This company is a joke. We moved 120 miles away from CT to New Hampshire. It has been seven days and we still have not received our stuff. The sub contract everything;I had a crew they picked up from labor ready to pack my families stuff. They are completely unorganized and the communication was absolutely terrible . We moved cross country the summer of 2018 and they were assigned to us by the relocation team. They managed to lose our king mattress and our TV. We have the paperwork to prove that the mattress was never checked off at the warehouse so when we wrote our representative (after days of them looking for our missing items) she told us to buy a new mattress. So we went that day and bought a new mattress. We've reached out to the company to receive reimbursement for the item they have refused to pay us back and instead have decided to fight with us about the logistics of it all. It's been 5 months and we still haven't seen a dime - YES, we've given them 5 months to make this right! I contacted this mover based on the positive Yelp reviews, figuring the one or two bad reviews were just a fluke. They are not. I emailed and asked someone to come out for a quote on a local pack/move. The secretary promptly responded and said a man would be calling me in a day or so. He did, but would not set a time in the future with me because "I don't have any other appointments in your area" (North Haven ) He then said he would call me when he got more appts in my area. So a week went by and I contacted the admin asst again and asked when he'd be calling me to set up an appt. Again, she was prompt and said this guy would contact me "today." At 7:30 p.m. I get an email with no content, just - " I'm sorry I have not had anything else in the area - I'll call when I do" in the subject area! (I am not making this up - an exact quote) Like, I have nothing better to do when preparing for a move in 6 weeks than wait for him to get around to contacting me, based on his convenience. So I replied I'd leave a review of my experience on Yelp. THEN I got a 30 second response!! Offering me the services of another person at Meyer's. This guy contacted me and apologized, in a backhanded manner, "...for not working around your (my) schedule." All I wanted to do was make an APPOINTMENT. That's all! If this is how they treat their potential customers, can you imagine how they treat actual customers when packing and moving their belongings?? No thank you. Multiple valuable items are missing, altogether putting me at $6,000 loss. Mysteriously, non of these items were listed on the inventory prepared by the crew, although all of them were present in my garage and storage before loading was done. The company was hired by my employer, so I trusted them and did not go over the inventory too scrupulously (which is my mistake). I am filing a police report and, if no steps are taken by the company to mediate the situation, I will be definitely taking William B Meyer to court. read more

I used these people three years ago and from start to finish they were the worst that I ever dealt with. The driver was from some other country (maybe Jamaica). It was as if he was doing me a favor and I paid just under 10K. Much damage done to our belongings and he just didn't care! Our move was complicated by large shipments of high-value art, antiques, furniture, important documents, etc. to THREE different states across the U.S., all within a three-week window from the time I first called them to the day the moving vans arrived. Highly trustworthy. Very competitive pricing. Everyone Meyer assigned to our job was exceptional - experienced, smart, solution-oriented, mature, friendly yet highly efficient and organized. Scheduling, estimating, crating of expensive artwork, packing antique china, etc., temporary warehousing, all of it was flawless and seamlessly performed. Meyer has been around for decades and is well-networked around the U.S. and internationally. In addition to residential moves, etc., Meyer handles large commercial moves for institutions like NYC Library and similar. They're the local agent for United Van Lines. I first called their competitor (large company with old-time name you would recognize) who returned my call the day AFTER Meyer had already completed their estimate and gotten us onto their schedule! We took this company after interviewing and receiving quotes from 3 movers, based on their pricing, and more importantly, their commitment to service. A very professional team was sent to our house for the actual packing of the kitchen and artwork, loading the truck and unloading at our new home, 155 miles away. The team, headed up by Bobby Flyte were professional and caring, and went the extra mile to get everything put where we asked. read more

