    Pork Carnitas Tacos
    Mike R.

What a great atmosphere to walk into! First time here, welcomed right at the door with the friendliest staff in town. The lady was in love with her chicken quesadilla. I had the pork carnitas tacos. The pork was super tender, wish there was 6 tacos on the plate. The free chips and the best salsa I've ever had is a great way to be greeted as you sit.

Everything was great for my family. The staff was friendly, and the place was clean. The 12 ounce guacamole and cheese were what we devoured. Right away, the salsa and hot chips came out. As the salsa is served, a small bowl is given to each person so you don't have to share germs. It cost less than $8 for my son to eat a beef taco with fries. I got carne asada, which was a lot of steak served with rice, beans, and gaucamole. We also ordered chile Colorado, which had very soft meat and a lot of sauce. Both of them were great, and I would order them again. We didn't think the Colorado dish's sauce looked right because there was so much of it, but it tasted great, and for people who always like extra sauce, this is it. They were very helpful and brought us fresh, hot chips with our food. They also refilled our drinks often. We had dessert even though we were already full. Caramel, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and ice cream were served with the sopapillas. They were tasty and hot. They get chewy if you don't eat them quickly. There was chocolate and caramel on top of the churros, as well as whipped cream and ice cream. The outside was perfectly crispy, and the inside was hot and doughy. It costs a little more because they make a lot of their own fresh products, but you're getting better quality. We'll be back.

Nothing glaringly bad or off about this Mexican spot. The staff are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is what you would expect. It is clean overall. It just lands as a middle of the road kind of spot. The food is average. The salsa has more of a tomato sauce quality that dominates the flavors. The real kicker are the prices. Yikes! I saw it in other reviews, but wanted to experience first hand. Grossly overpriced Mexican food. Talk about sticker shock! One of the shining stars of a great Mexican joint is that the prices are great in regard to the quality food. The prices alone will keep me from coming back. Too bad!

Started with a delicious Cadillac Margarita with chips and queso, both excellent! For dinner I enjoyed their Carnitas dinner with tortillas, rice, and beans, absolutely delicious. Service was promt, and attentive, and seating area was casual and comfortable, and not pretentious. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Tried this place for the first time last night! The atmosphere was really nice, the waiter was very friendly and the food was excellent! I'm a sucker for Mexican food so I was really excited to try this place. I got the enchilada trio( chicken, beef and cheese) and my cousin got the Mexican burrito. Didn't take long for the food to come out and it tasted fresh and hot! We will definitely be back!

(Richard Thompson) No doubt, our always perceptive Yelpers have figured out the link between Condesa and the lyrics - Condesa = Contessa in Spanish. Condesa has four locations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The Sturbridge location is on the extreme left side of a big shopping plaza -look for the Shaw's Market and Ocean State Job Lot. The first thing you'll notice when you walk inside is the Día de (los) Muertos (Day of the Dead) artwork pretty much everywhere on the walls. They have two indoor dining rooms and a covered outdoors dining area, where we had our lunch on a beautiful summer day. Our server Moises was polite and friendly and started us off with a big portion of complimentary ships and salsa. The chips were fresh and still warm and the mildly spiced salsa was excellent. Our lunch was a TACO SALAD ($14) described on the menu as "Grilled chicken, mixed greens, fire roasted corn, Pico de Gallo, cilantro vinaigrette, queso fresco, and tortilla strips". It was served in one of those ubiquitous fried tortilla shells which I would have declined had I known it. I passed on the vinaigrette in favor of that great salsa for my dressing, and declined the queso, and tortilla strips. The grilled chicken was absolutely fantastic. It was pounded so thin, it had ended up being about the same size as the bowl it was served in. And whatever they used to season it was wonderful! Under that blanket of chicken were fresh greens, and a few sprinkles of corn and Pico. Adding their salsa as a dressing made it a winner of a meal. My wife ordered their CHICKEN QUESADILLA ($14). The four big wedges had a generous portion of grilled chicken and cheese, topped with sour cream, queso fresco, and Pico de Gallo. I sampled a forkful and loved the flavor and noticed a pretty generous layer of cheese in with the chicken. My club soda with two lemon wedges was $3. Service from Moises was OK, he was super pleasant when we interacted with us and when we asked for a water and salsa refill. All in all, our $33 after tax-before tip lunch was perfectly fine.

I was so hungry and decided to find a quaint parking spot to enjoy my food. For the first time I decided hmm maybe I should eat this in the backseat in case I accidentally make a mess. (Best idea ever, it's so much better than eating in the front) Anywho all that information just to say that when I pulled my food out, it was in the most perfect container and it was actually plated so nicely. I don't think I've ever had takeout look so presentable lol. I also appreciated all the garnishes that it came with. I got the tacos birria which also came with rice, I think this is the first time I've had a restaurant serve rice with the birria which I also appreciated, as well as the refried beans. I will say I wish the birria wasn't as soft as it was but I'm sure it was because it sat there for a little. No biggie. Everything was tasty, the consome was good, not the best I've had but it was still good! I also got chips n guac which they give you a really nice portion. I'll be eating guac n chips for the next 3 days hahaha Overall I would return and try something else. Their carne asada looks delicious. Thank you

