We visited on a Saturday night and ordered wings with Carolina Gold sauce, and split the mexi wing special (might have that name wrong) that had beans, rice, chicken, steak, and chorizo. We also ordered a pitcher of the house margaritas, on the rocks. Our server was incredibly attentive, personable, and funny. Happened into this restaurant on our way from Michigan to Florida. What a great surprise. Very reasonably priced, delicious food. We had flautas and fajitas. Either order could have fed 2-3 people. So the thing is, it was Christmas Day... nothing was open. This was, easily, the most disgusting meal and dining experience I've ever had. And I once ate a chicken nuggets on the floor of a fast food bathroom. So this is saying A LOT. I ordered 5 jerk wings, 5 Thai chili wings, and a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw came out first and smelled like warm pennies and tasted like rotten fish. So I have that pending food poisoning to look forward to. I literally left this place and went to a pharmacy to buy some activated charcoal capsules. The wings were the size of Barbie arms and while the (clearly store bought) Thai chili sauce was okay, the jerk sauce tasted like grass and cinnamon. You have to pay at the desk up front and we waited over 20 minutes to do that because you both have to pay there, as well as get in line there to pick up/place a take out order. It was a mess. On the positive side (since it's Christmas), the chicken wasn't raw and the toilets flushed. $64 later... Merry Christmas. read more

Upon the time i decided to go eat here, I didn't understand why when you walk in the lady ask how many then tells you to pick your own seat. The food was good and everything but the service was horrible. Once they take your order, and give it to you they don't even come back and ask how is it, would you like anything else, would you like a refill, or a to-go box. You had to ask if you could get more salsa and when you did, they didn't even bring you some, the lady laughed when i asked, also had to ask if you could get a box because the server was preoccupied. I stopped here in search of some good Mexican food after a long motorcycle ride from New Orleans. I got food to-go and it was done very fast. It was cheap, that's for sure. The quality of the food was so-so. I got a been enchilada and it was basically a steamed flour tortilla with ground beef in it and covered in tomato sauce rather than enchilada sauce. The re-fried beans were really salty, but still good. I had a couple of chicken tacos (flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas) the chicken was juicy and tender and quite good. If you're looking for double your daily dose of sodium intake and some very cheap, fast but reasonably tasty Mexican food then this is a good place to stop. It's especially convenient off I81 and is a great alternative for those looking for cheap fast food that isn't a chain. I would stop here again if I'm ever in this part of the country again. read more

Best Mexican restaurant in Athens, without a doubt. Prices are noticeable cheaper than Monterey and Las Margaritas. The wings and tenders actually are really good, and to say that the wings are swimming in bbq or hot sauce would be a vast understatement. Plenty of ranch and celery compliment it. I've taken several friends here who said they didn't mind Monterey, but absolutely refuse to go back there after experiencing Mexi-Wing. The building isn't much to look at, but I woul much rather save a buck or two per meal than for them to renovate and up the prices. Good happy hour, also. Really cheep brew. 4-6pm I think. read more

Tried this place on a whim. Odd combo of food genres, but it works. I got the wings, which are served in multiples of five, not six, which I loved. I got the Caribbean jerk and the garlic Parmesan. We got seated quick and ordered and received our meal quick. The medium wings were good as well as the other meal we each ordered. The food was ok but the service was poor. I noticed the booth next to us got up and left due to bad/no service. We were never checked on to see if we needed anything or refill tea glasses or even give us ice in the "iced tea". I did something I have never done before and did not leave a tip, which is unusual for me as I always tip 20% or more. I will not be going back there. read more

Lots of of cars in the parking lot gave a good sign that the food was good. Walked in took a look at the take out menu and placed my order they said would be ready I 15 to 20 minutes. The hotel that I am staying at is right across the street and by the time I got back to my room the food was ice cold! Very disappointed! So if you like take out make sure it's hot BEFORE you leave! Love the wings. That's the only thing I eat there, the waiters don't speak much because they speak Spanish, not a problem but I prefer the location downtown. Stay away from anything with ground beef and its really good and really cheap. The grilled (not shredded) California chicken burrito is my personal favorite with a pitcher of top shelf margaritas. We had been eating there for years. Then they changed the real ground beef to some kind of meat like the change at Taco Bell. It really taste like a lot of filler and is ground up to be very fine, like the pink slime of old. The Taco Salads that we use to love are now 2/3 the size they were and they overfill with that meat and darn little else. So sorry to see them change a winning combination of good food and reasonable prices for this new standard. Now we have to find somewhere else to eat are Mexican food. read more
