The salads, the kebabs, the dips, the seafood... everything was first rate as was the service. Only dish that faltered (and we had 10 among four of us) was the moussaka. Terrific meal! They need to pay more attention to their Yelp listing - there's a full bar, excellent cocktails, and they take credit cards - despite the Yelp listing.

To me it looked the size of a starter. Hummus, baba ghanouj, and something called a rabbi salad I think. They were all very good the entire time I was there everyone was very friendly and chatty much different that I usually get when I order take away On to the mixed grill I almost forgot I was waiting for food. The portion was insane easily enough for 2-3 people. There was lamb and chicken in various forms some ribs and kebabs and wings. All amazing the rice and bread were cooked perfect. It was late, the restaurant wasnt busy but the reception was welcoming. The decor was pleasant, with pretty hanging lights this small restaurant had a Turkish v modern twist. I enjoyed my meal Alla Turca Mixed Grill (see picture). I decided to try the Fruit Creme Brulee but found it extremly rich and creamy so settled for enjoying my complimentry champagne cocktail whilst I eyed up my friend Baklava :-). Great choice of food, set menu and ala cart - Worth a visit.

Alla Turca is definitely the latter. Waiting made me thirstier and thirstier! This was a Saturday night but we were there for 3 hours just for 3 courses! A long time to sit on plastic chairs. When we were served by a nice gentleman, accompanied by the string plucking of a Turkish guitar player, the Barbequed Chicken Shish wasn't the best I had tasted, but wasn't the worst. Otherwise my starter of falafel and houmous were lovely. A good quick stop for dinner with a different sort of music, but not a nights worth of entertainment.

This time we were meant to be going somewhere else, but this place really impressed. From the outside, it looks just like a casual takeaway but there's actually a restaurant out the back too. Rocco had booked us a table and we had the space to ourselves which was quite fun. Looking over the menu there was a really impressive selection and I'd say most people should be able to find something they'd be excited to order. Of course I went for the aubergine starter (imam bayildi) which is served cold and in tomato sauce. The aubergine had been cooked for a long time so it was lovely and soft and incredibly delicious. It was also really nice to have a cold starter as it was quite refreshing. For mains, I had the chicken shish which came with rice. It could've used some kind of sauce I thought, maybe some yoghurt but I did really enjoy it. It was a generous size portion and I couldn't actually finish it in the end. While this restaurant is pretty casual I felt like we were well looked after, and the bill came to around £16 per person which I thought was reasonable for two courses and many soft drinks. It's handy for a pre-drink at the Laurieston too.

The first time I walked past this place I did have a bit of a laugh about the name, it really doesn't look like much from the outside. I really did wonder what we'd be in for as we gathered in an empty back room for International Food night.. However we also went for chips and cheese (really good too) and veg pakora which was very tasty, albeit slightly stodgy inside - sort of what you get with a slightly under baked bread/cake. For me, visiting a McDonald's is never exactly a proud moment. It usually means I'm a) drunk, b)…read morehungover or c) suffering a momentary lapse of self control and ruining my most recent attempts to be healthy. We've all been there, I'm sure. Thing is, McDonald's actually is good for those things and if that's what you're after then there's no shame in that. This branch is especially handy in that it's open 24 hours. It also has a drive-thru attached, although I've never used that facility so I can't properly comment on it. In spite of being a small, drive-thru branch they still do all of the major offers (so if you get one of those vouchers for a big mac and fries for £1.99 then go ahead, they'll accept it) and they do all the standard UK menu items, including the specials as they come and go. Food-wise it's the same as any other McDonald's. They can alter your items if you have any particular requirements and they almost always have a few Big Macs and McChicken Sandwiches ready to go as you walk in. If not, they're still pretty quick. Less popular items, such as specials, salads and deli sandwiches take a bit longer, but I'm pretty sure that's true everywhere. You can expect really long queues around dinner time and long-ish queues at lunch time over the weekends. I've only ever once failed to get a seat, though. Plus, the staff are quick enough and clearing the queue and if there's a wait for fries (or if you've ordered something less popular) they'll tell you to go take a seat and will bring it to you when it's ready. The toilets are kept pretty clean and the staff do a decent job of clearing the tables whenever they get chance. The WiFi is free too, so I could even imagine people working here during quieter hours. One very important thing though - don't get the coffee. It's the worst I've ever tasted. Just don't.
