Was staying in a hotel across from this restaurant and had it recommended by the front desk as being the best Mexican restaurant. It was excellent. Friendly, family run and nice decor. The service was terrific and the food came out quickly and steaming hot. My son had the fajitas Del Mar and they were very generous with the shrimp and scallops. I had the carnitas fajitas as carnitas are my own specialty. I must admit their carnitas were better than my own. Stopped here for lunch after a visit to Bass Pro. I had the Mexico burrito and my wife had the huevos ranchero. We both liked what we ordered, and their chips and salsa are pretty good. For the food, I would give them 4 stars. But our server pretty much dropped the ball. Not sure if he ever came back after taking the order (someone else always seems to deliver the food in a mexican restaurant), so I never got a chance to order a refill on my drink. I think the guy who was working the register at the front door noticed this, and he did come over at some point and ask how things were and if I needed a refill, but by this time, I was almost finished eating. After we did finish eating, and had been waiting a bit, the same guy at the front came back over and asked if we needed anything else. I told him just the check, so he went looking for our server. A little while after that, he finally showed up with the bill. Maybe they just had a mixup on service, but the food was pretty good. I would try it again. read more

Ordered our food with only specific things on our food because of allergic reasons and when my boyfriend went to take a bite of his quesadillas it had everything he didn't want on it, we tried to send it back for a new one and the lady was very rude about it saying he had to bring the rice back for a new one which he already ate that was on the side, rolling her eyes, and catching a attitude. Came here with my fiancée driving up 95 toward DC. Stopped in for some lunch specials and it was clear from the start that we would have a great experience. This spotless restaurant was clean, tidy, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Warm chips and tasty, fresh salsa were promptly brought to the table. Our server was accommodating when I asked for two potato taquitos a la carte, which were deliciously crispy but not heavy. My fiancée got the steak California burrito and I got the veggie combo #4 (a cheese enchilada and a bean tostada.) I want to bring your attention to this enchilada sauce. Might not seem like much but the distinctive, complex flavor was not super spicy or over-done. It was a surprise to taste how much effort went into the enchilada sauce. I would come back there and ask for a bottle of that enchilada sauce. But I digress... the service was equally phenomenal as the food. The bathrooms were clean and spotless. I work in the area and often find myself coming here for supper. I have yet to have something here I don't like and I've explored the menu pretty extensively. Highlights are the Tacos al Pastore and anything with the Barbacoa, but, again, I've never had anything bad. Make sure to ask for some salsa verde if you're feeling adventurous. This place was amazing! Although it was a Saturday evening and the place was busy, we were seated almost immediately. Just as we were getting situated at our table a server brought over a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were fresh & crisp and the salsa was delicious with a little kick of heat. Our server (I can't remember her name) was pleasant, attentive and helpful. She was efficient and although she was busy and the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed. We stopped here, traveling in the midst of the Corona Virus 19 epidemic, coming back to NJ from our FL Condo and stopped here for lunch. The folks were very solicitous and friendly. They let us use their bathrooms to wash up. We ordered tacos chori y papa (chorizo and potatoes). It was a feast! The tacos were accompanied by beans and rice (superb!), chips and salsa, and really delicious pico de gallo and a mildly hot salsa for the tacos. They brought it out to the truck and we ate in the warm NC sunshine (it was May 1). Alot of delicious food for about $22 (including a Jarritos mango soda and a sparkling water). Unbelievably horrid service. We got there just after 8:30. The only two other tables left within a few minutes, leaving us as the only ones in the place. Took almost 35 minutes to get our simple orders, then only after we asked the hostess where our food was. In the meantime we'd eaten all our chips and no one came by to ask if we wanted more. Had to ask for more water. One order came without the salad listed on the menu, so had to ask for it. Food was ok. Sounded like they were all visiting in the back rather loudly, ignoring us, even though they supposedly are open until 10 pm. If it wasn't late and we were so tired we would have walked out. Super clean and excellent service. They have a decent kids menu as well. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon while driving down 95, and our food was delicious and made very quickly. We got Shrimp Chimichangas. They came out more like deep fried burritos. There was three shrimp in the entire fried burrito. It was served with white rice that had onions in it. I stopped eating after about 3/4 of the first burrito, left the rest on my plate. Just not good. I really wanted it to be good because it was my idea to try a new place. Makes the best Spanish rice and their Avocado Fries are amazing. I really do not like refried beans, so I was stunned when I found myself devouring the stuff like candy. I don't know how they do it, but they somehow make their refried beans light, airy, and delicious, without feeling heavy . The house tortilla chips are awesome, but watch out, the house salsa does have some heat...but ohh so delicious. The portions are big and my favorite entree is the Burrito California. My family & I have been to this Restaurant twice now while in town for baseball tournaments & it was the worst service I think I've ever experienced! They were extremely slow, no one hardly spoke any English & our orders were wrong. The first time, I gave them some slack because they were super busy with families from out of town staying at the two hotels next door to them (they are lucky to be in that location & still in business is all I have to say!) but, the second visit, they were not busy at all & our waiter just seemed to take his sweet time, never brought us water & was extremely arrogant. Stopped at the Mexico Restaurant as we were traveling home from Myrtle Beach. We stumbled upon the restaurant as we got gas & wanted to avoid the backed up traffic that was awaiting us on 95 North. We took a vote as a family between this place & the fish company..everyone agreed on the Mexico Restaurant! We were greeted kindly & almost immediately upon sitting down chips & salsa was served. We've never gotten complimentary items so quickly! I ordered the shrimp chimichanga (I love chimis). Our children all ordered quesadillas. The two younger dudes got cheese quesadillas off children's menu & found them to be ok. My daughter got the chicken quesadillas & was not too pleased with the American cheese that was used. I liked it because American cheese has more taste to me. I didn't care for the fact that when she ordered more sour cream they gave her a cereal bowl full & charged for it. That was a waste because she didn't need that much. Better portion control on their part would be helpful. Anyway overall it was a cool experience. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn across from this restaurant and were looking for a place to eat after a fun but long day at King's Dominion. We got there at 9:40 pm and they close at 10, but they welcomed us in. There were four of us; half had tacos and the others had fajitas. Everything was delicious and tasted authentic.
