I have referred my whole family to Meyer Eyecare because Dr. Ingelse has such great bedside manner and enthusiasm for what she does. She always makes sure that I understand the results of my eye exams and the solutions to treat them. After my last visit in July, I received a series of YouTube video links that featured Dr. Ingelse' personally explaining and reminding me how to treat my dry eye and blepharitis at home. Wow! I also want to share that Pre and Post Covid19 the front office staff at Meyer's has always provided great customer service in setting up my appointments, welcoming me when I arrive, and assisting me during checkout. They have very strict check in protocols now but they are still very cordial and kind in the way they do it. I recently experienced an issue picking up my new eyeglasses due to the new safety protocols they have in place. Not only did one of the staff members contact me right away to resolve it, they also included a personalized note and some eyecare goodies in the bag with my new glasses once I received them. No other Dr's office I've ever gone to has ever done anything like that and in my opinion it's that kind of customer service that sets Meyer Eyecare apart from the rest. PS: My mom is 82 years old with Alzheimer's and Dr. Ingelse and her staff were extremely kind and patient with her. I questioned their integrity. My coworker and I purchased two pair of glasses (each) and we were told by M. she could not provide us with an itemized receipt for the out of pocket cost we were charged; my charge was $732. When I received the document a week or so later, I discovered I was charged for premium add ons - items I don't need and did not agree to. Additionally, I requested and they stated my eyewear was new (ordered) but one pair interior lettering is totally faded. The eyeglass selection and fitting was the easiest I have ever experienced. The technician selected a few frames that she thought would like and she was right! I've been going to Meyer Eyecare for many years with never an issue. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. However, this last visit was a disaster. Dr Ingeles incorrectly put in my prescription for my 2 pairs of glasses. Ater waiting for 3 weeks I received one pair only to find out I couldn't see out of them. I waited a total of 10 weeks to receive my glasses. In the meantime I received a bill. Imagine my surprise. At this point Meyer Eyecare has lost all credibility with me. Hi. This is just about the most outstanding place to get a comprehensive eye/medical exam. It funky, its fun and the overall experience is overwhelming... in a good way.. lol. The reason being is because they do specialize in difficult eye diseases, and situations. Me having unbalanced vision, along with cataracts, glaucoma I sought me to seek additional help in my journey. They offer retina scans, lipid scans etc for a modest price which one should grab if in need of this service. I saw Dr. Jill Ingelse. She is also a great listener and advisor. She calmed me down and I am forever grateful for that because of my complicated medical/eye history. She saw the fear of me losing my vision in my face, I did not have to tell her that. She just knew. When she gently advised me who to see to help rectify this situation I felt like she was a messenger that I had been seeking for the last two months. Thank you Dr. Ingelse. I do not have the medical insurance to see you, but if I can swing it I would love to return back and let you follow up with me. On March 21, 2023 I was humiliated. I was berated at a medical facility where I have received care for over 10 years. I went for my annual exam at Meyer Eye Care, 13114 Western Ave in Blue Island. Dr. Jill Ingelse showed her lack of professionalism from the time I was meeting with her assistant to work on my pre-testing prior to meeting with her, until the end of my visit. She was very loud in her constant expression of being overbooked and having back to back patients. She thought this was an excuse for her rudeness in behavior. I asked a few questions towards the end of my appointment that were pertaining to my exams she just conducted, and her findings of potential adjustments to my prescription. She over-talked me, rushed me out and told me these questions would be answered in my next visit which was my contact lens fitting. When I asked if I could speak to another physician in the office she then told me she was the ONLY doctor there, and she could no longer speak with me because she had to go see her other patients. When I asked the receptionist to look at my records and let me know who was the doctor I saw for my last visit, Dr. Jill Ingelse interrupted, expressed she was the practice owner, and told me they were no longer going to service me. You are NOT welcome in my practice anymore. This was said to me in front of her staff, patients in the nearby office, patients looking at glasses and anyone else in the waiting area. This was an