for a Galentine's dinner with my best friends and another time with my parents for my birthday. Both times I ordered the same dish-Campanella alla vodka and I love it so so much! When I went with my friends, my GF friend got the same dish as me but with gluten free noodles instead and it still tasted very good. My other friend got a salmon dish which was also very well liked also! My parents and I shared the meatball appetizer which was really good, and started with their appetizer salads as well. These salads are a bit bigger and can be recommend for those who want something small for dinner like a salad with an appetizer. The restaurant is beautiful as well as the surrounding area! They have a bar area that has live music on Wednesday's I believe, and happy hour during the weekdays in the same seating area. The upstairs is a little private, where the kitchen is also.
