Loved the place. Good food and ambience and the staff is lovely! And it's budget friendly as well! One of my favorites in Glasgow!

The baba ghanoush was different and seems to be a deconstructed salad rather than what I've had elsewhere. The hummus was good. The grilled lamb and chicken kebab was quite small portions but very tasty. The bread was good. Overall not epic but a place I would not hesitate to return to.

I can't believe this place doesn't have a constant que to get in I placed my order for a mixed grill. I'm always a sucker for mixed sat down with images of kebabs and shawarma dancing in my head. I was settled in and ready to wait. The owner asked if I had been before and how I found the place. We chatted for a bit then he went to the kitchen and popped out with what he called a snack. To me it looked the size of a starter. Hummus, baba ghanouj, and something called a rabbi salad I think. They were all very good the entire time I was there everyone was very friendly and chatty much different that I usually get when I order take away On to the mixed grill I almost forgot I was waiting for food. The portion was insane easily enough for 2-3 people. There was lamb and chicken in various forms some ribs and kebabs and wings. All amazing the rice and bread were cooked perfect. Sadly I have to admit due to the large portion I didn't try the salad I had to prioritise what I shoved in my face. Perhaps I'll give that a go later after a burn off some calories I didn't look at much else on the menu but I did hear someone order a falafel wrap and it was only 3 pounds

It was late, the restaurant wasnt busy but the reception was welcoming. The decor was pleasant, with pretty hanging lights this small restaurant had a Turkish v modern twist. I enjoyed my meal Alla Turca Mixed Grill (see picture). I decided to try the Fruit Creme Brulee but found it extremly rich and creamy so settled for enjoying my complimentry champagne cocktail whilst I eyed up my friend Baklava :-). Great choice of food, set menu and ala cart - Worth a visit.

Alla Turca is definitely the latter. Waiting made me thirstier and thirstier! This was a Saturday night but we were there for 3 hours just for 3 courses! A long time to sit on plastic chairs. When we were served by a nice gentleman, accompanied by the string plucking of a Turkish guitar player, the Barbequed Chicken Shish wasn't the best I had tasted, but wasn't the worst. Otherwise my starter of falafel and houmous were lovely. A good quick stop for dinner with a different sort of music, but not a nights worth of entertainment.

This time we were meant to be going somewhere else, but this place really impressed. From the outside, it looks just like a casual takeaway but there's actually a restaurant out the back too. Rocco had booked us a table and we had the space to ourselves which was quite fun. Looking over the menu there was a really impressive selection and I'd say most people should be able to find something they'd be excited to order. Of course I went for the aubergine starter (imam bayildi) which is served cold and in tomato sauce. The aubergine had been cooked for a long time so it was lovely and soft and incredibly delicious. It was also really nice to have a cold starter as it was quite refreshing. For mains, I had the chicken shish which came with rice. It could've used some kind of sauce I thought, maybe some yoghurt but I did really enjoy it. It was a generous size portion and I couldn't actually finish it in the end. While this restaurant is pretty casual I felt like we were well looked after, and the bill came to around £16 per person which I thought was reasonable for two courses and many soft drinks. It's handy for a pre-drink at the Laurieston too.

The first time I walked past this place I did have a bit of a laugh about the name, it really doesn't look like much from the outside. I really did wonder what we'd be in for as we gathered in an empty back room for International Food night.. Thankfully initial impressions don't always ring true as this was a rather enjoyable evening. So yes, Falafel & Houmous were ordered & devoured as I'd worked up quite an appetite that day. To be honest, you could easily have 1 starter & 1 main course between two, which would mean you could try the Baklava (you know you want to!) The Houmous was really good, it was flavourful and had the perfect consistency for spreading on the mountain of fresh flatbread that accompanied it. I think I could've kept eating it until I keeled over! The Falafel plate that came out as my main course was huge. Thankfully about 1/3 of it was salad so that I didn't end up overdosing on chickpeas, as the other 2/3 of the plate was Falafel & (more) Houmous. The Falafel was a little overcooked on the outside, but it was perfectly cooked on the inside. Oh yeah did I mention there was yet more flatbread! After that meal I figured I'd carb loaded for the rest of the month, it was about 49% chickpeas, 49% flatbread & about 2% salad & drinks. The great thing about Kervan Palace is despite the modest surroundings, the food was pretty authentic & tasty, the seemingly lone member of staff was really friendly and obliging (despite having a group of 14 hungry Yelpers & 8 folk up front watching Fenerbache v Ajax). I have to say I've thought about going back for another taste of the Houmous & Imam Bayildi, which means that this seemingly hidden wee gem has found itself another fan!

That's exactly what we need! What can we take away from this experience? Good things come to those that wait: in this case, a frosty bottle of refreshing beer that isn't immediately apparently available based on the menu. And like Chris and Jenny reported, the chicken and chorizo stew hits the spot on a chilly, drizzly, gray evening. The steaming goodness with a few slices of crostini on top is just the right portion to be filling without leaving you feeling like you need to go temporarily bulimic to compensate. Do note that the storefront is currently hidden behind a hideous scaffolding. I attribute the odd emptiness of the café to the fact that it's not readily visible from the street. Don't let that deter you from dining here, though - delightful food and the pleasant folks who work here await you!

The do lovely soups, fantastic take-away choose-you-own salad boxes, sandwiches to order, a fish stew to die for, and lots of other goodies. If you're a regular and know what to ask for, it's great. If, on the other hand, you haven't been before, it can be a little confusing as to procedure. There's a sign saying 'counter service', but there are menus on the table so you have to sit down first. Then the counter layout is a bit weird so it's not exactly clear where you need to order from. They could do with a bit more signage in that department. The service has always seemed very hit and miss to me, it really depends who you get on the day and how busy it is. You'll either love or hate the laid-back bohemian atmosphere, depending on how much of a hurry you're in. It has great comfy sofas and lots of nice rustic wooden tables, and the mezzanine area when it's open is great for hiding out of the way. They have free Wi-Fi (always a bonus), and a drinks licence. The coffee isn't the best, but it's better than most. Some people love the chilled vibe, but I'd really prefer them to be a bit quicker off the mark. They could also do with redesigning the counter area, and maybe think about putting up a better take-away menu?