The movers who came to get our things were fine. They were quick and efficient in their loading process which made things easier for us. We do wish they were more specific on their inventory list as we were on our boxes but that was mostly to help us locate things missing after the fact-nothing ended up being missing just missed being marked coming off the truck, it would have been easier to locate things if it wasn't listed as just a box. HOWEVER, the move coordinator turned our move into a complete NIGHTMARE. They didn't have a truck/driver to get our things from CT to SC and instead of letting us know there was a scheduling issue, she ignored phone calls and emails for days as we sat in SC in an empty house, with a toddler and dog waiting to hear if our things even left CT. Finally after reaching out to the sales rep, the manager contacted us to tell us there was an issue and our things still hadn't left CT. Our stuff was picked up on July 26th, our window was August 2-6, which we were ignored by our coordinator, and our belongings didn't arrive to us until August 11th. We chose them because we felt confident we would be informed along the way of a long distance move, that was a lie. Good news or bad news we wanted updates and we got nothing, only ignored. We truly thought we made a great choice after a lot of research and meeting with 5 different companies for in-house estimates. We completely regret our choice and would NEVER recommend this company ever again. read more

A wonderful experience from start to finish from the estimator to the move coordinator to the driver to the loaders and unloaders, including showing up exactly on time on both ends of the move. Highly recommend this company.They do a great job AND a great job of communicating and staying in touch. Do make sure you are clear on who is providing what in terms of wardrobes and boxes for art and such, so you know what's your responsibility and what's theirs, but we had a wonderful experience with them moving us from CT to Colorado. This was our third long range move with United Van Lines. This was the most unprofessional and mismanaged outfit we've ever dealt with. 1. Severely underestimated the volume of our belongings. It took 3 deliveries to receive our items - the 3rd delivery was made by another United moving company hired and paid for by William B. Meyer because WBM didn't have the capability of making the final delivery themselves. 2. Many of our items were not tagged for inventory. As a result, we were missing 3 items and our claim for the missing items is denied because we never reported it on the paperwork. They do not take into account that I did verbally report the missing items to our handler Laura C. while the 3rd driver was still in our home. I also forwarded up with an e-mail to confirm and start a trace. However, since I signed the 3rd paper, they are unwilling to discuss. 3. Much of our furniture was badly damaged. It looked like someone had taken a rake to the back of our dining room chairs. United Van Lines did follow up and have a professional repair all of our damaged furniture, and paid our claim for broken outdoor furniture and household goods. 4. Communication is very poor, in my experience. It is rare that the handler would return your phone call or e-mail to let you know she had received a message and was following up. Generally, you will have to follow up to find out a status. There was lots of "I'm sorry" and "I can't believe this is happening," but that doesn't I would not recommend this company for a long distance move. read more

I had a great experience using this company. I moved from CT to NY; the movers were on time and efficient on both ends, and I received all my items without any damage. My coordinator Debbie was very responsive to questions and checked in with me multiple times during the moving process to make sure everything was going okay. The movers are great but I was not pleased with the company. Since I had a small move, I was given a window of eight days to wait. Then, I had to wait a day after I was told my furniture would arrive because the truck broke down. I was promised by the driver to count on the given day. I received no sympathy for taking an extra day off of work nor an apology. United stood by the fact that the delivery was within their estimate. If you have a large move,this company probably works for you. Otherwise, find another company that works with smaller moves. read more

The move went very smoothly. The staff were very polite and helpful and the coordinator kept me informed.

Extremely poor customer service once you book the move. They picked up our furniture and it sat in a warehouse for 5 day (oops forgot to tell us this when we were talking to the agent). That was it. Very limited communication. Tired calling, emailing no luck. For days had not idea where our furniture was or when it would arrive. When you did get you customer care rep they had no answers and did not call back. Promised we would hear from our driver. The cycle went on like this. Then get a call of the delivery date and than get a call changing the date and then after begging they agree to deliver. Couple items broken chair and safe. So our logic was to go with a know moving company pay a little more but not have aggravation GUESS WE WERE WRONG. read more

Not only did he lie to me and my husband about accommodating our moving date, twice, he then tried to get us to move our things out of storage because his previous company went out of business and "everything had to get out and was unsafe where it was"... He completely lied to us. Our things were totally safe and secure, and moved to a new facility at no cost to us. He wanted us to move our things with him because he was no longer benefiting from us storing out things with his old company. He wanted to make some money off of us, and tried to get us to move our things to WBM, pay a moving fee ($1800 and $150 a month), when we could have just paid NO moving fee and keep our $90 a month storage!). He has caused me a lot of stress. Other people at WBM may be good to work with, but do NOT work with Geoffrey. You will regret it. read more