open space. I have never been so embarrassed, humiliated, berated, ridiculed and HURT! I am currently trying to move past this public trauma. The type of hurt that has to stay bottled up as a black woman in Blue Island where everyone in the office is now looking at me and expecting me to respond. The owner of Meyer Eye Care, Dr. Jill Ingelse, then folded the paper with my information on it and walked to the back like I didn't exist.. Before this experience, I would have believed that all types of physicians are charged with patient care as their primary responsibility. While I understand the constraints of having a busy schedule, it is not acceptable to be treated in this manner for any reason. I had specific medical tests to be performed and questions that I, the patient needed addressed. I'm using this opportunity to speak out and warn others of this facility and the doctor that treated me in this manner. I want a public apology as loud as my public embarrassment. After sitting in my traumatized state I would like my medical records expedited. I have made this request and I am waiting on a follow up. read more

TREATED AS IF I HAVE I WAS A LEPER!! Very unkind and unprofessional people at this clinic. After spending over $1,800 with this clinic over the last 4 years and the utter lack of respect for my loyalty and hard earned money, I can assure you that I'll never do business with them again!! They've lost me, my wife, my daughter, and my mother in law!! All because they refused to adjust my glasses, knowing that I'm a trucker and can't schedule an adjustment!! TOTALLY DONE WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! Thankfully EYE DOC, in Midlothian were able to cater to my needs and have won me over as a new customer... It's not that it's an inconvenience... it's the lack of respect from the personnel. Our Dr. Jill Ingelse is the most cooperatve, beautiful, and caring! I was not able to see any Dr. I felt out of balance and could barely walk. I called her and she took me in immediately. I did not know if it was eye related or not. She checked me out and thank goodness it was not. Just having her kindness and reassurance not to mention her immense expertise made me feel so much better. She is so amazing that we will keep her as long as she takes us. It was my first time visiting the facility, having an appointment with Dr. Ahern. From the time I arrived, the reception desk was courteous and did not hesitate to explain my insurance and options. The staff who assisted Dr. Ahern with the eye exams were amazing. I have never had such a thorough exam with detailed explanations before. Went for my annual exam with Dr. Arhens, I've only seen him a few times yet he always goes above and beyond just the exam, he also talked to me about eyecare. I'm often in chlorine and it had been effecting my eyes a lot lately and he suggested how to care for that problem. The entire staff was really helpful when picking out new frames, while also taking precautions to prevent COVID-19 which was appreciated. Couldn't recommend them more. read more

Dr. Jill Ingeles and her staff are amazing. Everyone is very helpful and knowledgable. The waiting room is beautifully decorated, not that you are waiting long. The selection of frames is very inclusive with your everyday frames and some very beautifully unique options. Dr. Ingeles' exams are thorough and utilizes the latest technology in optometry, She goes over her examination findings, explaining everything and is very patient with me and my 5 and 3 y/o children. The eye exam is thorough, but no different than what you would get at any other eye care facility. The optometrist was a nice guy and knew what he was doing. My issue has nothing to do with that part of my experience. My issue is with the "Manager" Catherine and her unethical practices. I have a couple of coatings that I get as standard practice due to my occupation. The only addition was the transitions. When I received the glasses, the AR and Scratch Resistant coatings were not on there. I was told that I did not order it. This is a lie! I always order it and my eye care coverage can prove that. So, she dug her heals in and continued with the lie. My eye care insurance fortunately reimbursed the difference. Then there has been a couple of other issues with the lenses which required me to return them for repair. Each time I have returned them for repair, I have had to wait over a week before I get them back. I purchased these glasses back in January and have worn them for a total of 3 weeks. We are now in April to give you some perspective. That's my main issue with their operation. The second issue is with the women at the counter. I find them to be a bit rude and unaccommodating. So, my issues are with the sales and front desk service. These two areas of any business, in my opinion, are the most important. If you have a poor experience with these two areas, it is enough to ruin the entire experience. read more