The service is very friendly and attentive, but not too in your meal. I liked to see that the menu was pretty concentrated, not trying to be too many things. I got some wings, a barbacoa burrito, and a singular fish taco. For the wings I got them naked with ginger orange sauce. They were hot, crispy, and you could get the orange flavor. Not so much on the ginger, but you could see the ginger in the sauce on the plate. The fish taco, I was told, is one of their most popular dishes, and I can taste why. The vegetables and squirt of lemon went a long way in having this taste fresh and vibrant, while the sauce and fish were not heavy and allowed for an easy eating taco. The burrito, what a burrito it was. Since the tortilla reminded me of a crispy pizza crust, and they serve pizzas here, I imagine this got finished off in the pizza oven. The filling was all balanced, between the meat, rice, and cheese, while the crisp tortilla gave it a crunch. I was also really impressed with the prices here, super reasonable and that's before the military discount. I'll definitely be trying this place again.

As a resteraunt, the downstairs was very small with 3 tables & a bar; the upstairs was more spacious. The food was edible, but it wasnt anything special; nothing a novice cook at home couldnt produce taste-wise, & you would have never known you were in a Mexican resteraunt by the food, the ambiance, or the drinks (which is hard to do because margaritas are made of tequila) Granted what we ordered wasn't Mexican, but isn't that strange in itself? I ordered one of the specials: ($27) boneless beef short ribs w/ a mescal mushroom sauce, on a bed of mashed potatoes & spinach w/ pickled onions, & a ginger margarita ($14). My friend chose the special ($26) coconut crusted cod w/ rice, mixed vegetables, pineapple salsa & a house silver margarita (16). Mine was edible & the meat was a good texture, but the flavor profile was nothing to write home about. Actually, it would have have been better without the sauce, because it overpowered the dish. The pickled onion on top was the best part of my meal. The drink also fell flat, but was drinkable. My friend reported that her fish was bland & flavorless, but could have been improved with a little lime. However the waitress never came back after taking the order, except to drop the check. It was delivered by a runner. She commented that everything else on the plate had flavor & as long as she ate bites of everything together, it was decent. I gave it a try, & agreed, but I have to say the pineapple salsa was a stand out star on her plate. Her drink was also passable, but not good enough to order a second & she had to add sweetner, because it was mutually bitter & tart. She said the sweetner improved it. The wait staff was not unpleasant, they were just mot attentive. Needless to say I won't be returning.

Either way.... they find new and improved ways to disappoint our delivery service. Quite a few times I have found hair in my food. That should have been it- especially since they promised to send us a gift card, even though they never did. This particular time? They sent us a JOKE of a meal consisting only of a sad, lonely piece of a fish triangle in a lonely, floppy corn tortilla. No cabbage. No condiments. Just a SAD piece of "Baja" fish for $17. The one star is because I couldn't vote zero. And if I had to give ONE redeeming factor, it would be their delicious guacamole. I'll give them that. Wish these were more options in our town! Luckily- the delivery services are starting to offer more

Ceviche tastes fresh, guacamole is fresh, salsa is pretty good (I like a watery salsa), chips pretty good, mixed drinks (Paloma and margaritas) are good enough, chicken tortilla soup is filling. None of this is so good that I would recommend driving 15 minutes + out of your way for, but decent enough. The downside: most of the food is lackluster. Tamales: dry (thank God for the watery salsa); rice and beans: dry, with beans slightly on the flavorless and burnt side; the burritos: vegetables are fresh, but meat always tastes dry (chicken) or slightly flavorless (beef), (thankfully most burritos served with a cheese sauce as well, but the lettuce and tomatoes that are served with it are always cheap and flavorless); enchiladas: one-note, the salty sauce and cheese covers up other flavors ( if there even are any); tacos: forgettable and one-note in flavor (needed guacamole, salsa and hot sauce to provide any depth of flavor); street corn: a complete joke, and covered with a mayonnaise-like condiment containing Sazon. For entertainment, order the street corn! Ask them to split it in two so that it can be for two people. Depending on who the chef or waitress is this could turn into an interesting conversation (about whether corn can be split in two vertically, seriously- the waitress left our table and returned asking if we meant split a cob of corn vertically or horizontally). She then stared in wonderment at us when i said "we just want 2 portions"; i felt like i was making an Abott and Costello bit, when she replied "sooooo, two orders split in half or what do you mean?". I mean one ear of corn cut in half so one person can have one half and another person can have one half. She nodded in amazement, saying that it would be really hard to cut an ear of corn in half but maybe if the chef has a good knife, maybe this amazing half corn could happen. Then it arrives, yes split horizontally in two, she looked very proud. Now, what's supposed to make street corn street corn is that it's grilled and seasoned, then covered in a Mexican crema and cotija cheese topping with lime and onions. Mexicali boils their corn in unsalted water, doesn't usually cut it in half or season it afterwards, leaves the corn probably for the whole shift so that each of the kernels gets really shriveled and dry like an old raisin, then coats it with mayonnaise and sprinkles Sazon on it. It's an entertaining experience, if nothing else. Definitely have an adult beverage- at least those will have flavor and hopefully make the whole experience fun/worthwhile!
