    Huge Dining Area
    D.wight L.

Whoa I've got serious history with this spot. Even though I've only eaten here like 8 times, I did start coming here in the 90s as a super young adult on the go, damn that's like 30 friggin' years, which also shows the serious longevity of this place. They also opened one up closer to where I live in Fremont, but that eventually stopped operations within the past decade. I ate here twice in the past 6 months so here's a much overdue review. This place is huge, like major dining hall with a separate bar area. Not sure if they pack it in to capacity anymore as both times I've gone in, the bar area seemed more bustling than the dining area. But if you threw 100 peeps in there, the place would only look half full, that's how big the space is here. Always start with a basic Margarita on the rocks ($8/4*) I don't always order sweetish drinks but this is a must for me at Mexican restaurants when the chips and salsa show up. It is a combo as compelling as a burger and Coke, brownies with milk etc. Theirs is okay, not crazy sweet but I also can't do more than 2. Carnitas Platter ($22/5*) Their menu says Michoacan style and I grew up with a family from that state, and carnitas was a special occasion thing for them. This version was legit, super tender, nothing dry and a serious good crisping on the exterior. They nailed this and with their super solid beans and rice and warm tortillas just sends memory shivers down my spine. And sips from that icy cold margarita...OH MAN! Halibut Puerto Vallarta ($23/5*) I had to try this another time as I've never seen halibut as an entree at a Mexican place, and boy was I pleasantly surprised. A nice slab of halibut with skin was butterflied yet remained fairly thick. Perfectly cooked with a slight browning on the exterior and totally succulent in the center. And halibut is a tough fish to make right, even fine dining places can overcook it. Not here, crazy good. Menu said wine/butter but I didn't really sense any significant sauce, maybe it was just brushed with it, but nothing was coating it. I love simplicity paired with freshness and this totally encapsulated that. I don't recall my meals being this special from them way back years but maybe I just pay more attention these days. The place is showing some wear but this place can still deliver on the food end. To that lets rock out another 30 years!

It's been a long time since I've been able to return here and glad I did. I shared a chicken burrito with my friend and it was almost 11 inches long and stuffed full of meat with some rice. It was very tasty too. The surprising part was the price $11.95! The service was excellent and food came out quickly.

Still our favorite Mexican! No charge for extra chips! I cannot believe some of the Mexican restaurants that charge for chips & salsa? Great Cadillac margarita's too!

Great place to go if you're hungry. Plenty of food on the plate. We ordered street tacos and a veggie fajitas. We also received chips and salsa. If you like hot food be sure to ask for the hot sauce. You'll be treated with their habanero hot sauce. So good!! The food was good, meat tender and overall a really good experience.

HOLY GUACAMOLE, FOLKS! Just look at this spread! I ordered what I thought was a "sampling" of Mexican favorites, but what arrived was practically a FIESTA ON A PLATE.

One of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We came here with a large group and were shocked to find plastic in our food--not just one piece, but multiple pieces across several dishes. When we brought it to the staff's attention, we expected at the very least an apology or some effort to make things right. Instead, the manager was unbelievably rude and told us to leave and never come back. No accountability, no concern for our safety, and absolutely no professionalism. This isn't just poor service--it's a serious health hazard. I would not recommend this place to anyone and genuinely believe it should be reported for food safety violations.

Since most of the menu was a little pricy, my coworker and I split an al pastor burrito from the a la carte menu. Very big portions, which helps the pricing issue, and the flavor isn't bad, though it has a lot of competition with the area's excellent local taquerias. Service was agreeable, they provided everything we asked for and made up a table for our large group even though we didn't have a reservation--granted, they weren't very busy. Ambiance felt stagnant, though this may be because it's more of a dinner place and we were there for lunch.

I love their chili verde but their prices just keep going up. It was $28 for 6 little pieces of meat (see pic). Absolutely ridiculous. Not a single person was in there when I went in and now I know why...you're about to lose your business with these outrageous prices!

Updating my review and increasing my rating. I've been coming here for years and will say that these folks are reliable and the staff is wonderful. The food is consistent and I like to order off the a la carte menu (try the crunchy taco) which is really well priced. Chips and salsa are great. The bar area is cool for sure. Conveniently located just off the 680 in Pleasanton near the fairgrounds. Give them a try!

The asada tacos were easily the highlight--solid 8/10 and definitely the "hit" of the meal. The carnitas were decent (around a 5 or 6), and while the salsa verde was good, the other salsas lacked a deep, authentic sabor. However, as a Mexican who knows my beans, the refried beans were a major disappointment. They tasted like they came straight from a can and had a strange oil flavor that just didn't sit right. Pro Tip: Ask for extra lime and cilantro. They tend to go heavy on the onions but light on the greens. Their Chile de Árbol is great, but you'll need at least 4 or 5 limes to really bring the flavors out! the customer service was a 10/10 :) thanks ladies

The Food: Street Food Double: The chutneys were incredibly flavorful, pairing perfectly with the well-cooked chickpeas. The bara pockets were wonderfully soft and delicious. Beef Patties: The pastry was beautifully crisp and savory. The spiced short rib filling was a total delight--it had a nice kick to it without being overly spicy, which I loved. Oxtail Stew: Generous portion size with plenty of chunky meat that literally falls off the bone. It was perfectly marinated in a great blend of spices. Pairing the stew with a side of their coconut rice is highly recommended! Banana Bread Pudding: Having heard so much hype about this, it was just alright for me. It was cooked perfectly and I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, but it lacked a real wow factor. The Drinks: Red Wine Sangria: Really nice, refreshing, and fruity. Chase The Devil: Fun to try if you want something different, and it has a decent kick, but I would probably skip it next time. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating. On top of that, the servers are friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. Definitely worth a visit!

The ambiance is cute with a small closed off glass area of wine and two seater table inside! Our waitress Dominique was amazing. She was able to give great recommendations for wines and food. She also made us feel taken cared of and was friendly/warm. The food is a mix of mexican/euro/american so there were a lot of different options. Here are the things we got: Appetizers - Parm crusted cauliflower: so good, nice and crunchy but not too heavily breaded. The chipotle mayo was delish - Chicharrones: so light and crispy! They were hot out of the fryer. It had a side of a corn cheese dip that was so good and made it more unique of a dish -- must try if you even kind of eat chicharrones. I don't generally like pork skin but I enjoyed it regardless. - Hamachi ceviche: this is a large sharing portion with chunks of hamachi and avocado. Good but not a must have. Entrees - Enchiladas: very cheesy and overall a good dish but I would skip this. - Shrimp tostadas: large size shrimp and it just comes with two tostadas so I don't think it was worth the price - Barramundi fillet: The fish was tender and juicy. I liked the marinades that came with it. I liked this dish with the rice because it made me feel homey. Good portion of fish. - Agua Chile Ribeye: This is a must have! The ribeye is sous vide so it was soo tender and juicy. The broth was really nice to keep everything moist and flavorful. Because we were celebrating a birthday, Dominique made a dessert with a nice special touch. Will definitely be back again!
